The airport train station is right next to the terminal and you can buy tickets in the arrival area before heading upstairs to the station entrance and back down the escalator or elevator back to the tracks. There are multiple trains and tracks here, but fortunately, they have helpful staffers to guide you the right way. The train speeds you to London in less than a half hour. They leave fairly frequently and are clean, quiet and comfy. There are luggage racks, if you prefer that for your bags.

The H-Express drops you at Paddington Station, where there are tube lines to central London right there in the arrival hall. We used Google Maps with the transit option selected to sort out which lines and trains we needed to get to our hotel. Easy-peesey. You can grab a bite in the station at a few spots, as well.

We found that finding our way back to the train when heading back to the airport a little confusing. A cab dropped us off and we took an elevator down to the ground floor. Once there, we swiped our tickets, only to find that we'd been welcomed onto a platform for another local train that would've taken a lot longer. But again, there are staffers to help you correct mistakes. Cleverly, they have a line on the ground with little pictures of planes and "Heathrow Express" that you can simply follow, which leads you right to the correct platform. It's probably easy for locals to spot tourists, by seeing who's got their eyes on the ground the whole time, following that lifeline, but it's a really useful aid.

The ticket's not exactly cheap ($25 pounds one-way pp), but very quick and far less money than a cab would be, I'm sure. And overall, it's pretty easy to negotiate the journey, especially with all those helpful transit staffers everywhere. Paddington station connections via the Tube are also easy to figure out on your phone and through signage in the terminal. The tube station there was modern and clean, as are the trains. They've definitely updated everything since the last time I was in London a decade or more ago. You can simply swipe you credit card getting on and off the Tube trains (and once only for London buses), which we found pretty easy and convenient.

Honestly, if it's in your budget, if you have a lot of heavy baggage, and/or if your destination is a long walk from the nearest tube station, I recommend a cab for ease of use. However, for my needs - one bag and and a destination just across the street from a tube station - this suited my needs perfectly. Signage at Heathrow is amazing compared to other airports I've been to, so the Heathrow Express was easy to find. The ride was fairly comfortable and fairly fast. Once I made it to Paddington though, it was a bit of a hike to pick up the Circle line, but that line dropped me just across the street from my destination so my travel was easy enough. I bought a ticket in advance, and the app is easy to use. Recommend this for those traveling into the city who don't require the comfort and ease of traveling by car.

Probably the fastest and easiest way to get to Heathrow from Paddington. Costs 20 pound single or 32 return (open for 1 month)

Took around 15 minutes. Well signposted from Heathrow

Services were cancelled without explanation with no indication when/if services would resume that day.

Advice from staff on the ground was to instead use the Elizabeth Line and that a full refund would be issued without a problem.

We had purchased early bird tickets (price was comparable to Elizabeth Line at the time), and when I applied for a refund, I was asked a series of questions to validate my claim via email. The responses provided were deemed satisfactory and a refund was processed. However when the money landed in my account, I realised it was only 50% of the total amount owing.

When I queried this with Heathrow Express, they claimed I was only entitled to a 50% refund as per the terms and conditions. Except that the terms and conditions they attempted to cite did not apply to me (changes came into effect for transactions after Sept 2204, I had purchased tickets in July 2024).

The person who processed the refund did not bother checking the purchase date, nor did they tell me it would only be a 50% refund. So because a refund had already been issued, Heathrow Express were unable to issue a second refund via the original payment method. So I had to contact my bank for international transfer details, provide other personal information I was reluctant to share over email.

After two months of back and forth, numerous follow ups and having to deal with different “customer service” staff at Heathrow Express, I finally received a second refund.

Was the £15 owing worth my time? No. Was it worth pursuing on principle? You bet. I’ve since told countless friends, family and colleagues travelling to London about this experience – enjoy the revenue loss Heathrow Express, your attempt at service was pathetic.

I understand transport operations is a complex beast. The train disruption wasn’t the disappointment, it was how badly Heathrow Express handled their mistakes.

But in good news, the Elizabeth Line is perfectly fine, in fact it’s actually great.

I am writing to express my deep frustration with the misleading advertising of the Heathrow Express service. Your claim that the journey from Paddington to Heathrow takes 15 minutes is utterly deceptive.

What your advertisements conveniently fail to mention is that the train does not stop at Terminal 4. Passengers bound for Terminal 4 are forced to disembark at Terminal 1, 2, 3 and endure the inconvenience of dragging their luggage to another platform to board the Elizabeth Line.

This is not a seamless 15-minute journey, as you suggest. Instead, passengers are subjected to extended waits of anywhere between 17, 29 minutes or longer for the connecting train to Terminal 4. This is an infuriating waste of time and makes a mockery of the "express" service you claim to provide.

Your misleading advertising is unacceptable, and I demand you address this issue immediately. Provide accurate information about your service, or risk further alienating your customers.

Not humans. We were a family with 2 babies and they treat us with a bad way because we did wrong with the trains. They just want to take your money. They come and try to persuade you to take the train telling you that you pay less that it is not true.

Great value if it works. We bought a return ticket and got into the city fine but when we were leaving the train was cancelled and it took us 2-3 hours to get to the airport (as we had luggage and were restricted by the lines we could use as many don't have escalators etc).
We were lucky we were going to a hotel for the night before an early flight because we would have missed the flight if we were headed there.
This was a planned train issue but we weren't told about it when we bought the return fair at the airport on arrival. The train attendant who turned us away also told us we would be refunded. However after multiple emails, over a year, we never heard back or received my refund. Pretty unprofessional and poor service.

I am very disappointed with this rigid regulation. No flexibility, no accommodation – not even at an extra cost. I will no longer use the Heathrow Express and will not recommend it.

I’m very disappointed with this rigid policy. No flexibility, no goodwill gesture—even for a fee. I was willing to pay more to change the date. I won’t use Heathrow Express again or recommend it.

The two of us arrived in London in September 2022, tired from our 24-hour trip from California. After 45 minutes wading through customs, it was a relief to find “We Know” at a bright blue booth in the Arrivals hall in Terminal 2. Their sign carried an “I” in a circle followed by WeKnow, as though they were a public service information booth. After a ton of research on how to get an Uber to Balham in London (SW17) from LHR, it was even more reassuring to see their gray electric signage that flashed “Uber Here” with an arrow pointing to their booth. What serendipity! They breezily told us they could get a car with no more cost than Uber, and it was so convenient! The 102 pounds they charged us was expensive, but what did we know? I only learned later this was well above the going rate. They also directed us to a nearby ATM machine to get some cash, where the fees cost about 40% of the withdrawal. Fortunately, I withdrew only a small sum, knowing that anything in an airport is overcharged. Then, we waited 45 minutes standing behind the booth until a driver finally found us for the 45-minute trip to our destination. The driver was friendly enough and we did get where we wanted to go. Unless you are comfortable at feeling scammed by the “Uber Here” routine and paying double the going rate and adding an unnecessary 45 minute wait for a ride, I would recommend avoiding “We Know” like the plague.

Exorbitantly overpriced which I can just about stomach but they close the ticket barriers early to prevent access to the platform despite boarding still taking place. Considering that you pay the extortionate price in return for speed, the fact that you have to wait for the next service is ridiculous. Travel by the Elizabeth Line for a fraction of the cost and essentially the same journey time.
