In a word, sublime. Hunker down in the back and order yourself a burger and sides. If you don’t knock over the jenga halloomi then their signature hot chill sauce will throw you on your ass. Something had tremendous amounts of garlic in it (we’re not complaining) but word to the wise if you’re here on a date share your food and take them down with you!

Would love to write a really nice review but I can’t.

Unfortunately I visited this venue, ordered wings on Wednesday. Sat down and waited 45 mins to be told they had sold out.

This wouldn’t have been too bad as I know this happens at places but after viewing customers that arrived 5 mins after me getting served theirs first. Hmmmmm

Then told I could order something else, unfortunately at this point my lunch break was nearly over. So asked for a refund. This was sorted but was told it could take up to 3-5 working days to get back in to may account.

Very quick to take it but slow to give back.

We were down in Norwich for a few days with me family and a friend. We visited here on an off chance after seeing it online, I’m so glad we ended up in here, 2-4-1 cocktails and gins! Perfect! We ordered some food and it was absolutely unreal!!! The Cauli Korean wings are a must 😍 the staff can’t do enough for you they’re so attentive and friendly. We left around 9pm and went up to their sister bar the wildman till midnight. We didn’t want to leave it was just as great! Thank you so much, we will be back 🍻

Had the best service and evening I’ve ever experienced the other night. We were greeted and sat promptly, felt very comfortable and safe with the COVID restrictions in place and enjoyed some amazing drinks and food. Kian our waiter was second to none and ensured we were never without a drink, the short rib and burnt butter sweet corn were 10/10. Thanks to matteo and Charlie for the fantastic cocktails and reccomendations. Will be returning!!

First time at this place. Last time at this place. I couldn't tell whether the burger was good or not because there was so much sauce it drowned out any other flavour - and the sauce was not good. The burger was absolutely dripping with the gunky, spicy stuff. I might as well have ordered a pot of the sauce instead of the burger. As it was my first time there I asked a couple of questions about the food before ordering but the guy at the bar really didn't give a sh*t.

Stumbled across this pub and looked nice and cosy so went in and were very happy we did. Lovely layout, lighting and open fire and welcoming and helpful bar staff. Great beers, but the best thing is the food!!! Absolutely delicious. Not the usual bland pub grub. Wiull definitely be back next time I'm in Norwich. Oh, I forgot, there is also a pub dog called Alan!

Great meal tonight, superb in fact. Had a few bits left over that I'd like to have taken away. Asked for a box to a reply of "we don't do that", so I then asked for a bit of foil. Nah none of that in the kitchen either. Really?

So the left overs went in the bin I guess...shame that.

Arrived at 1500 on Saturday the 14th April to meet up with some friends for a 40th birthday. Got there a little early with a friend having never been there before and to get the lay of the land. Pub itself is clean and they have a very good selection of Whisky & Gin, can’t comment on the Ale as wasn’t drinking that but the Amstel was very nice. The issue that has led me to the low rating is the staff’s lack of understanding and the unwillingness to listen to someone with a disability. I don’t walk particularly well due to breaking my neck in a car accident many years ago.

So, steps, sticky floors and busy places can be difficult for me to navigate and as such I tend to, if possible, furniture/wall walk to enable me to keep my balance, unsurprisingly alcohol doesn’t help this so I could appear to be very drunk when in fact I am not. The way I walk should have been blatantly obvious to the staff when I walked in at 1500 having not had a drink, however, at 0030 when asking for a final drink whilst waiting for a taxi myself and remaining friends were refused service because and I quote "you look a little unsteady and we think you have had enough". Whilst I appreciate that any licensed premises can refuse service to anyone they wish without justification the opportunity to be listened to properly would have been appreciated, especially as despite being a bit unsteady neither myself or any of our group had caused any trouble of any kind, unlike the table behind us that were sitting on the window sills, knocking a number of glasses onto the floor and generally being far louder than is required when having a drink in a bar, nothing said to them.

Upon being refused service we were also told it was only 25 minutes before they were closing so there was no point anyway, the relevance of this I am not clear on, this however didn’t stop the staff serving a number people who walked in at 0045 whilst we were waiting outside for a taxi and who were quite clearly in a far worse state than we were. I would also add that the manager who decided that I had had enough at 0030 was the same person who served me the first pint when I walked in at 1500.

So to conclude, nothing wrong with the pub at all and the staff were polite throughout but had no interest in listening to me, having seen me walk back and forth to the toilet at least half a dozen times if there excuse for no service was because I had drunk enough and looked unsteady then they should have made that call a lot earlier in the night, collectively the group spent in excess of £400 and combined with a lack of understanding or interest in someone that may have a disability that isn’t obvious as to why, it felt like we’ve had your money, now you can go. All in all a shame and a sour end to what had been a good day/evening, I thought in today’s day and age we had got past this type of discrimination/lack of understanding. Clearly not.

Wow! Great evening spent learning about gin, the history, the distillation and the botanicals that give some amazing flavours. The Bullard’s gin is relatively young company headed up by 2 guys very passionate about their product. The tour lasted around 2 1/2 hours and started with the still before moving into the bottling area. This was followed by a tasting and history session where Craig (Director) talked us through the Gins from 16th century up to today and what the future may have in store.

The Ten Bells, is also a great venue for this, with the gin being distilled on site and Bullard’s now taking on the running of the bar as well. A cosy pub/bar in a very up and coming part of Norwich. If you haven’t ventured down St Bendict’s st for a while, it’s definitely worth a look.
