This is a local pub for us. It was our first visit since the start of Covid. Bookings recommended as there is less seating and this place gets busy. Modern and buzzy. Interesting crowd, mostly locals. We ordered fish & chips and the vegan burger. Both meals great size (not ridiculously large), tasty and well presented. Super service. If you are looking for a pub meal and want a decent meal, then this may be the place for you. With three glasses of Rose and the meals, total bill around GBP60. Highly recommended.

My review is based on 3 recent visits to this venue. I attended with family and a group of friends recently for a Sunday lunch. I've been to this local venue multiple times and it's noticeable how their service has deteriorated. Inexperienced waiters that clearly demonstrate their lack of expertise based on how nervous they look when they come to speak to you. This has been noticed in the previous two times I attended for a Sunday lunch. Multiple mistakes were made in our orders. And once we were told the only meat available was lamb (on a Sunday at 1pm!!!)...to later find out that it was actually a lack of communication with the kitchen! Regarding the food...well, it used to be good. Now the roasts are served soaked in a watery sauce...that was the same on 6 plates of food. I'm not sure if that was intended to be gravy. Yorkshire puddings were basically flat. It's a pity, but I don't intend to return.

Visited on a Saturday evening with friends. Great atmosphere, not too crowded and good service for drinks/food. The Dukes burger was a great meal for a reasonable price and the sirloin steak well proportioned also. I will return to this pub.

Looking for a great Sunday roast, this pub should be able to deliver. Two roast pork with crackling and all the fixings were ordered. It is clear that virtually everything on my monster portion plate was made hours before and was just sitting under a lamp to be assembled. Everything on my food came lukewarm and the carrots were actually cold. I stated this to the lovely waitress who obligingly returned it to the kitchen. Ten minutes later, the food came back, the exact same temperature but the carrots were not cold and the pork was warmer. The Yorkshire pudding was inedible and cold and simply not good. I left half my plate of food. The saving grace was a lovely apple compote for the pork and the apple and pear crumble, again, a portion which could have easily fed three people. The pub has a great atmosphere so it is a shame the food is not good.

a bit of a disaster at lunch....while the mistakes were later corrected by management, we were served some overcooked fries (quasi burned) and very sad looking burgers (iceberg lettuce, tiny burger and minimal cheese, no bacon).
