Address
Neighborhood: Spitalfields
For a glimpse of Georgian and Victorian London at its most pristine, or a peek into what's apt to be the next big global trend, the hipster zone of Spitalfields can provide hours of amazement. Around the clock, this is a haven for early morning bargain hunters sizing up its street markets, foodie foragers throughout the day, or late night revelers hitting some of London's most popular bars and clubs.

Wedged between the business-minded City of London, expressly trendy Shoreditch, and zestful Whitechapel, the lines between traditional and contemporary beautifully blur in this historic East End nexus.

Evening cocktail hour
Sep 2020 • Couples
We know it's strange times, but would prefer a liitle more banter about the mayor and the secret at the start. However, great bar, with good service, fabulous 80's music, pleasant beer, interesting and creatively presented cocktails. Well worth a visit.

Amazing Cocktails and Exciting Vibe
Feb 2020 • Friends
I visited this bar this week and havent stopped telling the story to anyone who will listen, I loved it so much!

We entered the upper floor restraunt establishment and gave the password we were advised of before being let into a "secret" passage into a speakeasy type underground cocktail bar.

The staff were incredible warm and friendly as they seated us and asked about our flavour preferences to get a sense of what cocktails to recommend. They all knew their menu inside and out and were prepared to adapt it to our tastes too. Aside from the professionalism of the mixology, the staff were incredibly funny and were able to give all of the tables in the bar face time and make them feel like regulars.

The presentation of the drinks was beautiful and the styles unique and intriguing, but nothing could have prepared me for how deliciously the high quality ingredients in these drinks were combined and how accurately the staff matched their menu to my palate.

This was such a fun night and I cannot wait to go back! Particular shout out to all of the staff on Wednesday night the 26th of February who made my visit there so memorable!

Bit of Fun and Theatre
Feb 2020
Think best if you do not tell your friends in advance about the secret entrance door and ask one of them also to ask a member of staff 'Can we see the Mayor please' all add's to a bit of fun and theatre.

Once downstairs the atmosphere is dark and happy vibe. Staff are attentive and of good humor. Cocktails are well presented and reasonably priced for London Cocktail bars.

Never got a chance to enter
Dec 2019 • Friends
Though the website says that the bar closes a 10:30 and last entrance at 10pm, we couldn't be able to enter. We were there at 9:20, walk 30mn and were here only this night coming from Belgium.
The lady said that it was too late but let enter 2 people a few seconds before our asking.
So so so disappointing !

Not so secret bar

A bit expensive but different so kind of worth it.
Enter through the fridge with a password, table service, interesting staff and enough going on to keep you entertained. Worth going for the different experience

Quirky Cocktail Bar
Jan 2019 • Couples
My partner found this place referenced online and fancied trying it. It’s located very close to Liverpool Street Station. You have to go into a breakfast place and ask to see the Mayor.
They then took us into a big fridge and out the back of it into a stair down to a very cool and quirky cocktail bar. The atmosphere was great and people were very friendly and interactive with each other. The choice of drink was good and there’s a good selection of food.
We’ve tried a great number of these speakeasy type bars all over and this one is well worth a visit.
Shoutout to the host that was seating everyone. He was a great character and very entertaining.

Interesting bar
Mar 2018 • Friends
The upstairs is a bar / restaurant whilst the downstairs is a hidden speakeasy with a large list of cocktails.

The bar staff are unable to go off menu though as I asked for 3 well known cocktails and they were unable to mix any of them.

You are required to have 1or2 drinks upstairs whilst you are waiting to go downstairs, which doesn't make sense as the downstairs wasn't that busy.

Anniversary Cocktails
Jun 2018 • Couples
What a great place to enjoy a cocktail and what an experience. Enter at the Brwakfast club in artillery lane and ask the barman if you can see ‘the mayor’? Yes do it! You will be seated at a table while you wait for an appointment. After 10 minutes or so the fridge door will be open and you will descend into a basement cocktail bar and be given a choice of cocktails, wines or other drinks of your choice. Very secret and awesome to sit at the bar sampling different cocktails watching others being made. Definitely a great way to end our anniversary evening. Very friendly place, great drinks, but maybe a little expensive? Good value for money though and will go back if the mayor will see me again, and this time with a few friends. If you want to round off a great evening I would recommend taking cocktails here, it is awesome! Plus can you keep the secret when it’s finally time to leave?? I hope so as I think as many as possible should experience this unique fun intimate concept, absolutely loved it!

What a fab find!
Mar 2018 • Couples
A very cool cocktail bar hidden beneath a breakfast club! We arrived and mentioned the Mayor as you must! And we were seated, we had to wait about 5-10 mins which was fine, people all around us tucking into breakfast which looked delicious! The entrance is through a Smeg fridge! We were quickly ushered through and asked to be discreet- once downstairs the cocktail bar is dimly lit with a funky vibe and the cocktails are fantastic! A really great afternoon spent in a very cool bar! Will absolutely recommend!

Speak easy bar
Sep 2017 • Friends
Speak easy bar accessed via the Breakfast Club bar and restaurant on Artillery Lane.

Serving good cocktails.

You may have to wait a while in the Breakfast Club before you are allowed entry to the Speak easy via the fridge door however while your waiting good quality food and drink is available.
