Neighborhood: City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.

A good place to view London from above - if you visit at the right time ( weather) you will get a clear view of The Tower of London, Tower Bridge and along the river to the London Eye, Houses of Parliament. Tickets for viewing (free) can be booked online. Security measures in place ie airport style and then a lift to the top. Depending on the time of day/ year this could be quite busy and crowded.
If you want to visit the bar or restaurants reservations will also be required. The table service was a bit slow at the bar area to start off with, but then improved. Not much in the way of bar food - and also quite expensive olives £5, cheese platter near £30 Cocktails London prices around £13+ A good atmosphere though, with music playing and nice for a special occasion with the city sparkling in the background.
Smart casual dress code - plenty of people in Jeans and trainers....can get cold up there in the winter and the outside area wasn't open on our visit.

We visited the Sky Garden on the 6th of September as a family of 3. We booked our free tickets online which is recommended to avoid dissapointment.

When we arrived we queued in the pre-booked ticket queue, then at the entrance we were greeted by Eduardo who kindly informed us we had actually had tickets booked for the next day, at this point he could of easilly turned us away and we would of had to make the journey again a day later but this wasn't the case here.

Eduardo was wonderful and extremely helpful in helping us re-book our tickets for entry there and then, explaining and showing everything that needed to be done which took a matter of minutes with his help. Thank You Eduardo!

We as a family would highly recommend the Sky Garden as a free attraction really worth visiting in London, when you reach the top your greeted with beautiful views across the city skyline (no matter the weather) A great place to spend a morning and grab a coffee!

I visited this amazing venue with my family but unfortunately didn't have the free access tickets. Upon arrival we were greeted by your friendly staff who informed us to join a small line of non ticket visitors. We were then able to enter within approx 15 mins after entering our details on a tablet. This wasn't my first visit but it was for my Mum and daughter. Upon reaching floor 35 we decided to order drinks at the bar and watch the sunset as it was happening. We were served by the most helpful, friendly and funny member of staff called Miguel from Lisbon. This person is the reason for my review. He was chatty and made us feel special by making up a 'mocktail' which he created on the spot. Thank you Miguel for making us welcome and Skygarden once again for being one of the best 'free' places in London. I highly recommend you go if you are reading this review.

I was told to leave the building twice as I had my son who was an underage child (7 year old) according to the security man. He said after 6 pm children are not allowed to be on the venue as they served alcohol. I bought my ticket like everyone else online and one was for 5:45 pm. If kids are not allowed after 6 pm then don’t allow tickets to be sold to parents of underage child for after 6pm. It was disgusting and so stressful for me to be told not once but twice, even when I went upstairs to get a better view even though I told the man that I only got here and spent most of the time lining up for soft drinks for me and my son. I complained and spoke to the manager Clayton King who spoke to me for a long while and told me the tickets were from a separate company, timings etc and he said. Will you be returning and I told him yes for an earlier slot this time at 3pm and he said that’s great. I will make sure you get dinner and drinks on me. Just come and ask for me and I can make this happen for you. So I did ask twice if he meant dinner or something else and he said yes. Once I arrived about 2:40 pm. I was told he is on his way and to wait. A few minutes later I was told. He has to go to a meeting and he can’t come and meet me and he didn’t mean dinner just sandwiches and drinks. I was APPALLED as me and son didn’t eat as we expected dinner! And this was extremely upsetting as I can buy anything I wanted to eat cheap or expensive but I was very sad that Clayton King mislead me and allowed his assistants to deal with me instead of him, in person especially as he promised he would be there to greet me or meet me once I arrived. Why say ‘dinner’ when you meant ‘sandwiches’? That is a big difference and we talked for a while regarding different dirty needs and the fact that he doesn’t drink alcohol like myself. I thought he was being nice at the time but it seems it was just to keep me happy for the time being and forget the complain I made regarding his security guards behaviour towards me and my son. I travelled very far to get to London and when I visit again. I will not be coming to Sky Gardens ever again for a visit or recommend it due to my horrible experiences. Please contact me so I can know why Clayton King so-called manager did not keep his word and essentially lied to me. Why couldn’t he just say ‘sandwiches’ instead of ‘dinner’ and embarrassing me and humiliating me and standing me up in his venue. Businesses don’t last forever and it seems good manners or courtesy are not practised or encouraged in Sky Garden.

Visited the sky garden on a weekday afternoon at around 5pm. It was very crowded. Entry is free but to guarantee entry you need to pre-book the free tickets up to 3 weeks in advance. You pass through airport-style security and an ID check before taking the elevator up to the observatory level. The view of London was nice but because it is completely enclosed, it is hard to take photos (glare from windows). There were too many people so it is hard to find a spot to sit and enjoy the views. Unless you are planning to stay for a long time and grab a drink, you would only need 15 minutes to see everything. There was no line up to go up to the observatory but there was a queue to take the elevator down.

Located by the Monument, in a side street, off Fenchurch St, is this not to be missed, and indeed, cannot be missed attraction. Seen from miles around, this structure is nicknamed, the "Walkie Talkie" due to the shape resemblance of a much loved retro toy.
Entry tickets are free for the garden view only, brasserie, or restaurant but must be ordered not more than 3 weeks before the allocated slot. Arrive early as bag searches slow the access to the only 2 lifts available for rides up to the roof.
No queueing inside so on a rainy day prepare to get wet but the view is worth the wait. There is supposed to be a one way system for viewing, up the right (East) stairs with your back to the river, across the bar area at the top and down the (West) stairs facing the river. The open area is on the café level and allows brilliant scenes of the whole river area and across to the Shard tower. It can get windy. Get a tight grip of that camera. There are seating areas at the café, either side of the garden areas and at the top opposite the bar.
Visits are limited to 1 hr but I fail to see how that is enforced. Have a great time.

Total disappointment .
I was there at Christmas with friends for a meal , bars were very busy so didn’t stop for a drink just went straight for dinner , jump forward to May my husband and I were in London for our wedding anniversary , thought I would take him for dinner disaster didn’t wait long enough to eat
Checked in got the lift , 1st bar not many people in it but every table resurveyed , went up to 2nd bar same there and bar was shut place look awful empty bottles and glasses every were and 3 bar staff behind closed bar .
Decided it wasn’t for us got the lift down and spoke to girl on the desk asked her to inform Darwin we wouldn’t be coming for dinner , she said no point it’s £25 per person for a no show , we did show and were polite enough to ask her to inform the restaurant that we weren’t coming totally unhelpful staff

Wifes 60th birthday celebration and was really looking forward to a special experience. How could we be so disappointed. Arrived at 6pm for a table booked at 7pm just in time for them to stop access to the viewing balcony, didn't see this restriction in the blurb. Walked round the 'garden' that is just greenery and no colourful plants!. Loud heavy beat music being blasted out. Areas very dark and heard a number of smashed glasses whilst there which were attributable to this. When it was time to take our table we were shoen to a very low casual table that was not suitable for eating food at. Asked to be moved and eventually ordered 2 beef bourguignon. Long wait for food which resulted in the staff offering 2 cups of tap water as compensation for the wait! The small amount of food arrived in bowls and we were given a knife and fork to eat it with! We were so hungry by this point and with so little food for the cost every bit was precious but a challange to eat with a fork!!. I got the feeling they are not actually expecting anyone to eat in the bars as they were not set up for it. The one redeeming factor were the views so in my opinion set aside 20 minutes max to walk around take your photos and then leave this nightclub in the sky and visit the many better restaurants at ground level.

Booked in advance for the Sky Garden bar which was probably a wise decision as the place was packed snd it also guaranteed us a seat (minimum spend of £25 per person)
Drinks menu is excellent and, for London, reasonably priced. Whilst the food menu wasn’t as good (there are 2 restaurants if you want more choice) we ordered the butter chicken curry with rice and it was delicious. Couldn’t finish it all as the portion was huge.
The Sky Garden itself is beautiful and the view over the city of London is immense. Tower Bridge, St Paul’s and the Shard are just 3 of the landmarks that can be seen and as our booking was in the evening, the city was beautifully lit.
I presume visitors are only allowed to go out on the balcony during the day and whilst I understand why one not be able to in the evening, it would have been a lovely bonus.
All the more reason to visit again during daylight.

Brilliant night was had by all 😊

We went there for cocktails in the early evening after pre booking a time slot. When we arrived at the time we were advised to,we were made to wait another 30mins before going in. Once we got thru the strict (airport security) the experience was good. The views were amazing, staff very accommodating . Good selection of drinks and nibbles at prices you would expect to see at such a venue.
