Called in here on a wet and windy day after seeing it on the BBC Antiques Road Trip programme. It is near the harbour front but difficult to park near. It has lots of cabinets with material from different dealers. The quality of the things on sale and the way in which they are displayed varies greatly. The majority is less than 100 years old - there are relatively few actual antiques. Worth a look but I saved my money for an auction the next day.

On our holidays we like antique and vintage shops
Some nice things. Totally spoilt though by the two women behind counter constantly gossiping out loud about someone who rents a cabinet in the shop!!
Pulling them apart and generally showing themselves up to be rather "nasty". Don't they realise customers hear everything and this makes them appear nasty!!
They were totally uninterested in the customers !!!
Please consider you are heard and do not impress customers!!

We have visited every time we pop to Whitby and bought a few items, despite the aloof staff, often she will ignore your presence even when they have nothing else to do!! We visit mostly on Saturdays, one time in October 2018 my daughter who is 18 sweetly asked the woman what her best price would be on a John Barleycorn jug. She said the owner had told her not to reduce anything in the window, and then proceeded to tell us to try else where. We were speechless and walked out a bit disappointed , but sure enough we found them cheaper on ebay and at the Malvern Flea. They seem to like tourist's money but not their presence, without tourists you have no job. Please send all staff on customer service skills training, I love browsing but wont be going there again. It would be a shame to see it replaced by yet another charity shop.

I bought a pair of Whitby jet cufflinks. Good quality and price. After I paid. And looked in the bag they where put in I opened the box to have another look . Then asked for a receipt saying they where Whitby jet as described. The elderly woman serving me said out loud . I think you are very rude. When asked why she replied because I checked inside the box and asked for a description receipt. This was when the shop was half full. If I hadn't already paid she would have lost a sale. She was very rude. I will not be going back and don't recommend this shop. Unless it is not the elderly lady serving.

Popped in just to have a nosey around whilst spending some time in Whitby.

Unfortunately, it was disturbing to hear a member of staff (an older lady) discussing their, somewhat, ill-informed and slightly racist views on the situation evolving in Afghanistan.

Whether or not I agreed with their views, I don't think it's a great idea to be discussing them so openly in such a forum.

I would go as far to say the other lady felt a little uncomfortable with what was being said.

Very snobbish ? Owner ? Shop assistant who cares, took it upon herself to move myself and my teenage daughter away from her shop front (husband browsing inside - a keen collector) dressed in casual clothes and walking shoes obviously not the clientele she liked. We are both in professional positions , not vagrants!! Well lady I didn't like your junk either!!

An unwelcoming greeting awaits you from the aloof staff in this shop, please don't ask for a discount from the already over inflated prices, you won't be offered one, how this shop is still open is a complete mystery

We were trying to get into the shop to have a look around, there was a person talking and blocking the door. We kindly asked her if she could move and she said 'i work hear, i can do what i like!'. found this very rude so didn't go in.

Popped in for a look round. Lots of cabinets and plenty to look at over two floors. Pricey to say the least, just one or two sellers had things priced reasonably.

The woman behind the counter was asked politely by a pleasant seeming man if he could look in a cabinet. Despite the place being very quiet she rolled her eyes and stropped about, standing by the cabinet with her hands on her hips and an expression on her face like a slapped backside, we thought she was very rude.

My husband collects silver and had his eye on a small silver box, I liked a charming celluloid dog brooch. Since neither item was unique we decided not to trouble the rude assistant. There are plenty of antique centres around run by charming people, no need to buy from an overpriced shop where customers are regarded as an inconvenience.
