Had my very first resin course and wandered around studio, pretty amazed with small studios available for artists. I did not drive but walk from nearest station and there is no cafes around, so make sure you eat something or bring something before you come :)

It's the sheer size of this collection of artists' studios that impresses. Certainly not the location just beyond a near derelict pub and grotty industrial gunge near an 'S' bend in the Garrett Lane between Wandsworth and Tooting. I attend the bi-annual Open Studios where, after a preview on small boards of some of the artists' works in a reception area, one can walk directly into each of the component buildings, the most modern on four floors with a lift, the older a giant shed accessed initially up external steps housing fifty or more studios on each of its three floors. This shabby collection of buildings, just behind the Wimbledon Dog Track hides a gem of fascination filled to the brim with working artists of all kinds. The space in a converted office block and a factory space that has been subdivided into scores of studios is rented out to a wide variety of people working in a variety of artistic media—painters, sculptors, portraitists, textile artists, illustrators and cartoonists rub shoulders in a dazzling display of multicoloured variety. Twice a year the Studio opens its doors for a general exhibition, when you can walk around, browse, talk with the artists and buy works of art to grace your wall, garden or living rooms. The place is just brimming with talent and ideas. Watch out on the website for the next show, you won't be disappointed. Leave a good 3 hours to walk around.…
