Whether you're here for its dynamic street life, world class galleries or famed curry houses, you're bound to be wowed by the uniquely cosmopolitan flavor of Whitechapel. Long gone are the days when Jack the Ripper stalked its streets. And despite his mysterious legacy bringing throngs of curiosity driven tour groups to its back alleys and otherwise serene garden squares, these days you're more likely to catch a cutting edge fashionista scurrying through its age old lanes than criminals of any sort.

I love this pub. It is warm, friendly, welcoming and serves great cocktails.. with a great shaker.
If peckish the good is fab too.
A must visit if in Whitechapel.

Great range of beer, great food and great atmosphere! What more do you want in a bar? We ordered the 3 for £12 sides, all came quickly and were piping hot!

We had friends staying on Sunday night and were looking for somewhere open late in the Whitechapel/Stepney area. We trekked down to Urban bar in Limehouse, where we have been before and sadly they were closed at 11pm (Google advised that they were open until 1am). Eventually we found our way up to their sister branch and we were quite impressed with what we found. The bar was fairly quiet, but the staff were attentive and the range of drinks were good. We sat in a booth with a good view out on to the street and a cosy feel. It was a good experience and we are keen to go again.

American Express always offer a deal around Xmas whee if you spend £10 you get £5 cashback on your payment. Massive signs all over the bun in December advertising this. Tried to buy one pint on my amex tonight and was refused, apparently they don't do this. Go somewhere decent instead. Maybe they'll clean the men's toilets if they have more time. Absolutely disgusting
Or got nearby to the white Hart or even the blind beggar

Very convenient meeting-up place opposite Whitechapel tube station for those intending to go on to the venerable Tayyabs. And, certainly at 7pm on a Tuesday evening, it does the near-impossible and manages to make Tayyabs sound like a library by comparison! Hard to make yourself heard over the constant din of a hundred over-exciteable shouted conversations. But the range of craft beers is excellent and the place has a friendly vibe. Looks to do decent food also.

I booked this venue for a music gig, and it was a terrible experience. The upstairs was rented for my show that consisted of mainly Gospel artists, and Neo-soul what was planned to be a great show was cancelled by the manager only 10minutes before the first band were set to start. Without any notification.
I dont feel this situation was handled professionally by management and the team and therefore do not personally reccomend this place.
I am appalled by how the staff treated me on this occasion and feel the staff of this bar were very rude to myself and my guests.

This place has had a nice re vamp since my last visit.
There were 4 of us eating, we ordered a variety of things, burgers/ nachos/calamari and halloumi. It was pleasant enough, the calamari was a bit soggy. We left feeling full and we were happy. I notice that they are bringing out a new menu shortly so it would be worth a return visit.

The great thing about this pub is that they have Timothy Taylors on draught, and its always kept and served really well.
Also some craft beers, which are also really nice, but pricey.
Decor is plain/stripped back - staff very friendly, and in a great location for a couple of drinks before you go to Tayyabs or Lahore for a curry.

Had the most amazing birthday here in August. We were given the whole pub whereby we had a band and DJs upstairs whilst downstairs we had food and chill out areas
The buffet provided was top notch Japanese fare, with vegetarian and gluten free options included
The staff were absolutely brilliant and they catered for our every whim
It was fabulous

Great service and food from a pub right on the corner right outside Whitechapel station, went there for dinner on a Thursday night and had a great time, once it got dark they even improved the mood by putting candles out, 10 out of 10 from the gf!
