This is a brilliant London walk (and I've seen most of London!). Tales of Plague is historically accurate and appropriately entertaining, with the timely appearance of characters from the Great Plague and Black Death. It’s ideal for Londoners (us) and visitors and tourists (our friends); all of us enjoyed the guide’s presentation of this chilling period of British history. It’s pretty thrilling in parts with a few surprises, too. The final stop is quite simply breathtaking... Kids enjoyed it as much as the adults - lots of fun. We’ll see you again when our next batch of visitors arrive in London. Thanks guys @ TOP!

My friend booked this walking tour for us and what a great and informative 2 hours we had. It was funny, interesting, and took us to an area I wouldn't have visited if I was just visiting the main attractions. Thanks to Jonathan and Marianne and the rat for a great tour.

We went on the Tales of Plague walk as a family group consisting of teenagers, parents and grand parents and all absolutely loved it. I won't give anything away on here as there are some little surprises along the way but I thoroughly recommend this walking tour around the Tower Hill/London Bridge area. We learned lots of facts about the plague and walked through parts of London we had never walked through before. Fascinating and fun - a brilliant way to spend an afternoon. Highly recommended.

I took 20 AP World History students (15 & 16 years-old) to London and Paris in April 2015. I added the tour to our itinerary because it seemed like a unique experience different from the traditional museums and tours we were doing. It didn't disappoint.
Granted my kids were exhausted from walking 8 miles already that day, but Jonathan and Marianne were delightful and kept the kids' attention. While my students had a working knowledge of the plagues that hit London, they found this tour very informative and entertaining. It did lash rain on us about halfway through the tour, but Marianne was able to find us cover during her well-delivered talks. It added to the ambiance and made a great story. She also stopped at a couple places that allowed to sit down. We did a lot of walking on this trip and this attention to detail was extremely appreciated.
Jonathan was fabulous. My kids loved his various personas and his commitment to his roles was hysterical. They nearly jumped out of their shoes when the "plague doctor" showed up. It's one thing to describe the attire of a plague doctor and it's entirely a different experience to see it first hand, especially when he just appears along the way.
I highly recommend this for students and adults alike. You don't need a foundation in the content to understand their explanations and, if you do, you will still walk away having learned new things in a fun and engaging way.

I went on the Tales of Plague walking tour last weekend with my daughter and we really enjoyed it. Marianne who led the majority of the tour, and her sidekick, Alfred, who came to us direct from the 13th century, really knew their stuff and had obviously researched the subject well.
On the tour you also get to see some of London's landmark buildings at close quarters too, a bonus. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Our only suggestion which we though would improve the tour would have been for Maiane also to be inn costume, maybe 17th century, but this is a minor point.

We went as a group from work - we had some visitors from The Gambia & we wanted to do something different with them (instead of spending the evening in the pub) & we are all so pleased that we went on this walk. There were 11 of us altogether & every one of us had a really good time. Marianne & Jonathan are enthusiastic, informed & engaging hosts who really bring to life the stories they tell & the characters they portray.
I have been on other walks in London, but this is by far & away the very best one & I have absolutely no qualms about recommending it, both to Londoners & visitors in equal measure.

This tour was a real hit for some friends meeting up in London. This is factual history brought to life by the excellent narrative and characters that you meet. You walk the streets where everything happened past wonderful London structures (gates) and historic buildings. Really great fun and highly recommended.

This was way more than just the 'average' London walking tour I was expecting. There was loads of information from the friendly guides, but with fun and surprises along the way - I had a massive smile on my face the whole way (a big surprise considering the topic). Highly recommended!

Went with a group of friends on a Thursday evening. The tour was informative and fun with an excellent double act presenting the details, one in a variety of entertaining and sometimes downright unnerving outfits. From the plague doctor to Pepys. Highly recommended!

Fantastic afternoon spent with Jonathon and Marianne finding out all about 'The Horror'. Entertaining and informative, would definitely recommend this trip to others. The surprise characters along the way were a fabulous touch. 10/10 !

It takes place on Saturdays at 14:00, until the end of November. Tickets are GBP10, which is very competitive compared to other walks. It starts just outside Tower Hill station, and ends close to Monument station. Enjoy!
