Shame About The Cinema
Aug 2019
Treated to event here by my daughter for a Christmas Gift - Virgin Experience - very kind and much appreciated. Selection of Films available was not fantastic but never mind we chose a 2007 Movie we had not seen or heard of before - Into The Wild - for a 5pm showing on August 3rd. Arrived at 4 had our glass of Champagne and went into the Cinema Room; 2 hours later all done and headed home. So what’s Good - The Bar is very nice and very comfy. There are some converted Cells to look at or sit in and a few bits of memorabilia to read//look at. If you want more to drink the Bar looked well stocked so plenty of choice. What’s not good - The Cinema I’m afraid to say is a major disappointment; chairs are not very comfy and the ‘Rake’ is almost non existent so wherever you sit other than in the front row you are constantly dodging around trying to get even a half decent view of the screen in between the guests in front of you. I guess these day even at your local Odeon you get used to and are usually guaranteed a certain quality experience when you go The Cinema and I’m sorry to say this is not it. I don’t think there was a spare seat in the room which meant around 100 guests using the same Experience Gift as us and from some of the comments overheard I don’t think we were alone in our criticism of the Venue. The Film - we’ll that was pretty rubbish as well sad to say but that’s nobody’s fault but ours - I now know why we had never heard of it in 2007 - I think it more ‘escaped’ than was released. The Film/Sound quality was ok(ish))and obviously in such a small private area you don’t go expecting the IMAX however overall it felt like we were watching - or trying to watch- a DVD on a rather poor Home Theatre system Sorry to be so negative about what was quite an expensive gift but think carefully before you book this for yourself, family or friends.

Neighborhood: Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.

Huge disappointment.

I bought the champagne cinema experience for two as a birthday present and it was an utter disappointment. The foyer had no atmosphere, it was quiet and empty. Our glass of champagne wasn’t in a champagne glass. We were told we couldn’t eat in the cinema- surely that’s part of going to the cinema?! The tables to put our drinks on in the cinema weren’t level and so we had to put our drinks on the floor. The cinema itself is cheap with no luxurious feel whatsoever. The picture quality was poor. I could have had a more enjoyable experience at any other cinema and for half the price. Utterly disappointed. Do not recommend!

A brilliant experience
May 2019 • Couples
We visited last night and had read the mixed reviews on here but being absolutely honest I dont know what people were unhappy about. We saw Rebel without a cause, now I dont know if it was on dvd or not as I never saw a play arrow but even if it was thats fine as the chance to see the film on the big well maybe medium screen in a cinema setting was what it was all about. Yes the airline style tables do tilt towards you and you cant put a drink on them so we just put the drinks on the floor! The place is clean and smart, the cinema is small and intimate and the staff really friendly and helpful and a chance to sit in an old jail cell and have a glass of bubbly was a real novelty. I would definately recommended and we are planning to go back and see another old film that we never got the chance to see at the cinema.

Cinema Classics
Feb 2019
We were given a cinema experience with a glass of champagne at the Couthouse Cinema as a Christmas present.
There is a different classic film played there every week. We chose Breakfast at Tiffany's as I have never see it before. You need to book in advance to ensure you get a seat.
I like the venue and the cinema, it is cosy and intimate.
I was a bit disappointed by the lack of snacks, nachos etc but there is a bar.
Overall it was a good night out.

Relaxing Evening
Jan 2019 • Couples
Bought for us a gift we selected our film and date and arrived approx 25 mins before the 8pm showing. Received our drinks which were part of the Virgin Experience package, but there is also a full bar to choose alternatives if you wish to purchase. We made our way through to the adjacent cinema area and took our seats. No problems with film and enjoyed the whole experience. Cinema seats approx 90 and was no more than a third full so plenty of seating choice. Located just across from Liberty's this made for a different experience to usual cinema visits.

DVD?
Aug 2018 • Family
My son took me to see Psycho as a present and I really enjoyed the experience overall. But that was because he took me, because he hadnt seen Psycho before and enjoyed it and because I liked the bar with its quirky cells (retaining their toilets) converted into comfy booths.

However, I expected the quality of sound and vision to match my Blu Ray version on HD TV at home. And it fell short. As a play/triangle icon appeared at the start them I assume (like another reviewer) that what was projected onto the (fairly small) screen came from a DVD and not from a reel. That made it feel like we’d been hoodwinked. I wanted to experience it like people did at the time and it isn’t acceptable to call it a cinema experience never mind a luxury one, given the fact that most conventional cinemas are more comfortable.

Not going back and wouldn’t recommend it.

Absolute rip off!
Feb 2018 • Couples
Got a virgin experience cinema experience for two with a glass of champagne each. The hotel itself it’s lovely, as is the bar we waited in. However when walking into the bar there was a strong toilet smell which was very off putting.

The cinema experience itself is a complete rip off. The seats were very uncomfortable (normal cinema seats are more comfortable!). They were completely upright and slightly padded with foam maybe? The side tables that are connected to the seats are slanted down so you can’t even put a drink on them!! The ‘armrests’ they speak about are no better than normal cinema one, if not slightly smaller.

The cinema seats 100 people, we decided to sit at the back as that is usually where people go for the best viewing, what a mistake that was. The room is not slanted enough for a clear viewing of the screen, therefore wherever you sat you had everyone else’s heads in front of the screen. The screen itself was quite small and was at the bottom of the slant instead of being situated higher, like a normal cinema would. As the film started we noticed a ‘Play’ button in the corner...which made it seem like they had just put a DVD on. The sound quality was poor also, as if they had just put a DVD on... just on a slightly higher volume.

Overall I was highly disappointed with this experience. The description they had given is highly misleading. They should not be describing it as luxurious, a normal cinema is 10x better!! I would have expected a hell of a lot more effort from a high end hotel.

Overpriced and tacky.
Feb 2018 • Couples
Watched a devil wears Prada on a champagne drink voucher had the cheapest champagne (worse than cava) in a non champagne glass bar was tacky and dirty. Went in to cinema chairs were comfortable but no better than your local multiplex. Tables pulled out like an airplane seat and did not sit level so you could not put your drink on it. Better to go to Everyman if you want a nice and different cinema experience where you have nice sofas and good drink choices plus nice pop corn and snacks this seemed like a place to rip off tourists not a nice date nite.
