The area
Address
Neighborhood: Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.

Not bad if you have children
Oct 2021 • Family
The actors and actresses inside the event were amazing and I’m unsure how they stayed so positive. The staff on the door were rude and in chaos. On average you waited outside in the queue for 15 mins but if you were at least a minute early for your slot then you weren’t allowed in. The irritation is that once inside there starts your 45 minute queue whilst you are forced to have photos taken, shuffle along in a very over crowded non social distanced group. It’s really painful. Once the adventure starts then it’s ok and our 9 year old did enjoy it which is why we do these things in the first place. I was mystified by those that didn’t have children with them. If your in town without your children or simply don’t have any then the dungeon or aquarium are probably more enjoyable.

Fun but expensive for what it is
Oct 2021 • Couples
We got 2 free tickets for Shrek Adventure so thought we would give it a go. We were both visiting as adults and thought we would be able to walk through the attraction in our own time like at Madame Tussaud’s. This attraction is definitely for under 5s but could be quite scary for them, some children became upset in our group. It is an organised walk through experience with actors portraying characters from the films who you are locked in various rooms with. The tour took around 30 minutes overall with an opportunity to have a photo with shrek at the end but costs an extra £25 to purchase and you are not allowed to take photos during the tour. We did not realise the video at the start was meant to be 4D until we left, I am unsure what the 4D element was? As we got free tickets it was a fun cheesy attraction to pop into and we had a laugh but would not be worth the money if you paid!

Great for small kids
Oct 2021
We bought this as part of a combination ticket. It is very well planned out, and all the actors play their parts very well, but unless you have very small children, you may want to give it a miss! We took our teen who was by far the oldest child present! The bus ride was the highlight of the visit.
All the very young children present seemed to really enjoy it.

Simply great fun

I hadn’t been to Shrek’s Adventure for a number of years and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it is. Kids will love it (though very little ones may find some of it a bit noisy or scary) and adults will enjoy the panto-style puns and double entendres. Though to enjoy those you would need good spoken English; I assume they adapt the show for international visitors as on our tour everyone was either British or American. We’d originally been delayed so arrived very late for our booked slot but the team couldn’t have been more helpful. We had tried calling ahead but the number on the tickets wouldn’t connect - the only minor negative in an otherwise excellent time. The tour is only just over an hour but it’s great fun and then there’s the rest of the South Bank to enjoy!

Awesome Experience
Oct 2021 • Family
On our last day down south visiting family I took my daughter to Shreks Adventure and it was fantastic!!

We didn't know what to expect at all as the website didn't give much away so we were pleasantly surprised with our experience!

You start the tour by getting pictures taken which you can purchase at the end.

We were taken on to a big bus which donkey was driving. There was screens all around and it was kind of like a stimulate experience. To be honest I came off feeling quite dizzy. While on the way to far far away the bus ran over rumpelstiltskin's favourite witch. So the witches are chasing you.

You go into different sections meeting characters from shrek while they hp you get to the next section away from the witches.

At the end you are led into a dungeon with seats. The seats make movements under you which are rats. Shrek then breaks you out of the dungeon where you are led to a portal to get back to London.

At the end shrek comes to greet you and have pictures taken. Shrek gave my 3 year old a hug and high five which she absolutely loved.

You then have a chance to purchase photos. When we received the photos it wasn't just of shrek, there was a how to train your dragon photo and a king fu panda.

It was so much fun and something we would definitely consider doing again when in London:)

We bought these tickets along with 4 other attractions, this was more aimed at little kids rather than the 14 year old with her mum and dad.

Try’s hard but dated and awkward in 2021
It’s for kids mainly and it’s a shame it doesn’t end with a 4D “bus” ride like it began.
You certainly need at least 15 people per tout otherwise it must get awkward for the actors who have to work hard to create and keep a certain atmosphere.
All in all a bit dated and surreal. Certainly not worth more than £15 at most.

brilliant hour in Shrek
Oct 2021
Absolutely brilliant. All of the actors cinderella, sleeping beauty, barman, fortune teller were so dedicated to their characters and especially have to mention Thelonious who was hilarious from start to finish and totally was involved in his character, his facial expressions were something else !
The tour guide was also fab and got our small group raring to go. with dancing along in the bus depot.
The attraction was clean and the scenery walking through the corridoors was so cool as well.
I suggest maybe 4 year olds and up is a great age but there was something for everyone right up to adults. We were a family of 3 adults and had a great time.

Fantastic
We visited Shrek Word of Adventure with 2 kids. The tickets were booked in advance for given time, so we didn’t need to wait in front of building. Kids absolutely loved the experience. They got involved with characters and the plays in each room are funny for grown ups too!
Shrek with connection to London Eye amazing morning in the City!

Best attraction of the day
By far the best attraction of the day. The boys (both7) laughed all the way round. They really enjoyed it and so did we. They got involved on the way around and asked to go round again after.

I really recommend this for everyone
