About
Every Friday at 4 p.m. beginning at Jermyn Street Theatre, Dr. Cindy Lawford gives a sense-expanding, anecdote-filled tour of Jermyn Street. You gain special access to traditional shops selling exquisite perfumes, cheeses, cigars and art works. You hear how the finest gentlemen's hats and shoes are made and how the best bespoke shirts are tailored. You also hear the deep history of Jermyn Street, its celebrities and scandals. Winston Churchill and James Bond tend to get mentioned frequently. On Tuesdays at 12:45, Cindy also offers a shortened version of the tour, lasting around 45 minutes, that includes a sandwich from Paxton & Whitfield. For those particularly interested in suit tailoring and the history of the suit, Cindy gives a Men's Fashion Heritage Tour on Mondays at 3 pm and the last Saturday of the month at 10 am. Along with a history of Savile Row itself, this tour includes visits to the tailors of the Row and the most traditional shops of Jermyn and St. James's Street. Private tours are also available, and interviews with cutters are possible but cannot be guaranteed. This tour begins at Gieves & Hawkes, 1 Savile Row. In November 2015, Cindy will be launching an Art Tour of St. James's that will take in several of the wonderful art galleries on Bury Street, Duke of York Street, King Street, St. James's Place and Jermyn Street. Subjects include Impressionism, old maps, Tudor portraiture, 18th century porcelain, French bronze sculpture, contemporary prints by celebrated artists, pre-modern Asian art and children's book illustration.

We've been on a lot of walks in the past. The guide must be animated, upbeat and interesting to young and old. You get all of this with Cindy, bigtime! We chose the Tuesday lunchtime introductory walk, having found her details in Time Out. You start by selecting your cheese sandwich from London's oldest cheesemonger, (included in the price) and munch your way round the neighbourhood while Cindi regales you with all the gossip and scandal she can cram in. Along the way you'll try out exotic perfumes and visit a legendary milliner, where you can get a hat made for under £12000. Alternatively you could purchase another walk on a Friday or get a custom-made walk. We are definitely returning with Cindi to this fascinating but often overlooked area of London near Picadilly. You really must try it.

Three of us took Cindy's private tour on the new years eve day. She was very nice and we all enjoyed. I (mom) wanted my sons to appreciate what British gentleman's fashion is all about.. Not just fads that comes and goes with cheap stuff, but timeless traditon to define a gentleman. It is not easy to appreciate something like that by living in the US. We only took a look at them, never really bought anything, but since the shop clerks are all good friends with Cindy, we never had to feel pressured. If we did not take this tour, we know we would never feel like going inside of these shops, just because it could be intimidating for regular average American tourists like us. I wanted my sons to know there is a different world out there, besides what we usually see here in the US.
It was great time to spend with Cindy, and it was worth it. Thank you Cindy!

Just returned from a weekend in London to celebrate my husband's birthday. I wanted to plan something with a bit more originality than the usual theatre and meals and this tour fitted the bill perfectly! Cindy is a brilliant guide who really brought Jermyn Street to life with a great blend of facts and fun, plus we got to sample some superb cheese! Although we've visited the area a number of times before we had no idea of its colourful past or the great history of the street. We met some really interesting people in their shops who were very friendly and made it a truly relaxed and enjoyable experience. Cindy, you're a star...thank you for a terrific tour! J & P

Cindy is a charming and passionate guide, and the tour is fun and informative.
Jermyn Street is THE street in London for everything the English gentleman needs from shirts to shoes to monogrammed slippers and badger hair shaving brushes....etc.
Cindy's tour takes you behind the scenes and gives you a fantastic insight into the history and tradition of the unique stores in the street.
Highly recommended.

I was very lucky to have a one-to-one tour with Cindy showing me the shops along Jermyn Street. Not only do I get to know the history of the street and shops, I was also introduced to the people managing the shops. Without Cindy's guide, I would have never seen Winston Churchill's siren suit nor tasted the best cheese in my life. The two hours went by so fast! It was the most memorable part of my London holiday and made me want to buy a property nearby Jermyn Street.

We booked a private tour with Cindy to combine the best of Savile Row and Jermyn Street. The tour was supposed to last for two hours. We ended up with a three hour tour in which Cindy brought us closer to the histroy, secrets and ongoing changes of those two fascinating streets.
A wonderful experience thanks to Cindy´s passion and enthusiasm for this area.

Walk, led by an expert, up and down Jermyn Street. Learn about shoes, bespoke shirts, cheese, perfume, King Charles II and his mistresses, and more. I have walked up and down Jermyn Street for years during annual visits, and I learned quite a bit during this all too brief tour. Well worth the time and money. Definitely recommended to all interested in history and men's fashion!

I was familiar with Jermyn Street, and had even been to a few shops along it previously, but when I discovered Cindy's walking tour of it, I had to give it a try as I find walking tours are usually the best way to learn about a place or landmark. Cindy's tour was immensely enjoyable and informative. Her knowledge of the history of the shops and products sold was fantastic, and her enthusiasm and energy was infectious. The shopkeepers were delighted to have us there and were very welcoming and professional when we made inquiries or purchased goods. A highly recommended activity for an unusual London activity if you've done all the usual tourist attractions.

We are a group of 4 friends who once a month visit London from Kent for cultural outings and a nice lunch. Cindy was a fabulous guide full of historical information who brought the area to life. Mixed with introductions into the ancient retail institutions along Jermyn Street made the tour a living history. We loved the fabulous and oldest cheese shop Paxton and Whitfield, the delightful Floris... yes one of us bought a bottle, and the lovely David at Hilditch & Key who is the best bespoke shirt maker on the planet! Memorable snippets of historical gossip... was Charles 2nd the illegitimate son of Henry Jermyn? 'Hello Magazine', have you picked this up??! I would recommend this tour highly. All due to Cindy we even got a discount on our lunch!

I booked this rather at the last minute, but Cindy could not have been more accommodating. There were only two members of the group, both of us had been to Jermyn Street in the past, and Cindy was careful to take our respective experiences into account with her talk. I heard many new stories, and visited some shops I hadn't previously been into. Best of all was being able to meet some of the craftsmen working behind the scenes, and hearing their stories, all in the context of this interesting and worthwhile tour. Highly recommended.
