The area
Address
Neighborhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

    The old and the new!
This station was inaugurated in 1874. It replaced the Bishop Gate Station as the terminus of the great Eastern Railway. It was designed by engineers Edward Wilson. Before this station was built a mental hospital used to exist here. This station suffered heavy bombing during the two world wars. It was totally revamped in the 1970s but efforts were made to maintain its historical feel. Four Victorian clock towers can be seen outside the station. A huge concourse of shops, offices and eateries was added. A grand steel and glass walkway was built. You can see several interesting statues in this station.

    Fantastic station!
It’s not often that I go to a train station and feel like I need to write a review for it!!!!!!!!!But this train station was so fantastic I felt like I needed to review it,firstly I thought it was going to be like all underground stations. But this one really stands out on the map,it is served by overground, tfl rail(cross rail,Elizabeth line),metropolitan, circle, central and Hammersmith and city train lines with national rail as well going to Essex.I love this station so much as it was clean and massive and there are plenty of restaurants and takeaways to have a bite before or after a train ride. There are giant chains including Starbucks,McDonald’s and Leon but also some independents too including an Italian restaurant called Eataly which is probably the biggest restaurant I’ve ever seen.It serves up breakfast, lunch and Dinner.I love the lights in there as well. Also there was a WH Smith’s,M&S and a gym as well!!!!!!!Also they have a whole floor just for the toilets as well which came in very handy when entering and exiting the station, the toilets were also very clean as well.I love this station so much

    Bog standard station
Station itself is ok, need to make sure escalators are working all the time as we were there 3 days in a row and one was not working. Board updates as to platform required are extremely slow so this again needs improving. Decent amount of places to get food prior to setting off.

Ordinary big station! Watch out for the homeless people.
An ordinary big London station with many eateries and a few shops. Big. Located on two levels. Places to sit as well if you are waiting for a train. Connects to Stansted Airport and a number of train lines. Easy connection to the West End. The new Elizabeth Line also stops here so easy to get to Heathrow too. Busy station especially at peak times. The station can feel very cold during the winter months and when it heavily rains, even though the station is sheltered, it can drizzle through and sometimes there are floods! Not the cleanest station. Main issue is the homeless people. Watch out especially at quiet times as they have been known to pickpocket. The famous Spitalfields Market is a short walk away.

Train to Chingford - Huge Thanks to Malik -
Huge thanks to staff member, Malik, yesterday (Thursday 7th September). I had a mobility issue and could not get to the train with stairs and escalator so the cabbie was able to get me through so I could be me with assistance. Malik met me immediately we arrived. So kind and friendly, he carried my bags onto the train. He then called ahead and I was met off the train at Chingford by an equally lovely member of staff. Great help and service, just wanted to say a big thanks!

Most the staff are this station are so rude! Don’t know who they think they are! I had purchased my ticket online yesterday which I have been doing all week and no staff have had a problem with me showing them proof of purchase of the ticket and allowing me through the gates to go print my ticket off. This morning I showed my reference code to the man at the gate and his colleague had interrupted ‘show me that thing’ so I turnt to show her and she snatched my phone from my hands and told me I can’t do it like this that I need to go get my ticket printed from her other colleague. So I was then escorted round the back of the gates where the women printed my ticket

The train station part you could not fault but the tube station is another matter.
We left the train to get the tube and continue what was already a long journey.
Having read before that you could pay by contactless card we decided to do that for our trip.
I went first and had no problems but the rest of the party their cards were not accepted. I also read previously that you could use the same contactless card for multiple people on the same journey but the only briefly visible station attendant said we could not.
So I was stuck on one side of the gate and could not help the others.
There was no one around to help them at the ticket machines either. All the attendants seemed to be on my side of the gate just ignoring everyone, especially those who just forced their way through the gates.
Eventually my friends got help from another tourist but ended up buying oyster cards with £20 on each. We only had two tube journeys for the whole trip so that was an expense we could have done without.
With the amount of tourists and business travellers going through the station you would think they would be on the ball and ready to help those who are unfamiliar with tube travel instead of hiding in a corner like a bunch of little girls.

Simply put, this is an average station. There’s nothing truly BAD about it, but there are many things the city (or whoever owns this facility) can do to improve it. Crowds were expected due to the peak travel season, but having to figure out the elevators (and the right elevators to access the street rather than a train platform) was difficult. And finding the location of the right train services like the Stansted Express was difficult. Even finding the Starbucks was difficult.

It’s not just my unfamiliarity with a place that causes this—because I’ve seen and have proof of other stations with excellent signage all around. Liverpool Street can do better. I hope that if I return here again, I can rate it higher than simply average.

Great station, great connection to the Stansted Express train but also the National Express bus which is outside the front of the NatWest Bishopsgate Conference Centre.

I got the Oyster Card here. If you make more than one, check that they are all out.

If they haven't all come out, remember which machine it was, take the receipt and go to the guys who are near the subway turnstiles.

It happened to me that I paid for 2 but it came out 1 Oyster Card. The staff was very kind! From his expression when I told him about what had happened, it was clear that it is something that happens often.

Terrible staff. More interest in churning you out than actually even listening to what you asked for. No smiles, no pleasantry’s. The just want you to give them your money and leave quickly! Worst customer service, I wouldn’t even call it that to be honest! Rude rude rude!!!
I wanted to order food for myself and my partner as we had a long day, had to repeat my order four times and they still got it wrong! Bizarre to me as I was only ordering Katsu curry and chicken curry, two of their staples!! Then at the till when asking for two sets of cutlery I was just blatantly ignored. Why would you serve two meals and one set of cutlery. Training definitely needed here!!

Travelling on the underground with my infant, I had tried to make sure there were lifts for the buggy and suitcase. When I arrived at Liverpool st the lift was broken and I feel it hasn't worked in a while. However, in the short 5 minutes I was there, 2 members of staff were really helpful. One helped me with my luggage down the stairs and the other showed me to my platform and explained the best route for me. Really helpful and made my trip much less stressful.

Staff are so rude… my daughter has just started working in London ( 1st job) They have held her up so she misses her train. Then Sent her to the wrong platform for the next train which she then missed. Shame on them… let’s hope if their 17 year old needed help to get home there are people out there that would be willing to help more than they do.

I now have a 17 year old crying at Liverpool Street station at 20.55 trying to get home.

Arrived here by tube to catch the overground to WHL later in the day. It's a big, modernised station with plenty of shops of food outlets.

We were doing a pre match mini pub crawl and gave the onsite Hamilton Hall 'Spoons' pub a wide berth due to the recent negative reviews here on TA.

Took some finding but there are a couple of good places to eat at the back of the station, in Broadgate Circle; The Botanist and Comptoir Libonais.

Require staff assistance later, he was helpful but could've recommended the earlier train to Northumberland Park that we took using our own nous.
