The countryside is all looking a bit brown right now. The Riverside Walk in Norwich make a lovely cool alternative to a country walk. Plenty of shade, cool places to sit, and nearby cafes and pubs to get a cold drink. If it all still gets too much you can retreat into the cathedral.

The walk passes some interesting historic buildings - in particular the cow tower, part of the defences of the city to deter attacks by river. There are also notable industrial buildings, in particular St James Mill. Further on the Quayside - which used to be the docks area, is a sympathetic conversion of former commercial buildings.
There are several pieces of public art - from the art installation of crates, that reference the former quayside, through to a Barbara Hepworth.
Most of the bridges are modern, and you can start and end the walk at many points, but one, Bishop Bridge is medieval. There are display boards at several points which give interesting insights into the buildings and history. All the green spaces were clean and well maintained.

Nice peaceful walk in the centre of a city. Lots of benches, and no rubbish! Many interesting buildings and history - Pull's Ferry, Cow Tower and historic bridges. Lovely cafe by Wensum Bridge with a hidden courtyard. The only downside is that the walk is not mobility scooter friendly if starting from the railway station, we had to carry it down stairs through a pub yard.
Good addition for the city.

This for me was one of the best things about Norwich - the riverside walk which is just outside the centre of the city. It was a lovely late spring day when we visited with plenty of people out for a stroll and the flowers in bloom. The views are lovely which give a different slant to the city.

This is a nice gentle walk along the riverside in Norwich with easy access and suitable for push chairs and wheelchairs. Along the way is an interesting ruined tower - part of the city's defenses - and some interesting sculptures to help explain the history of the area. Most enjoyable.

This is a nice uncrowded walk alongside of the river close to the railway station. Its built up with apartments and eating places. On the other side of the bridge the walk is on the other side of the river and with more open spaces. There are a number of boats moored which are not in good condition and unsightly, not what you want to see. Balanced with that you might see a number of swans and ducks. The City council has allowed the area to deteriorate compared with other cities with river walks. I have given it an average marking but it should be excellent.

Without doubt, this was one of the nicest things we did in Norwich. We started from the Cathedral and walked the short way down Ferry Lane to the very attractive house at Pull’s Ferry where we turned left and followed the river path past Bishop’s Bridge, Cow Tower and Jarrold Bridge to Quayside. This stretch of the river is lovely, and so peaceful you would never think you were in a city centre.

At Quayside we crossed over to the Creative Quarter for a short stroll before coming back over to the more touristy, but still attractive Elm Hill area.

It was a very enjoyable walk and, when allied to the Cathedral Quarter, is the nicest part of the city centre.

The river walks around Norwich are very easy to access and there are a great many bridges so one can re-enter the city at every couple of hundred yards or so. Everything is very well signposted in Norwich. I was lucky to have some sunshine on my river walks, which makes for better photos. I was very bemused to see a seal swimming in the river up near Weatherspoons where the river goes out towards the broads. Of course when I went to take a picture it went camera shy and disappeared beneath the surface.

We parked along the road to Whittlingham Broad. Walked/rode from there beside the ring road to Carrow Road bridge. Turned directly left after the bridge and joined the Riverside walk. Crossed over the road in front of the train station at the bridge and then rejoined the Riverside walk down a ramp opposite the Compleat Angler pub. Passed Pulls Ferry, Cow Tower, looked round the Cathedral. Then went up Elm Hill, back to the walk beside the river and returned passing the Riverside Complex. Plenty of lovely views, eateries. Seen Norwich from a very different perspective. Was clean, very enjoyable and would highly recommend to anyone wanting a walk with mobility scooter

We didn’t take a formal tour but did walk along parts of the river during our visit to the city. Lots of really interesting old buildings & bridges to look at & photograph. A nice way to traverse your way through some of the oldest parts of Norwich.

Riverside Walk - Norwich

We live a 2hr drive from here right next to the Beach on the Essex Coast. We absolutely love where we live because of the long walks we can do along the seafront, but we thoroughly enjoyed visiting Norwich and finding this little gem of a walk. It was a beautiful sunny day, we had just had lunch in a little chinese restaurant and needed to walk that off. Infact there are MANY restaurants along the riverside to choose from.
I walk with a walker and found the path more than suitable for it’s wheels - something which we certainly didn’t find in Norwich Town with its beautiful old cobbled pathways, but for which my wrists suffered terribly after that visit!! Our stroll was very peaceful with a few benches dotted along the riverside with people having a coffee and their lunch; we even had a family of very pretty swans visit us along the way and someone going past in a canoe - how cool is that!

Overall a lovely visit.
