Neighborhood: Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.

Turkish Coffee is my Delight.
Nov 2021 • Couples
On spotting the sign ‘Turkish Coffee’ I made a B line straight for it knocking over people on my way!
It’s been too long for me since my last proper Turkish coffee and I wasn’t disappointed. Exactly what I hoped for with the added bonus of quite delightful service. Do not miss this stall on your next visit to a Borough Market.

Horrible experience at the Turkish Deli , Borough Market London
Oct 2019 • Family
My family and I travelled to London for a family vacation from Toronto Canada. We spend a lovely afternoon at the Borough Market last week Thursday exploring what it had to offer. We stopped at the Turkish Deli and bought Turkish Delight for our children and set at the designated sitting area for customers. While my kids and spouse were eating the Turkish Delights an angry employee approached me and said “ Can you read the sign on the table ?!?! It’s clearly says no outside food allowed!! Why you are eating outside food ?!?!” My husband and I were a bit shocked and quickly arranged our kids and cleared the table. I asked my husband to watch the kids while I speak to the manager about what just happened.

I approached the counter, the lady stood there looking at me in very intimidating manner. I approached her and said that the way she spoke to me was disrespectful and she could have at least asked me politely to put my sandwich away.
I approached the counter to explain to her that the reason she spotted unrecognized food is due to the fact I am diabetic and have diet restrictions and since I am required to take with medications (something I did few seconds before she approached our table) I had to eat my pre-made food I had in my purse. Unfortunately living with diabetes, I am unable to consume the treats from the Turkish Deli that my family ate.

I attempted to explain that to the lady but instead she started an argument and yelled that I only spent £6 and doesn't make me a customer (!!!) For the record, We spent over £18 but didn’t know at the Turkish Deli at the Borough Market , being a client is measured by the amount of money you spent... I told her her she should be ashamed for saying such a thing to me and she humiliated me in front of my children at the table and now continuing to do so in front of the customers and people who were passing by. She called me a liar and few other “pleasant descriptions” as of what she was thinking of me.

At that point the manager came out and instead of calming me down , the customer, who was bullied by his employee, he raised his voice at me and chased my family and I from the area humiliated, embarrassed and emotionally hurt.

A beautiful afternoon with my love ones at the Borough Market turned into a nightmare, humiliating and shameful experience I don’t wish upon no one.

Dear Anna, You are clearly annoyed and incensed by taking time to review my business and your experience. You chose to wash your dirty laundry in public and you have left me no choice but to respond to these malicious allegations. Firstly, if you were able to read and understand English, the signs on our tables clearly state that no other food is allowed to be consumed other than that purchased at our shop. It also says that you are in any doubt, JUST ASK. You clearly thought it did not apply to you. You took it upon yourself to occupy our seats to consume other products, without first asking. Would you go into McDonalds with food purchased at KFC to consume that food. If you think that is right, you need to re-assess your behaviour. I am sure this is not even acceptable in Canada. Regarding my staff being rude to you whilst acting on my instructions, I was not present and cannot comment. Though knowing the member of staff, this is highly unlikely. But what I can comment on is your unacceptable ranting within my shop. You were not prepared to listen to our explanation, continuing to shout. Adults with any dispute normally have a two way conversation, to resolve the matter. From your behaviour you clearly did not want to resolve the situation. I cannot understand how you having diabetes is relevant. The gentleman that was with you chose not to get involved, which tells me a lot about you. I am sure your children were embarrassed by your behaviour, we were not the cause. You should lead by example, and this ranting was not a good example to your children. Basically, you were asked to leave and you did not like it. Finally and more importantly, I feel that you actions towards my employee was erring on the side of being racist.

Perfect street food

A little stall at London's borough market, myself and a friend stopped here to rest our legs on their outdoor seating. It was only a quick coffee stop, served in takeaway cups, but plenty of Turkish drinks on offer. I also had a shortbread filled with Turkish delight which was incredible and well worth a taste!

I had a Meze box and everything in it was delicious. If you visit the Borough Market you should give it a try.

Always a treat for people watching.

Took the lids on a day out and stopped here. Try a simple Turkish coffee with whatever flavour you want. Have a shortbread with Turkish delight with it, and then sit down to watch the tourists. My eleven year old liked it as well.
Perfect.
