Great evening learning how to cut up and portion a whole lamb. The 2 butchers were very informative but also it was a light hearted evening. Loved it. We end up eating a fantastic meal (lamb) and loads of red wine. Thanks to my daughter for a great birthday present. On top of this is the fact that the Ginger... More

My brother bought me a butchery course for my birthday so we went along and prepped some beef. On arrival, we changed into a nice butchers coat and washed our hands ready to start work. We prepped a 'roasting' basically one half-centre piece of a cow from the rump to the fore rib. The butcher showed us how to prep... More

My son and family moved to Marylebone this year. When we visited he ranted about the meat pies from the Ginger Pig. We went with him to pick some up, and they did not disappoint. Also had a sausage roll from there for brunch on Christmas morning. Really good, and it's easy to appreciate why the line was around the... More

Ok, so this was somewhere i did not know existed and my life has been improved by its' discovery. They do the BEST pies i have ever tasted. Also some amazing sausage rolls. If we were not at the start of a visit to London from Northampton I would also have bought smethibg from their amazing butchers shop. The staff... More

Superbly impressed with the beef butchery class. Wasn't sure what to expect but upon entering I was met with a butchers shop, I was welcomed and sent to my station. The course was informal and fun but I actually learnt loads from the master butcher (a Slovenian chap whose name I've forgotten). At first I thought the package might be... More

I used to be a regular at the Ginger Pig and loved everything about it. I had noticed that the sausage rolls were getting smaller (probably 3/4s of the size they used to be) which was disappointing but I let it slide. However, last week I went in to buy my usual favourite sausage rolls for the family only to... More

Attended a butchery class tonight. A butcher demonstrated the butchering of a cow. We loved the explanation regarding curing the meat, what to ask from your butcher, as well as the different cuts of meat. We then got a piece of meat that we finalised. The evening was finalised with tasting of well prepared meat and some wine. With more... More

Cant get my head round how good this sausage roll was. Had some pretty good food in the last year or so but this £4 sausage roll was right up there. Having been to Hawksmoor a few times, myself and my friends have wanted to visit The Ginger Pig for a long time. Been in London with some time to... More

Have been a regular of the Ginger Pig for the last 2 years, primarily to buy their take away lunch box, which more often than not is a selection of bbq meat cuts (pulled pork, rump steak, chicken, sausage) together with all the trimmings. The quality of the beef at this butcher is superb, and couple that with a £6.50... More

Best sausage roll EVER. Start with an overly sage sausage (which is my favorite sausage flavor profile). Wrap it in a solid pastry. Be sure to have them heat it. Outstanding.

Staying in Marylebone

Neighborhood Profile
Marylebone offers what so many London neighborhoods cannot: a village feel coupled with urban convenience. Much of its success rests in its location. Wedged between the northeastern corner of Hyde Park and the southern end of Regent's Park and with a number of Tube stations within easy reach, Marylebone is as pedestrian friendly as Central London gets. The bustling shopping mecca of Oxford Street separates it from Soho and Mayfair, exclusive Regent Street marks its border with Fitzrovia, and cosmopolitan Edgware Road serves as its western edge. Within this enviably situated quarter are an array of outstanding restaurants (from Michelin darlings to down and dirty cheeseburgers), an impressive assortment of independently owned shops, and some of the city's quietest and most pleasant nooks, crannies and cobbled lanes.
