A little piece of heaven on Earth - The Reach Climbing Wall, provides an escape from my mundane routine of life...it’s a place that breathes life back into me and feeds my soul, a perfect alternative, when rock is no where to be found!

The Staff are a team with a wealthy of information to share, always willing to provide guidance and are so welcoming that you cannot help, but start your climbing session with a smile...and with around 50 plus lead climbs, that are re-set often, there is always a new project to sink your teeth into!

I had enjoyed climbing here once or twice before, however upon visiting with my family was confronted by an extremely rude member of staff. From the offset she was extremely confrontational & made the experience extremely unenjoyable.

I had heard from multiple sources of encounters with a terribly aggressive lady who works there and I'm hoping she's the exception, not the rule, although none of the other staff members in earshot seemed to care about her approach to customers.

Two friends of mine (both ladies are extremely accomplished climbers) said they were told off in a very aggressive manner by a lady who worked there for practicing falling on lead, This is despite calmly telling her that their club offers a British Mountaineering Council discount and the BMC listing in their guidelines for best practice on lead training suggesting to practice falling on lead in a controlled environment - she was having none of it.

It's a great facility let down by poor staff training and manners. Such a shame as the lady upset my daughter so much with her aggressive manner that she's been put off climbing. She's 7 years old and had been climbing with me twice weekly for 6 months indoor and outdoor, and hasn't climbed for two weeks since.

It's unlikely I'll be returning which is a shame as the facilities are good.

First off, let's get this out of the way. I can't believe the reviews on here that are negative about the staff, the rules, officious blah blah. I travel around the UK using climbing walls as my job, and I can categorically say that this wall is one of the best with great staff (I'll include the café and the café staff as well - free bun and coffee next time!!!). Seriously, all walls have rules, and for a good reason as well. This one is no different. And every wall is different in one way or another, you just need to go with it. I was at the Oakwood Wall (Wokingham) two days before and what works for them doesn't for the Reach; you just deal with it. Okay, aside from that. The wall has lots of routes, and they are good for teaching, and advanced alike; walls that are dead easy to serious overhangs. There are more Auto-belays at this wall than many others. There is a great Bouldering area; in fact two areas (opinion alert - if bouldering is your thing). AND, it's not expensive... AND, parking isn't a problem either...
There really is no pleasing some people. Keeeeep up the good work people.

Three of my kids aged 10,5,3 had a day off school so we booked a private instructor for the four of us (including myself) and had a great time. My youngest was a bit nervous but at the end enjoyed the bouldering section (with no ropes). The other two loved it from the start. The space is brilliant with lots of different courses for all abilities and the instructor was great. There is a cafe too and free parking.

First came here a few years ago bringing my daughter to a birthday party. Since then I took lessons and now do lead rope as well as bouldering and top rope. The centre is a great place, very relaxed and welcoming for new climbers. Some things I have noted over the years (about 3 years now), the centre is continually improving by new/more lockers/ more climbing routes, new software making entry easier etc. The cafe, RosieLee, is great, good veggie choice, comfy worn chairs, and the fridge cakes are the main reason I now visit ;). Also free wi-fi, training room, etc, plenty of car parking in the complex of which the Reach is a part of. The staff are great, it just takes a bit of time to get to know them! There is a small but good shop onsite. Only thing I would say is some route setting is variable, some levels seem to have got harder over the years, rather than easier as I was hoping! A good variety of slabs and steep stuff. It is never over crowded either, I guess due to it's location, which is my only gripe, as it is a 40min drive/cycle (takes the same time- there are covered bike spaces right by the door) away through typical London traffic.

Very good, friendly, claiming centre full of a nice mix between ropes and boulding walls. The facilities on offer are very good. The atmosphere is hassle free and adds to a great enjoyable atmosphere. The instructors at the centre ll know there stuff and the fact its got people of all ages present shows how climbing really is for everyone no matter what stage of life there are at.

Never overly busy, friendly staff, good range of walls and bouldering areas all make for a decent half days activity and one thing i'm learning about climbers is how much they appreciate good cake which, along with decent coffee, the on site cafe provides.

I love the Reach.

The friendly staff, the helpful instructors, the array of routes and the ease with which people associate - it feels nothing like London!

The routes are well set and seem to be consistent. The layout is constantly changing but it feels homely and friendly - it’s a nice play to spend a whole day if you wanted!

I climb in a lot of places but the Reach is easily my favourite!
