Christmas Meal ruined by terrible food and service
Dec 2015
We came to Henry's for our office Christmas afternoon / evening celebrations, there were 14 of us in our party and we had ordered the 3 course menu from the Christmas menu selection, I must say everybody was very disappointed in the starter, the salmon pate was just cream cheese with a few tiny pieces of salmon in it, the Goats cheese crostini was also a disappointment and we believe the topping which was supposed to be beetroot and horseradish was actually cranberry sauce. As for the mains the sirloin of beef was over cooked and was grey in colour and was like leather to eat, the Turkey was like rubber in places, for some people their vegetables were cold. The only saving grace was the dessert. There was no Christmas music being played so we asked the waitress if they could put some Christmas music on but the reply we got was that they could not put the Christmas music on until the evening. The ladies & Gents toilets could also benefit from a refurbishment. In the ladies there were lights not working in quite a few of the cubicles, some of the locks did not work and there was no toilet paper in most of them. Other comments from people in the party are as follows: - “Considering the small number of people in the party I would have expected the main to come to the table piping hot rather than luke warm. The vegetables were clearly frozen and not fresh, so there was no preparation to do beforehand”. “The main thing that concerned me was that we were forced to pay the remaining balance before the meal had even been served. This was highly unusual and maybe an indication of the establishment knowing the menu on offer was not as advertised”. “Not enough crackers for the party even at one between two”. “No Baileys, even though this is a drink many people have at the end of the meal at Christmas, I was provided with a half measure for free which was nice, but my colleague missed out”. “The Crostini was not as advertised, this was 2 slices of French bread (Crostini is normally toasted bread) with a very small smear of cheese. Couldn’t taste the cheese as it was overpowered by the huge blob of what was supposed to be beetroot and horseradish but tasted suspiciously like cranberry sauce”. “Quality of the food was below the standard I would expect. The starters were particularly poor. Given the relatively small group and limited menu plus the price I would have expected better than what was delivered”. “With regards to the sirloin of beef we were not asked how we would like this to be cooked, it was overcooked and seemed like it had been cooked in the oven and stewed”. We would not come back again.

Shockingly bad service for our Christmas party
Dec 2015 • Business
Having hired the ground floor bar for a works Christmas party at the cost of £5000 minimum spend, we were disgusted at the service we received, with our food being two hours late getting to us, and when it did finally arrive it wasn't what we had paid for, and certainly not enough of it.

Whilst the kitchen was under pressure due to food friers having packed up, that is a poor excuse for a buffet being so late in getting served, when the majority of the food wasn't even fried food.

Of our party of over 100 people, I doubt that any of us will be returning to this venue

Really not good
Oct 2015 • Couples
We were so disappointed with this place the food was really not that great to be honest, I had the tomato soup which was like drinking a barely warm bowl of salt.......... Then changed it for another bowl of soup which was slightly better, the toilets were absolutely disgusting the pan was leaking across the floor and the smell made your eyes water, you would think that an establishment in this location would try their upmost to keep it clean and tidy and serve good quality food....... It was a shame as we were looking forward to a nice lunch.

Terrible attitude
Sep 2015 • Friends
Visited for friends birthday. Our age range was 39-60 years old. Two in our company were wearing hoodies not up and were asked by bouncers to remove whole jacket before entering. Both people were professionals one being a police sergeant and other in police intelligence. Very disappointed stereo typing by the bouncers. Shame on you! We went next door but one to lovely tapas bar! They appreciated out custom! :-/

Tried to order food to sit outside, told we couldn't
Jul 2015 • Friends
Went for lunch on a Friday (about 2pm) only to be told we couldn't order food outside we would have to sit inside to eat. This despite other people sat outside eating and there being plenty of tables available.

Inside is dark and dingy and with it being warm and sunny outside we didn't want to sit in the dark, we left and went to Via next door (where we could sit outside) and then watched other people be served food outside at Henry's.

Once again shocking service. Will not be returning.

Rubbish
Jul 2015 • Friends
We visited here recently for a few drinks after work it was a lovely sunny night so we went to the bar ordered drinks only to be told we couldn't sit outside and had to stay inside, we looked for a quiet place to have a drink found some seats, 5 minutes later a big group came and plonked down next to us shoring and screaming so we gave up on our conversation . It was like a sweat box inside and the place just kept filling up, suddenly the music went so loud, and it was odd as the bar is decorated like a sort of gentleman's club but they were playing dance music, it didn't match !!! I definitely wouldn't go again, Brown's next door is way better I'll continue to spend my summer evenings there instead

Great location
Dec 2014 • Family
Random visit today for lunch - despite the influx of Xmas lunch parties we were made welcome and attended fairly quickly. Pleasant and efficient staff and I can recommend the fish and chips. Interesting building in a great location.

Good food, especially sunday roast and breakfast!
Oct 2014 • Couples
I'm not vegetarian but love the veggie breakfast (instead of quorn sausage they use some type of cheese croquettes) - its not on the menu at the weekend but there are usually signs or just ask! Chicken tempura, bubble and squeak, fish and chips, garlic bread also all good! In summer this is such a nice place to sit outside have lunch overlooking the dock at West India Quay and so convenient for the DLR, Canary Wharf and having a massage round at China Health Spa! The Sunday roasts are really good, especially love the giant Yorkshire puds!!!!!
