A quiet park
Nov 2019
Located right beside Dorman's museum and the WW2 monuments, walk through the gates and along through the path you'll find a large wide open field on one side which is sometimes used for festivals, and to the left you'll find a large children's playground with a huge blue climbing frame with ropes and poles to climb on. In the middle of the park you'll see a large fountain, on nice days you'll see it spurting out sparkling water and people throwing in pennies to make a wish, but often the water will just look dirty and the fountain will look old on a dull and cloudy day. On the far end of the park you'll find a large lake where you can feed some ducks and some nice paths for you to go on a quiet walk and enjoy the fresh air. Sometimes there are large fairs here like ones for the asian community or for jobs fairs. You can go for a walk or bike ride, best to go on a sunny day although those are rare in Middlesbrough.

Not the most dog friendly

A lovely park with lots to see and do although the risk of a £1000 fine for having your dog off the lead in certain areas is a bit of a letdown.

I used to play here when I was very young 5-11. It hasn't changed much! Took our granddaughter for a picnic.

Takes me back

We visited the park recently to see the Middlesbrough Mela, I was brought up being taken to this park when I was a child and this place still holds a soft spot for me. Well maintained and very pleasant to walk around.

Middlesbrough mela
Aug 2019 • Friends
Went to Albert park today for the mela ,the park is lovely and spacious enough , we parked nearby on the green opposite the port hole cafe and it was a lovely sunny day, plenty to see and do and rides galore ,stalls and plenty of eateries to sample, not enough table and chairs near food outlets and also unfortunately when there see a bit of trouble with police trying to sort out two young lads dealing drugs.a good couple of hours here if weather fine, wasn’t as busy as i thought but just enough to take your time enjoying it.

Ticks all the boxes - lovely park close to centre of town
Jun 2019 • Couples
Lovely park, always surprisingly clean for a park so close to the centre of town. Lots of wide open green spaces, so great for picnics and throwing around a frisbee. Lots of good tarmac paths for running and the park hosts a weekly Park Run most saturdays at 9am.

There are two children's playareas, one for younger kids in the centre of the park and one for older kids at the back near the basketball courts. There is also a roller rink near to the lake, a boules lawn and tennis courts near to the main entrance. There are several statues and sculptures to discover as wandering around, a bandstand, plus the main fountain in the centre of the park is quite ornate.

Parking is very limited at the front of the park, but there is roadside parking and a small carpark at the rear of the park (near to the older children's playground and pond).

There is a lovely large pond which is popular for fishing with a few fishing jetties and small boats/pedlos in the summer. You can buy duck food in the cafe for £1 a bag and there are lots of ducks. There are also a couple of swans that lay eggs every year on the pond banks, sadly scruffy vandals usually destroy the nests so hopefully there will be tighter security this year - as I again spotted the swan nesting 2 weeks ago.

There are toilets near the main children's play area, in the centre of the park near to the large fountain, however these never seem to be open? But the toilets at the cafe at the skate park, near to the lake, are open during main hours. We visit every month or so for a walk and to spin the many pokestops and pokemon gyms (8?)
