Address
Neighborhood: Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.

A fantastic group activity

We have frequented this attraction and few times and will continue to do so as they regularly renew the games! The challenges are so well planned tone perfect for the time limit you have. If you're struggling, they will always give you a call to give you a hint which is great! You also get a detective photo at the end which is good fun!

Prohibition Pandemonium -
Jan 2016
This review refers to the 10-person "Prohibition Pandemonium".

This game either asks you to book as a team of 10, or will put you with people...I would certainly recommend going as a complete team as the game itself is certainly "pandemonium" - and I suspect not knowing each other could reduce enjoyment even further.

We have done a number of Escape Rooms in London and on the Continent and firstly in terms of puzzles "Prohibition" was a little linear, and a bit "lock" related.

A couple of puzzles could be solved by a "lucky guess", and one of them pretty much had the solution set right next to it - leaving little in terms of lateral thinking.

With all the trouble to set up the premise, theatrically there were also a number of "modern day" room props...and you certainly don't need a team of 10 - a team of four could probably have methodically worked round each puzzle and still got out with time to spare - which sort of made things a bit more of a let down.

Assuming you have no choice but a 10 - I can see that in an organised group of 10 you'd have pairs working on certain things, but this is where I would have a problem with people who don't know each other - it was hard enough for a team of friends to stay organised and have a chance to play with a range of things - as strangers, I don't know whether the dynamic (competitiveness, laziness, bossiness etc etc) would work for or even further against you. Perhaps a few more opportunities to search would at least have been something.

The gamesmastering was also a little off on this particular game - two hints were given to us - both of which we were already working on, and when we got out (15 minutes early) the gamesmaster asked "how did you do that?" which was a rather strange reaction - especially when the reply was the only one any escapee could give "Er...we put the code in..."

Having done their other room - The Heist - which was an improvement on the one before (with The Sherlock Holmes branding - where you didn't even need the right solution to get out), Prohibition was a bit of a disappointment.

Having said all that, if you've not played Escape Games before - the premise is fun, the "props box" is excellent for the "obligatory" photo afterwards, it's certainly a very "polished" venue - comfortable and clean, and you WILL find enjoyment in the game. It is arguably good (live escape games just are!) - it just falls short when you compare it with their own other room, a couple of the London games, and certainly the ones on the Continent - hence the grading.

Great mind excersise
Dec 2015 • Family
We went as a family after reading some good reviews. Staff were attending and welcoming. We did the Bank Heist (1 hour) and it was very challenging. Rooms are set up ok but are relatively small and very hot. We were sweating by the end of it. We manage to solve one of the puzzles but even with the correct number combination, the lock would not open. Needed staff intervention who came in , fix the problem but we lost few important minutes (which to be fair they gave us at the end as an extra). Really nice family afternoon out.

Fine if you're after the social aspect rather than the puzzle
Apr 2015
The set up of the area is great. A bit of a Victorian/Sherlock vibe going on, with space to chill before and after, and they'd thought about the practical side like coat and bag storage. A fun surprise afterwards too.

However, none of that care carried on into the room design. The room was very sparsely and cheaply furnished (bed, wardrobe, mirror, dressing table, jewellery box, noticeboard, that was everything). There weren't actually that many puzzles to speak of within the room, and the whole experience just felt cheap. The puzzles were quite linear and, because there wasn't that much to find or look in, at times you almost felt bored!

An amazing experience *****
Oct 2015 • Couples
It was really amusing, difficult enough to make you really try and with as much help as needed. We really enjoyed the Bank Heist and it is definitely an experience we will repeat. The atmosphere was perfect with all details to make it an exceptional night. Also, it is a big plus that bookings from 2 people are available (we were 2 of us only and most places don't offer slots for less than 3 people). 100% recommended

Escape rooms are always a fun activity, but we found this place poorly managed:

1. Our room had 3 setup issues that prevented us to fully enjoy the game.
For example one door should have been locked at the beginning but it wasn't.

2. People watching our game could not see properly what we had done and sometimes suggested irrelevant clues.

3. We felt a bit rushed through the all thing. Clues given were too many, too explicit and probably provided too early.

4. Inter-phone as a way of communication is annoying: it forces you to stop what you are doing to go and answer it. Also it won't work great with poor English speakers.

5. There was no greeting or interest from the managing team at the end and we left unnoticed.

Overall we were a bit disappointed in comparison with other experiences we had.

Having a fixed fee per person didn't sound correct as there is nothing that justifies it. Competitors charge a room fee that decrease the cost pp as the participants increase.

Also we didn't like the fact that our team pictures (if taken) were going to be used as part of the company marketing. This increased the feeling that this place is just a big money-maker.

Positive notes:
- Setting is well made
- Lounge is big and comfortable.

Not as good as the one in Bangkok
Oct 2015 • Friends
The one I visited in Bangkok was better; the staff were friendlier and you got a cup of tea when you arrived, the London branch seemed dark and dingy and less inviting. The game itself was very similar and very good. We were given the option of getting a photograph at the end but we declined because it was a bit embarrassing, in Thailand they didn't give you the option and got in the photograph with you which was really funny. The customer services has got a bit of work to do.

So much fun !!!!
Oct 2015 • Business
I booked this experience for 18 of my colleagues as a Team Building Exercise. We were split into 4 teams and took four of the rooms to do "Kidnap in the Living Room". We had a ball, it was so much fun. The clues were not obvious and were taxing but so enjoyable !

Everyone was buzzing when we left and it was a great talking point all evening. Was definitely worth the money and we all said we would go again.

Great Team Building Activity
Sep 2015 • Business
Escape Hunt was the surprise activity at the end of a staff day. Although we have lots of different ages and personalities on our team, everyone loved this & I can highly recommend it. The admin/organisation was great - and Escape Hunt seems perfectly geared for bigger groups (we were just over 20). The photo booth is also a great way to end it all off :)
