- janecgrahamChester, United Kingdom2 contributionsI actually visited the online shop and found the service to be excellent. I telephoned the number given to check up on something and a human being answered the telephone! It was in fact the warehouse in Kent, which was fine and the gentleman very friendly and helpful. Ordering online was easy and delivery came within two days - items beautifully wrapped and packaged. I am absolutely delighted and my faith in the some of the commercial world has been restored. Well done, Tintin shop and thank you.Visited November 2024Traveled soloWritten November 28, 2024
- therichastillStevenage, United Kingdom3,672 contributionsIf you are a fan of the stories written by Herge about Tintin and his pals then you will want to visit the store in the Covent Garden area of London. It's not a very big shop but they have plenty of Tintin related gifts that you can buy of various different price points. They do not accept cash but the staff were friendly and helpful.Visited May 2024Traveled soloWritten May 19, 2024
- RugbynuggetNottingham, United Kingdom406 contributionsSituated literally a minutes walk from Covent Garden underground this small but well stocked shop is everything you need. Very friendly staff who are eager to help. If its not on display they can probably get it. Prices are about on par with what you'd pay in the Tintin shops in Brussels. Just need to break it gently to my partner on how much I spent. Highly recommendedVisited June 2024Traveled soloWritten June 12, 2024

We went to the Tintin shop to exchange two t-shirts that were ordered online and unfortunately did not fit, this was all explained and agreed by email with the manager of the shop beforehand. However, because the tshirts were no longer in their plastic wrapping (they still had their tags and were in perfect condition, having only been tried on once) she refused to exchange them for their original value (24 pounds each) arguing she would have to sell them on sale. I am not sure how I was supposed to try them on without removing the wrapping... I got a bit annoyed by this argument and the way she was talking to us and tried to defend my rights as a customer but the manager accused me of being aggressive (I did not shout and was not being rude) and said she would only be able to sell them for 10 pounds. After I gave up trying to defend myself as I could see she wasn't prepared to listen, she suddenly changed her mind and said she could sell them for ÂŁ17.95 (it seems the more you defend yourself, the more money she takes from you). In the end we lost 6 pounds for absolutely no valid reason and had to face a very rude and unprofessional manager who does not seem to care one bit about her customers. This is a great shop but I really didn't appreciate her tone of voice and how she treated us so I will not go back.

I visited this shop with a friend today (1st October). I have never ever encountered such rudeness and appalling behaviour from a shop assistant. As a Tin Tin fan of long standing, I was keen to buy a T shirt. The woman in question was clearly not happy to assist me. The first problem was the size of the T shirt. XL was far too large but I was told there was no L size available in the colour I wanted. Could I try one on? No not possible - '"This is not a clothing store," she said. Also no mirror, but I could hold one on against the shirt I was wearing. I took off my coat. She saw the T shirt I was wearing - a Tin Tin one and my pride and joy. She instantly accused me of wearing a counterfeit one. This was news to me. I was appalled at her accusation and the way she said it. I had bought a number of Tin Tin T shirts in Hong Kong several years ago. They had started to show their age and I wanted to replace them. It had never crossed my mind that they might be counterfeit. Her accusation threw me and I felt very angry at her implied suggestion that I was some sort of criminal. She proceeded to repeatedly thrust her hand in my face with open fingers during her subsequent tirade. Among many things she accused me of "disrespecting the author by wearing the shirt." As a great fan of Tin Tin this was particularly offensive too me. I voiced my objection in the strongest terms and asked her whether she understood what her role was as a shop assistant: that is to serve customers and not offend them. She ended up refusing to sell me anything and she insisted I leave the shop.

Being a Tintin fan, I searched high and low online for this place and went there with a friend. The manager saw us walk in and ignored us completely. However, we browsed through, saw the prices and asked if there were any deals on combination purchases. The manager very rudely asked us to leave the shop if we weren't willing to buy the available items on display prices. We were very disappointed and left the shop. Would not go again.

It's not even relevant how good the shop itself is. Although it used to stock a much wider selection of books, including collector's editions, it now favours T shirts and china. It's very small and has a reasonable collection of Tintin books and merchandise. There are far better shops around Europe for Tintin. However, the fact is that I have never encountered such rudeness from a shop assistant, with absolutely no cause whatsoever. When I think of the countless charming and helpful staff in so many similar shops, the hostile and thoroughly unpleasant woman that runs this shop was so rude that I will not go again, with or without children. Absolutely shocking.

As a Tintin fanatic, I was so excited when I saw the shop. However, the two sales staff inside were very cold, just focused on their own chatting. When I wanted to buy a figure and said "excuse me", the old lady seemed to be annoyed coz I interrupted their chatting and growled "what!!!"... That scarred me... no communication with customers, no smile. Jesus Christ you work in a Tintin shop. It's a culture. You guys shamed my childhood hero brand... the staff in supermarkets are even much better than you...

I ordered an expensive gift from these people for a Christmas present and asked these people to ensure it was in plain packaging to maintain the surprise.
They didn't bother responding to my email and I then received a call from the recipient of the gift asking what was in the "TinTin box".
Upon contacting them again to express my disappointment they then told me it was "not our concern or fault"
Crap customer service. Avoid.

The Tintin shop is a must for fans of the comic book. If you can't get to the Tintin stores in Belgium, then this is possibly the next best thing. Everything related to Tintin, books, models, postcard, t-shirts are all available here.
Having been to the Tintin stores in Belgium and Singapore, this particular store is very small in comparison. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of Tintin memorabilia here, but I've been to comic stores in Belgium with bigger Tintin collections. Prices are also pretty high, even considering it's a specialist store and in covent gardens.
