This is the kind of place you go to and leave something behind so you have reason to return. The warmest of welcome in these Covid compliant times, these folk were born hospitable. Join the relaxed local 20-30 something crowd for a range of decent beer & wine, a lovely lunch with options for all tastes - Sunday: Roast Suffolk Corn Fed Chicken Supreme (Yorkshire pudding bigger than Peru), Seasonal Vegetable Nut Roast & the divine Summer Berries & Apple Crumble with vanilla ice cream and enjoy the music.

lovely mother's day...

My elderly mum is not usually a fan of pubs, but she loves this place! It has a lot of atmosphere, with a nice mixed group of clientele, families of all ages, couples, tourists and locals taking advantage of the nice walk along the canal.
Really enjoyable chicken roast dinner meal. Generous portion, chciken was tender and tasty, with a selection of veg.baby parsnips with spring greens, carrots and green beans, all cooked perfectly.
Roasties were good but not amazing, but Yorkshire pudding was way better than I can do at home!
The piano player is great, and was charming and helpful in taking a request for my mum. Thoroughly recommend this pub for Sunday lunch, and also depending on your tastes the plays here are also really good.
Only minor issue is the toilet cubicles are so small its difficult to maanouver ones self. At one point the toilet chain got caught in my hair, and I joked with a couple of girls about the dimensions being slightly scant. If you are overweight or larger built the ladies toilets will be deeply uncomfortable unfortunately!
Other than that minor niggle this is a great pub, one of my favourites and suitable for mums who don't usually frequent such venues...

As a small theatre, it is a perfect venue
May 2016 • Family
Everyone or nearly, knows that there are millions of actors who not only struggle to find work but also have to pay there "dues" before they get their big breaks. i can imagine that the Rosemary Branch Theatre and Pub is one such venue that keeps the actors rehearsing and in employ, so to speak. So it was with amusement that i booked two tickets here to see "Persuasion" an interpretation of Jane Austen's last oeuvre with my fledgling actor student daughter to spy on the future competition. It was a revelation. They made quite an effort, but oddly enough, the best actor was the tall skinny blond male who hadn't been trained at all. Go figure. But we loved the atmosphere in the theatre, and the people managing it, above the nice pub are obvious theatre buffs or even actors themselves. At any rate, this is what keeps the story going isn't it and The Rosemary Branch, in Hoxton is a great find in this upcoming neighbourhood.

Great theatre, beer, food, venue

The theatre is tiny, above a pub, but the atmosphere was terrific. How hard that must be for the actors, playing with little props and almost one to nose with their audience - no room for errors. A really passionate Jane Eyre with good performances all round. Jane and Rochester were engrossing and tragic, the other performers sharing the roles between them.
The pub is also worth mentioning, it had a lively feel, good beer, real fire and friendly staff. The food was also tasty - they warmed mine up after the performance for me as I didn't have time to finish it.
Toilets (ladies) tiny.

Went to see a play in this small theatre which is above a lovely buzzy pub. Play was small but excellent and service and atmosphere in pub great.
