Visited Camden branch after many years. Nice clean and generally well maintained. Studio floor was a bit dusty & changing rooms were a bit dirty too but apart from those minor issues a lovely gym. Would work here / visit again Thanks

I am not a member of gym but utilise day passes local to where I am visiting at the time. As i entered I was greeted by two smiling instructors; unknowingly I did not have all necessary stuff with me (towel and padlock) but fine- the guys sorted me out then gave me a quick tour. Lots of machines to choose from - a 'large-ish' space and not cramped. The space has a retro industrial Berlin feel with visible pipes; and clean. The changing rooms and showers had a dated feel but in closer view, also spotless. Great central location yet in a quiet side street. Colin.

Awful experience trying to cancel my membership. I clearly asked a member of staff for my membership to be cancelled in the beginning of May however received an email weeks later stating this had not been done. I was then subsequently asked to pay an additional month of membership so ended up having to pay 2 months after having cancelled my membership.

I went along to the Waterloo branch of Soho gyms with a colleague, to enquire about membership. Our company had recently moved to a nearby office, so there had been discussion in the office around joining a local gym. My colleague and I went over to Soho gym, with the idea being that a few more colleagues would register later.
We walked in, and were met by an older gent standing by reception.
We weren't overly sure on whether or not he worked there, so we went over to a fitness instructor. He was friendly and approachable, so we started asking him about membership.
A bizarre conversation then ensued.
The fitness instructor was being friendly, helpful and answering our questions. The older gent came over and tried to cut the conversation short/attempted to undermine his colleague at every point. The conversation went something like this:
"What is your minimum membership term? Is it possible to join for 1 month initially?"
Fitness Instructor- "We have a number of membership options, I have a leaflet here. The 1 month membership is slightly more expensive, but the monthly membership......"
"NO!"- front-of-house.
With an abrupt no, and a shake of the head, we were made to feel that he wanted us to instantly leave.
"Is it possible to be shown around the gym first? And do you do trials?"
"Yes, of course..."- fitness instructor.
"NO!"- front-of-house.
Again, abrupt, rude and stand-off-ish.
At this point, we were starting to feel very unwelcome.
I don't know if membership had already reached full capacity?- but he appeared absolutely set on not letting us join.
Me- "I am not sure what is going on here, but you seem to be disagreeing with everything your colleague says. You tell me we can't have a trial, and that we can't join, but your colleague says we can... we're getting mixed messages here?"
"Well, I am the receptionist"- Front-of-house.
Power trip?
The front-of-house made it clear he didn't want us there. We decided to leave. The fitness instructor then gave us a leaflet to take away. As we were walking away, Mr front-of-house then turned to his fitness instructor colleague, and started berating him in front of us for having spoken to us. Absolutely bizarre. I feel awfully sorry for the colleagues of Mr Front-of-house.
We got on google search, and went to Colombo sports centre nearby. Completely different feel- friendly, approachable, helpful... and a fraction of the price!

I'm staying at Union Jack Club. And this morning went.
The only thing he did for me was to swipe me in. And offer me a towel.
I asked if he could show me round and if they had lockers.
He would not help me in anyway in fact I did not think he could Speak English
I nearly walked out at that point but did not. Sorry he did tell me where your drinking water was.
Eventually found locker area and had to leave my bag in an open locker Not happy about.
Then found x trainer but as I did not know how it worked and the instructions went off before I was half way through. Used it for couple of minutes. Then got on rowing machine ok.
Whilst on exercise mat spoke to lady who had been on next door x trainer she said I should have ask Alex how it worked. I said I had! He was useless !
She then showed me and I used it.....
But decided to ask for complaint form.
When I asked Alex I learnt he could speak good English and was then trying to bribe me offering me a drink of some kind.
In disgust I walked back to UJC. And spoke to reception the said complain via trip advisor

So I usually go to gym even when I travel, got myself a daily pass in here and it was one of the best decisions.
This gym is clean, friendly, very well equipped and very very very well located.
If you are traveling to London and wanted a good, serious workout, then search this place.

Soho gyms offer a free trail pass which you can apply for through their website. I’ve applied for it and when I was filling in the forms at the reception I did say that I work for another gym and don’t live locally I was asked to pay £15 for entry. When I questioned that I was told that terms and conditions state that free pass applies only to people living in the same postcode as the gym which is NOT in the terms and conditions. This is why I hate chain gyms- they’re only interested in the numbers and your honesty and friendliness doesn’t matter- you are just another £ in the pocket. Avoid

Having been a member for 12 years now, predominantly at Waterloo I have to say it's been one of the best gyms I have trained in during an adult lifetime of gym use. Great kit and a very professional management style from Waterloo manager, Daniel and his team.
Bit saddened to see the takeover from PureGyms. I would hope they will leave a successful business and excellent customer service model well alone......but we shall see.

Many thanks, Sarah
