We saw The Secret Theater performance this fall. It was fantastic. Very intimate. Great acting. Loved the candlelit theater experience. Would absolutely go back for another production.

Delightful delicious musical about two chocolatiers - such fun and even given a sample chocolate that we had to open at a said time. Sadly the seating is hard wooden benches!

First time at the Sam Wannamaker Playhouse and it won't be the last! We watched The Secret Theatre, which felt very contemporary, in THE most magical theatre I have ever been... Great acting, spellbinding story, and star performance of that unsung (or perhaps veneered?) character......More

I went last December and saw 'All The Angels' and it was absolutely amazing. The Theater itself was beautiful, the performance was wonderful, and the staff was very helpful. I was in standing room only, so was afraid I wouldn't have a good view, but...More

The Sam Wanamaker is a lovely theatre and I would happily give it an excellent rating. However, the rotten members of staff ruin the whole thing. We attended the final evening performance of "Lions and Tigers", which was wonderful. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said...More

My wife and I went to a matinee performance of Lions and Tigers last Saturday. The play was an interesting one of important historical events of the Indian struggle for independence . It was well written and well acted . In concept it seemed an...More

A reading is better than a rehearsed play because so much happens off script, and in the small space, you can really attend with the intensity that other places cannot give you. One of my favorite theater experiences ever, and also readings usually focus on...More

Took our daughter as part of her A level revision, and had a superb time. A great play set in a wonderful playhouse, really small space you feel part of the performance.

We saw a fantastic performance of Othello in this atmospheric Jacobean theatre, that is lit by candlelight. We are contemplating a return visit to see it again.

Saw Othello last night. Great production; I just about held it together to sit on really uncomfortable cushioned benches. Luckily my wife had brought extra cushions which made it bearable. Before the play started I took my overcoat and laptop case to the cloakroom to...More

Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard,
the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond
any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some
time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved
browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street,
foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old
foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks
of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest

Upper gallery has the best views of the stage and of the interior of the playhouse. Well-worth the extra stirling.
