Great festive display

Lovely Christmas tree display. Not sure how many trees there are but there are lots, all very well decorated. You will not be disappointed.

As the church is at the top is the 199 steps and next to the abbey it occupies a commanding view of the town and the coast. Some of the headstones are very old (from the 1700's) but are still standing despite a lot being very weather worn.

A smallish parish church near the famous Abbey on the hill. We were lucky enough to be able to see the church bells ringers when we visited and asked lots of questions. Interesting to see for historical and cultural purposes.worth visiting when in Whitby.

We always visit I think it's to make sure we can still climb the steps. The church is unlike any I have seen before, full of interesting artifacts. There is also a gift shop full of handmade items which the ladies run to go to the upkeep of the church. The outside is very peaceful and well kept. The view... More

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I had never seen a church like it. I loved it. The way it is set out is so not normal. I dont really want to say more as I want you to be as surprised as I was. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the church. The gravestones outside were... More

Special place to visit, very calm and peaceful inside. Plenty of seats to sit outside and admire the most wonderful views over the town of Whitby and out to sea.

A great church to visit and should be on everyone's list when visiting Whitby. If you can't manage the climb you can drive up to the abbey and park in the pay and display. There is so much information and history inside this church. I would make sure you have time to have a good look round when you visit.... More

We climbed up the 198 steps to this dramatic edifice before a late breakfast and it certainly gave us an appetite . The local history of a place is often to be sensed in such places and this is a Church where you can virtually HEAR history surging around. It has somehow escaped huge swathes of late Victorian modernisation and... More

You walk through this to get to the abbey. I love old graveyard and churches so for me it was lovely. Would love to be up there on a foggy morning!
