I recently visited this museum and found it a fascinating experience. The building itself is very beautiful and the exhibitions, particularly the one about the first world war, are well presented and most interesting

Lovely little local museum run by volunteers. Mixed exhibits (world war 2; geology; railways) all with a local slant. Cheap entry. Every visitor should take a look to support the enterprise.

A fascinating little museum bringing to life the old town of Settle and surrounds. The staff are most helpful and knowledgeable. Not to be missed.

I like this museum, we had vouchers from papers to visit so taking into account the cost of the papers it cost us 50 pence each but even then the admission cost is still quite low (and children are free). I found the restrictions on any photos annoying but was allowed to take a couple on the first floor. What... More

The worst museum I have ever visited. And they charged me an entrance fee. Nice building to look at from the outside. Don't bother to go inside.

An interesting building with some great displays on local history. There are regular exhibitions of art and artefacts (e.g. loaned collections) so it's worth going more than once! There are also lots of activities for children - there is dressing up stuff downstairs and games/trails to follow, plus activity sessions around Christmas and Easter. They've recently set up a small... More

Visited on a very quiet Sunday. The museum is ideal if it's a rainy day and you want something indoors. A couple of quiz sheets for the children to do and the building has an interesting history.

Just a few yards from the Market Square, the Folly is an impressive seventeenth century building, and houses interesting collections (changed at intervals) on local geology, history, and life. Well worth an hour or two

The Folly always has something different and interesting to look at. We have up to Settle a couple of times this year and popped in to have a look round. The volunteers do a brilliant job and are very helpful. We shall visit again when we are up next year.

'We're very pleased you enjoyed your visit to the museum. As you discovered, our volunteer staff are always as friendly and helpful as possible, but they work within certain guidelines. We are very sorry but photography is not allowed without prior arrangement. This is to protect the items on display in The Folly, as many items are on loan and... More
