This is the story of the Blues forming in Tennessee. Beverley Knight and Killian Donnelly are both brilliant actors and singers. Wonderful music and dancing. A moving story and thoroughly enjoyable. Highly recommended.

I'm not one for musicals, in fact I usually avoid them, but tickets came our way so I went. Oh, my goodness am I glad I did. Memphis is superb. I was taken along with the music, the story, the whole show rocked my soul.
The lead ladies voice was amazing, I had no idea that she was an understudy (I assumed she was BK, that's how clueless I am!) I tried to find out her name on google but could not. I hope she gets to perform many more shows.
This show is a must. I highly recommend it.

Was it just me, or was the ending missing from this musical? Structurally, I felt like they had forgotten most of the last "Act" and raced instead to the final song sequence.

The Shaftsbury Theatre is not designed for anyone who is tall (I’m 5’ 10 ½”). No legroom whatsoever, so be prepared ... And despite the cold winter temperature outside, the theatre was way too hot.

Great singing and dancing throughout, and the hard-working cast really put their heart into it, but the show really didn’t deserve a standing ovation.

I have seen this show four times now and each time is just as good as the last. I saw it originally last year not long after it first opened. I hadn't heard of it prior to this and the tickets had been bought as a birthday treat. I didn't know what to expect but I was truly amazed. A lot of shows can take a while to gain momentum but not Memphis - the pure energy and performance from the very first song is astounding, and just gets better all the way through. All the characters are believable and all talented in their own way. Beverly Knight is on fantastic form and her vocal range is breathtaking. The first three times seeing this show had Cillian Donnely playing the male lead. His vocals and acting were flawless. He has since been replaced by Matt Cardle of X Factor fame. I was sceptical about this as the previous male lead was such a strong performer and would be a hard act to follow. However, I was pleasantly surprised as his vocals were great and the comedic way he played the character of Huey was really natural and actually really good. All the songs in the show are really catchy and performed impeccably and the more serious songs such as 'Memphis Lives in Me' are quite emotional. I believe that Beverly Knight will only be in the show until October as she is moving to Cats, so would definitely recommend seeing the show whilst she is still in it. A great memorable show with fantastic songs and choreography. I hope to see it again soon.

I booked through lastminute.com for our 9th wedding anniversary treat, £62.50 each including a great 2 course meal at Cabana just nearby. Tremendous value for a nice Brazilian meal, then a fantastic show with NO flatspots from scene. Totally engaging. The whole cast was impressive, lead strongly by Beverley Knight and Killian Donnelly. My wife and I are fans of Beverly Knight, and couldn't believe we were just 5 rows back, centre and hearing how beautiful her voice really is live. Accents and acting all spot on. We left the show buzzing. A great night.

Okay so I am somewhat biased as before going knew that the music was written by David Bryan Bon Jovi who happen to be my favourite band.Setting this aside the show is thought provoking and well acted in its entirety.
The story is that of a white guy (Killian Donnelly) who's love of music leads him to fall for the voice and beauty of black Felicia (Beverley Knight). It is set in the days when it severely frowned upon for different races to mix and this is a triumph for love having no barriers. The cast are fantastic Beverley Knight has phenomenal voice and is a very talented actress too. Killian Donnelly who I had seen as the lead in The commitments recently was excellent too. The songs will play in your head for a long time to come promise. The day was topped off for me when as getting ready to leave David Bryan came in to catch the last song and I caught up with him in the foyer, he stopped for a chat and we had out photograph taken together too!! I was so excited by meeting one of my hero's and had to have a stiff drink to calm down afterwards. We go to the theatre a lot and this show definitely deserves all the Tony awards it has won!!

Took my husband to see Memphis as he's never been to a musical before but he likes Beverley Knight so hoped he'd enjoy it. He wasn't disappointed, neither was I. We had good seats in Row T and could see the whole stage area, would highly recommend aisle seats if you or partner are tall.
The vocals of all performers were great, we have always liked Beverley Knight but we were truly astounded with how fantastic she is live!! We really enjoyed all of the songs but felt the storyline a little weak. Overall though, thumbs up and I would recommend this show to others.
