Nice proper local pub.I was staying on a nearby campsite, I wanted to watch the play off finals to support my local team. Friendly staff happily put the game on for me and my son, plenty of the regulars were chatty and welcoming. Had an enjoyable couple of hours in there. Would recommend.

We went in here on our way to Greenwich by bike. Over the years we have tried other pubs along the Lea Navigation (Rye House, The Fish and Eals and the Crown) but never rally took to them.

We stopped off for lunch, the landlord was welcoming, the beer was fine (Mackmullens AK is not my favorite beer but it was well kept and very drinkable), the sandwiches were good, and the service was with a smile. Oh and there was a large TV screen on the wall showing the cricket - Excellent.

One point though, there seemed to be only one person running the place and although our service was absolutely fine the next customers to come in waited at least ten minutes before the landlord appeared (he was making our sandwiches!). I would not have been so positive in my review if I'd had that wait!

We visited on a Monday lunch time and it was almost empty, apparently it was rammed on Sunday. I'll be more than happy to visit again.

The new management have worked hard to turn this pub round. It is now hugely improved and a really pleasant place to visit with outside seating next to the canal and good live music (not too loud!). Well worth a visit.

Few of the locals have good things to say about the pub and go elsewhere... many many landlords over the 20 years we have lived here and McMullen refused to accept that the 4 people who ate and were ill had anything to do with the -- despite the fact the one who turned her nose up at the food was not sick..

To all LGBTQ people. DO NOT go in this pub or any McMullen’s pub! I had have ongoing homophobic abuse from both staff and drinkers in the pub. When I raised it with the brewery McMullins providing witnesses to my experience they just wrote that although they own the building they have leased it. They stated they would not manage the pub in that way themselves but essentially they have no control over it. I have email evidence that I am willing to share. By raising my concerns with the brewery the leaseholder has barred me: I’m trouble apparently disturbing the homophobic homeostasis in the pub! Please gay people for your own well being avoid mcmullens and this pub!

I visited on St Patrick's night and was pleasantly surprised. Good music, a nice crowd and a friendly atmosphere. No drunks, no rowdy teenagers. It's under new management and has therefore greatly improved. Well worth a visit, will be going again.

Not entirely sure why this place is listed as a nightspot but if you're walking the Lea Valley it's a good place to stop for lunch, right on the river. Two bars, one a public and the other a rather badly lit lounge but they do well kept beer and decent food at reasonable prices so its worth a stop if not an entry in the tourist guides just yet.
