The area
Address
Neighborhood: Chelsea
Wealth courses through The King's Road, Chelsea's upmarket artery of West London life packed with shops, eateries and glitzy nightspots. For people-watching at its best and luxury retail therapy that's largely unrivalled, this area cannot be missed. But if this showy street starts to overwhelm or a moment of price tag shock sends you reeling, a quick detour down pretty much any of many King's Road veins will reveal a quieter side of Chelsea. Here the stately Royal Hospital hosts its world-famous flower show, and the Thames rolls along at a lazy pace, with leafy Battersea Park and its Peace Pagoda beckoning from across the river.

Stunning building
Aug 2021 • Couples
Love this historic building that’s a piece of architectural history. Love the Michelin Man in the stained glass and the style of the building.

Unfortunately, the main restaurant was shut but what a great visit to the oyster bar. I love Art Deco anyway but this is just stunning. Had fantastic cocktails, a must-see

A Must-see & Must-go place in London. Beautifull Michelin (tire company) garage turned into design palace by Sir Terrance Conran, restaurant, raw bar, flower shop and much more.

Art Deco at it's earliest...!

An easy walk from South kensington tube station, this ex Michelin office, built in 1911, is worth a trip in itself. It always amazes me that Michelin were still there until the mid 1980s, although they might still have been had they accepted the offered planning permission in the late 1960s to demolish all but the grade II listed facade, and build a ten storey office block behind it. Michelin instead later moved their office to the US, leaving this wonderful building to become the bar/restaurant/shop it is today. I adore the stained glass windows depicting the 'Michelin Man', and the colourful tiles showing the racing cars of the day. One of the most iconic buildings in London.

If while visiting London I do not visit this spot, I will have the feeling that I have not been at.

And of course Conran Shop, this time I had the chance to have some rounds playing with a French pinball, and all this while celebrating Pinball Wizard 50th anniversary and my 25th weeding anniversary.

Lively social hour
Oct 2019 • Couples
Fun and interesting venue for social drinks. Service was outstanding. While we didn’t have dinner there the menu was diverse and looked appetizing. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The flower shop and display in outdoor seating area is charming.

This is one funky building

The old headquarters of Michelin Tyre Company, hence the name is now the location of a restaurant. I didn't eat here and came just to see the building as an architectural piece of art. Built the Art-Nouveau style. There are many nature, late Art Nouveau elements to admire and don't miss the Michelin man inspired stained glass

This is one funky building and worth a detour if in the South Kensington area

Lovely dinner French style

The old garage is authentic and an amazing place to have lunch or dinner. On Sunday evening, a good band played jazzy music accompanied by an excellent singer. We had a light dinner, the food was very good, good price/quality ratio.

Beautiful house in a beautiful part of London
Feb 2019 • Solo
Very pretty house in a lovely area - worth having a look inside, as well as at beautiful flowers that are sold here. Not far from South Kensigton station and Harrods.
