Lovely church on the hill near to Whitby Abbey. Church looks over Whitby and access via the 99 steps! Great church and old cemetery graves in the grounds, some from the 17th century. Great Armistace Remembrance poppies at the Church when we visited. Great views...More

Beautiful old church still with its original box pews and plain white interior. Always popular with visitors to this historic port. The whalebone arch outside stands as a poignant reminder of the town's heritage as a whaling port.

We visited this historic church on the headland above Whitby. The building was filled with dozens of sponsored Christmas trees which was an unexpected surprise. The interior is well preserved with a unique triple tier pulpit and box pews including some marked for strangers only.

From our hotel bedroom window could see the poppies falling from the church so we had to climb the 199 steps to get a better view and weren't disappointed. Inside found the boxed pews very unusual, great place for kids to hide.
