What people are saying
poorly run drug filled hotel....avoid!!!
Jun 2019
Myself and 2 friends booked to stay at this hotel for 1 night, we had been out most of the evening and arrived back at the hotel at approx 1.30am. Within around 20 minutes of us being in bed the fire alarm went off. We couldn't smell any smoke, only a strong smell of drugs (we assumed this was the cause of the alarm). A few minutes went passed and the alarm was still going off, we looked outside our bedroom window to see a few of the guests had gathered outside so we thought we should leave the building. When we went downstairs the smell of drugs was getting stronger, we spoke to another guest outside who advised she had called the number on the door but there was no answer. It was very clear by that point no one who worked at the hotel was on site. As we couldn't get hold of a member of staff by phone we called the fire brigade. They are arrived with a few minutes and checked the building, they advised there was no fire but believed someone was smoking in the building which was probably the cause of the alarm. They switched the alarm off and left. Within a few minutes of us being back in our room the alarm went off again, we went back downstairs where another guest pointed out the room she believed the smell of drugs was coming from and proceeded to bang on the door. 2 men opened the door to a smoke filled room, there was around 10-12 other people in this room and when one of the other guests advised she had called the police they all ran out the room leaving 2 people. The police arrived and searched the room etc and tried to make contact with the emergency number left at the hotel. Again, no answer and the police advised us that they went to another address to track down someone to turn the alarm off but there was no one there (i'm not sure what the address). The police asked the 2 men (who were responsible for the drug filled) to leave the hotel which they did. By this time we were waiting for the fire brigade to come back to turn the alarm off again. By the time they arrived and we finally managed to go to bed it was 4.30am in the morning. We were told the next morning by reception we would get a refund-something which the hotel are now refusing to do and advised that the night porter got called out on an emergency and the events were out of there control so they are not excepting any responsibly which I find disgusting!!!! The welfare of the guests is clearly not something that matters to them!

On arrival we were met by the guy on reception. Check-in was functional and reasonably quick.

Up to the room.... corridors a bit tatty.

In the room.... very tired appearance... knackered, cheap pine furniture. Bedside cabinets badly stained from mugs.

Bed was barely useable. Uneven on my side, which kept rolling me into the middle. Uncomfortable.

Grafitti scrawled inside the window frame.

Bathroom tiny. Toilet squeezed between shower and wall.... gap so tiny that my shoulders were rubbing on the wall one side and cubicle on the other.

Two, very tired and flat pillows.... when we asked the guy at reception for a cpl of more pillows, you'd have thought I'd asked him to catch and pluck the duck and stuff the case himself. It appeared somewhat of a challenge for him.... although the pillows did in fact appear.... so that's a plus.

Other guests smoking out of the windows in their rooms.

On the plus side, Wetherspoons right over the road was ideally placed for brekky.

One to avoid, I feel.

Disgusting rooms! Incredibly rude man at desk
Oct 2018 • Couples
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!
Terrible place for families, couples, and people with children. I have stayed in accommodations throughout Canada, the USA, England, Ireland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and Japan and have NEVER been so displeased with the service. I've spent $15 a night in hostels in London cleaner and better staffed than this one! If you want to stay in a dirty badly staffed hellhole feel free!
If I could give less stars I would. The location was good and four months before I had stayed while in town with my sister and I assumed it would be an easy last minute place to book.
My boyfriend and I arrived around noon after both working long difficult days followed by a long and sleepless flight. We had lunch across the street while waiting for our room to be finished being cleaned. We were told the woman would hurry, to which I replied "take your time." Clearly she didn't take her time as shortly after arriving as I unpacked for the almost 2 week stay I found a USED CONDOM IN THE NIGHTSTAND. Absolutely disgusting. I immediately went to the front desk to ask for the room to be cleaned again/to switch rooms. There was absolutely no one at the desk. I looked around the hotel and waited but no one appeared and we had a busy schedule. We left a note describing our problem and went out for the day.
When we came back the room very obviously hasn't been touched and the condom was still marinating in the drawer. There was a new and very rude man was working the front desk. I asked if he got the note (MANY hours after leaving it) and he picked it up off the desk and read it very clearly for the first time. We then had a conversation that consisted of me being polite and asking for the nightstand to be removed and him implying my boyfriend and I had left it there and that it was my fault for not reporting it sooner. He essentially refused to switch our rooms or bring the cleaner over. He repeated three times that I should have told them sooner which was IMPOSSIBLE because him and every other living being in that building seemed to have screwed off to go make other people's lives more inconvenient. Eventually he came and aggressively removed the dresser all while displaying an extreme amount of attitude. What a nasty man and what a nasty hotel.
I'm sorry that I don't go searching through every drawer in a hotel room within the first two minutes looking for dirty used condoms. And implying we left it to get a free night or something??? Insulting. They never would have implied that of a older couple. We at no point even suggested any discounts only that it be removed or our room switched.
Other than that, one lamp didn't work, one lamp flickered in a terrifying murder way, our soap was taken every time the cleaners came and not replaced( wtf???) our cups were not changed once during the two weeks, towels only changed about twice, quite clearly there were many days the cleaning staff didn't even come in.
I do not blame the cleaners for ANY OF THIS I understand they are given a set amount of time to handle each room and are probably paid terribly to add to it. I am completely disgusted with the way it was handled and with the behavior of the man at he front desk.
This was a health risk and completely disgusting. Imagine if I had been traveling with a child? Imagine if they had opened the drawer and touched it? Exposed and DAMP bodily fluids are dangerous and in a low drawer like that? What if the user had STDs?
It was insulting and disgusting and unprofessional. I would have been happy with an apology and a solution. Instead I was treated with contempt. My boyfriend and I are returning to the area for the month of April and will be seeking accommodation elsewhere. Airbnb is a much better option. For almost $1000 you would expect some professionalism. I will be reviewing this place on every platform available as I'm so incredibly offended by how it played out.

Reasonably priced

Stayed for one night it’s basic enough accommodation a single room with a separate bathroom it wasn’t ideal but it is what it is . The room was clean and spacious enough. No lift and a lot of stairs didn’t bother me but it may hamper others . It is located on the Main Street in Cricklewood and a 20 min taxi ride from central London.

Hmmmmm...
Dec 2015 • Couples
Well we visited around Christmas time to visit some relatives.

It was clear some renovation work was in progress as we had to walk around furniture left on corridors and paint pots and more. The smell of fresh paint was clear also.

The room.itselfnwas very basic. A very very small room with the bed against the wall but it did have everything we needed. The problem was only 2 out of 6 sockets worked so we had to unplug things to work others (unplug the light to plug in the kettle - which we had to move).

The shower room was very modernised but the temperature tap didn't work so we had a boiling hot shower which was too hot to be in. In really was that extreme!

On the last day of our 2 night stay whilst packing away we then found a condom wrapper on the floor which was not very comforting!

For the price we paid we certainly did expect better. Even though i could have put poor, I've gone for average because it's clear the hotel are trying to get things right and I'm sure that they will.

The plus point was the lovely receptionist who was extremely helpful. She was very polite and always had a smile.

Brilliant stay
Feb 2016 • Couples
Me and my girlfriend had a brilliant stay at The Windmill Hotel. We were celebrating our anniversary and they really did make us feel welcome and special on our special weekend stay in London.
The stairs can be a bit confusing at times but still didn't make a difference.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
It's also in a great location only being down the road from the jubilee line!
The only thing that let me down was that the window was left wide open when we arrived and made the room super cold.
Otherwise it was brilliant and would defiantly stay again!
