I have been desperate to try Albertine for quite some time after being recommended by a number of friends and finally got the chance to go and it was better than I could have imagined! The food was incredible, we had almost all the starters plus a couple mains, I had the hake which I can't recommend enough! The wine choices were lovely and very well priced and the service was brilliant. Can't wait to come back! I took my granny who was quite nervous to go out following covid and she felt very comfortable and safe and really enjoyed it too. Thank you team!

We were lucky enough to be invited to a private party in the upstairs room recently. The food was really good - only slightly annoying thing was that the bread was toasted and very thinly sliced. Being mainly ciabatta it meant eating sloppy starters was not easy as there were so many holes!
Steak was beautiful as were the veg and the profiteroles were fabulous
Will will definitely go back for a meal if we find ourselves in the Shepherd's Bush area again.

Booked a table here for a drink and food before a gig at the Empire, and just loved the place. It's filled with history - the Eastenders' first script was written here, and now owned by chef Allegra McEvedy (and her mother first opened it in 1978).

Excellent wine list - bottles and glasses - at fair value prices. We had 3 main courses and they were all delicious. Loved it so much we went back for another drink after the gig :)

It's a few minutes walk from Westfield - so junk the chain restaurants there and come her for a quality experience.

I was here with 3 work colleagues. The waiter was lovely, the food and wine great, but the manager was awful and I will not be back. She snatched the menu out of my colleagues hands. She told us to be quiet (we are 4 work colleagues who were not going crazy), she then shouted at my colleague, swore at her and manhandled her in an absurd and upsetting way. If the owner(s) read this, please get in contact, this woman should not be your manager.

Dear Ms Phillips, Thank you for the nice words about the food and the wine we serve at Albertine, it is truly a shame that your experience was ruined by a confrontation with our manager. I feel that your description of the events is rather biased and unfair. Firstly you were not asked to be quiet, only to lower the volume of your voice as several customers complained about how loud your group was; one table of 5 guests asked to move upstairs as they simply could not hear each other talking over your party’s extremely noisy conversation which was audible in all corners of the room. I am sorry if the message was not communicated to you with the correct "tone" by our manager on duty, but all the members of our team I have spoken to said that from that moment, you all became aggressive and provocative towards her for having done her job to tell you to lower your volume. From analysing the CCTV cameras, conducting interviews with all members of our team working that shift and having talked to some customers who were present on the night, I can only agree with you that our manager on duty dealt with your group in a less than exemplary manner. I believe however that she is a good person but young and inexperienced, and the way she came across and failed to ask me for help with the situation, even though I was in the building, is I’m sure down to these factors. I also disagree with you in thinking that calling someone "crazy" is OK. Infact, I believe that when someone dismisses someone else's emotional experience as "crazy", it's often to avoid taking any part of the blame. Please remember that you are personally attacking someone younger than you who was trying to deal with a difficult situation alone, while your group was drinking wine and having fun. I can tell you that the experience has caused much pain to that person and that despite needing more training in handling situations of conflicts like yours, I will not allow this to discourage her from continuing to excel in her job. What I have been reported, was an escalation of hostility that ended up with one of your colleague having to be ushered out of the door. On this account, I can see from the very clear CCTV footage that she was touched, albeit lightly, as our manager on duty got upset as she was being filmed without permission (this is a breach of privacy law). Should you choose to return to Albertine please I would really like you to let me know in advance, as I would like to be the manager on duty on the night and I will make sure to open something nice for you guys. Many thanks and Best Regards,

Great venue for a casual catch up over a glass/bottle of wine or a date night. The food menu is also very good which caters both for nibbles and full on meals.

The waiters are very knowledgeable of the wide array of wines which also vary in price so not too worry if your not a wine buff they will be able to recommend something that you will enjoy.

Well worth booking in advance as it does get very busy!

The food was pleasant but the rest of the experience was not. The music was pounding, the staff were perfunctory. The waitress broke the cork of our bottle of wine (£35 - good) while removing it and tried to hide it. A dish was forgotten.
It's a shame - it's got a good location for locals, the room is nice, the food is tasty, but on this occasion it was underwhelming for the price.

Hello Sylvie, I am very sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations on your visit and quite frankly a bit surprised by your strong comments. I wish you had talked to a manager on the night as we could have solved this easily then and make the experience much more pleasant for you. I admit the volume of the music at the ground floor bar -especially later in the evening and on the weekend, can be high. I am sorry if this was a nuisance to you, most customers like a bit of vibe there. I can guarantee that we put a lot of care in creating our playlists, we all love music at Albertine and customers often comment on the good music we play. In fact, we like to think that the music we play is very much part of the "bar" experience. I can only think that describing it as "nasty" is down to your personal taste and I believe it does not describe accurately what we play to other users here. We have a much quieter dining room upstairs for people who prefer to eat with only background music, I wish you had told us on the night, we would have certainly invited you to move up there. I can also guarantee that the word perfunctory really does not describe our staff. Everybody who works at Albertine is experienced and takes pride in customer service, they are all WSET trained and have a genuine passion for wine and for food. I believe an accident might have happened with your cork, which I am genuinely sorry about. This does happen sometime unfortunately, but I am sure the person you are referring did not try to internationally hide the cork. Trust me, I do not know anyone who works for us who would be as childish as to risk their job over a 30£ bottle of wine. I am sorry you felt so frustrated by your visit, I do hope you will come back and if you decide to do so please send me an email beforehand, I would love to buy you a glass to make up for this! Best Regards, Rob

I really enjoyed this unassuming Wine Bar, delicious Hummus plate with lots of Vegetables with an house white wine from Spain, very lucky to find it.

I've come to Albertines for years, over a decade easily. I've had birthdays, dates, arguments, long boozy lunches, post theatre dinners and after work drinks there - it's been the perfect haven from the madness of the world and the badness of the chains and dives you find everywhere. I loved it and so was devastated to hear it had closed imaging that when it reopens it will have lost all its unique charms.

I've never been so happy to be proved wrong!

It's just as cosy, just as buzzy and just as welcoming. It's really really similar to be honest. Cleaner, with better food and better light fittings but other than that it feels the same but better. Like it took of it's bad glasses put on some lip gloss and we all suddenly realised it was beautiful. The old Albertines food was generous and wholesome and pretty cheap, nothing I couldn't cook at home but nice. The new Albertines is perhaps even more generous (the starters are big enough to have as a light lunch I'd say) and utterly delicious - you could tell someone passionate about good ingredients was behind it - nothing especially fancy on the menu but more gastropubby than home cooking now. The wine list is still great, they do glasses and carafes of a good range of stuff and lots and lots by the bottle. There could have been one or two in a lower price range if I was being picky but it wasn't outrageous prices, I'm just being fussy.

You still have the lovely staff to hand to give advice on your choices - I'm not at all knowledgeable and people who are can be utterly patronising when 'helping' you make decisions, but not here. There is still a blackboard of cheese, albeit a smaller one than before. The whole experience from beginning to end was lovely. Like a warm hug. I will be back again and again for years to come I hope.

Albertine bar already has earned a reputation for a great place to hang out with friends over some excellent wines and tastey nibbles. Now it has opened its restaurant upstairs with a varied and intriguing menu.
Why eat in nearby Westfield when there is a superb excellent value and high quality alternative on offer?
The room is restfully decorated and has about 8 tables of varying sizes. I would definitely advise booking ahead so you are not risking disappointment.
We sampled the most sumptuous mussels, amazing pate and smoked cod's role mouse for starters - all very different to standard fare and delicious. For mains, I would highly recommend the lapin (2 enormous tender and tastey thighs in a picquant mustard sauce) and the green beans with anchovy butter were a revelation.
Desert shouldn't be missed if possible because every one is intriguing and delightful, often with unusual ingredients. My spiced poached plums with pistachios and labneh was so good I would happily eat it several times a day!
We had followed the advice of our knowledgeable waiter Nick with regard to a suitable wine accompaniment to our meals and the fresh and fragrant Italian white was just perfect.
To round off, the desert wine afterwards and coffees couldn't be faulted.
I will definitely be back!

We have had numerous evenings in the fabulously refurbished Albertine, but this was our first proper dinner upstairs in the new restaurant. All 6 ordered differently from rabbit stew, fish stew, and salt baked beetroot all of which were declared as delicious. Our wine choices were guided by Esther, leading to some over exuberance on our part but her knowledge of the extensive list and what to drink when assisted with our enjoyment. A great addition to W12.

Dear DMG1967, Thank you kindly for the positive review! We are so pleased that you had a good time on your first experience at the restaurant upstairs. I will pass your feedback to the kitchen team and to Esther who recommended the wines...over exuberance is a style we very much like! We hope to see you again soon. All the best, Rob Freddi, Chef Patron, Albertine
