Went on here in October with our dog and loved it. Great fun, cheap, good views and a hilarious captain. Would highly recommend.

Had a fantastic experiance on one of the hottest days of the year last year. The sea was flat calm and once out in open water, a cool breeze was most welcomed. What a magical day both my sister and I had. Worth the £3. We're hoping to repeat it again this year. Love Whitby.

This was an impromptu experience as, whilst just walking past, we were enticed both by the pirate on the quayside and the low £3 fare. We were taken up the river as opposed to out on the sea and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Lots to look at in the way of boats, riverside houses and bridges, and also spotted plenty of wildlife - including a seal! The skipper was chatty and enthusiastically pointed out things to look at, despite our trip probably being the last of the day. Couldn't fault a thing. Delighted with the experience and would certainly go again - wholeheartedly recommend!

Fabulous trip aboard this lovely boat with the Captain dressed as a pirate . A great price of £3 per person and our little dog travelled for free. We sailed out to the bouy after a safety briefing and heard some history about Whitby. The Captain was clear even over the wind and waves and kept the facts fun and interesting. We’ve been to Whitby a few times before but he told us stories we hadn’t heard. As we sailed out of the harbour the Captain told us to look in towards the shore and we could see dolphins ! The great thing about this boat being a little smaller than some others is that the dolphins were so close. Keeping the boat steady enough for us to take photos and pointing out where the dolphins were (and giving us his top tips to spot them) couldn’t have been easy but was managed with great aplomb. We had a fabulous trip and I would definitely recommend if you’re visiting Whitby.

I was looking forward to this trip on an old lifeboat, it could have been a good trip but in the event was very poor. To start with, no health and safety covered and with youngsters onboard this was a must, no mention of life jackets or procedures, but, as we passed the current Whitby lifeboat we were told that if anything went wrong, we could have a free ride on it. The person in charge was more intent on letting go of the wheel, taking pictures and shouting out to people on the harbour wall or on other boats. It would have been good to have been told a little about the lifeboat's history and something about the coast but nothing other than putting music on. Once leaving the harbour to head out for a buoy which was the turning point, the boat started to pitch in the waves, nothing alarming, but to be told "This is better than Alton Towers but you don't lose your leg", a reference to the Smiler accident in June 2015, is nothing short of disgraceful. The OIC did joke about Health and Safety on the way in! The operators of this trip should be ashamed and will be reported to the Health & Safety executive. Overall what could be a good trip ruined but woefully amateurish staff.
