Neighborhood: Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.

Really good Sunday lunch
Mar 2020 • Couples
Stopped off on a whim. Barman really friendly and knowledgeable. Went for Sunday lunch and wasn’t disappointed. Best I’d had in a long while. All tasted homemade. Not more I can add

Wanted to visit here for ages.............................
Mar 2020
Have wanted to call in here for ages as had heard from friends on past visits that the atmosphere was really good, was a little disappointed and looked like the pub could do with a deep clean. Staff are nice though

Hi Jordan - cheers for taking the time to leave us a review on tripadvisor. I can assure you that we clean (a lot - we have a team of just woman here ;)) but the pub is old and hasn't had much changed in many years. Saying this, we will be restoring features and re fitting the toilets from this weekend onwards. Do come back and visit us from the 17th April when we re open :) Many thanks Ali

The new management haven't yet discovered the charm and friendliness of the old landlords
Oct 2019
The pub changed hands this summer. At one level you would not notice (except the toilets have been spruced up) except that the prices have gone up and the cats are sorely missed.

The pub is a nice old fashioned true example of a traditional British pub complete with a piano and regular sing-a-longs. It's a real gem of a place.

As of Oct 2019, the new management haven't yet found the friendliness and welcome of the old landlords. A group of us have been frequenting the pub for ages (even years) for a fun sing-a-long each week. (In fact, if you're visiting London, you might be in for a treat of Bohemian Rhapsody sung in harmony)

When the usual 20-30 people arrived, I joked that the single person the bar might want reinforcements when we get there. She said, 'well we didn't think you were regulars - you weren't here a couple of weeks ago' (Unsurprisingly during the height of the summer when we had a break). 'And I don't know why you're here - the piano doesn't work today'. Which was a strange thing to say, as if we were psychic to know this.

I do hope the atmosphere and charm improves, because it's a great pub, and it'd be sad if the 30 or so regulars felt that we should move elsewhere in case we are an irritation to a nice quiet evening for the staff.

Interesting that you choose to write this review after only thinking to myself that I would like to meet your group. We are yet to meet although I have been running The Coach now since the end of June - Mondays are a very busy admin day so regrettably am yet to meet your choir group that come in on Monday nights to rehearse for your duties at a local church. I find it disheartening you have chosen to leave the response here on trip advisor rather than encourage a conversation with myself - as you know Rhi usually holds the fort on a Monday night, a face you would surely recognise as she has been here for some time under both sets of management. Perhaps a relationship with your group and the team has not flourished. I hear that the team set out jugs of soda water and fresh lime, as many of your group perhaps do not drink alcohol while you rehearse, I have also heard that sometimes one of the staff takes a break while your crew are in the pub. Rather than some spikey words over the internet it would be great to meet in person and chat over exactly what you expect from the rehearsal time you have in the pub and the affect it has on the staff and patrons alike. Please call the pub or email me so we can arrange a time. Alison

Proper Soho bar

A place for writers, drinkers and thinkers. The brewery are kicking the landlords out, hopefully they can keep the ethos of this magnificent dive intact.

We were here with friends and sat happily for hours on a catch up and then were recommended to their Salt Beef sandwhiches - to die for!

Decent Lunch
Mar 2019 • Solo
I happened upon this place and was excited to see that it was a fully vegetarian/vegan pub, so decided to pop in for lunch.

The sign outside referenced their signature ‘tofush and chips’, so I ordered that plus a rum and coke, which came to £17.30.

The food was freshly prepared and the portion very generous. I found the tofush a bit bland, but the chips were delicious.

The pub itself had very traditional decor and some interesting theatre-related items on the wall.

It’s somewhere I would go back to, as I’d like to try some of the other dishes on the menu and I thought it was pretty reasonably priced for London.

Badly needs cleaning... and seats
Apr 2019 • Couples
You would expect that a pub would have adequate seating but there are barely any seats in this place; plenty of stools along the bar required. it seems they just want to cram as many people in as possible, without thought of comfort at all. Place was dirty too ! Will certainly never return !

Need to improve quality of food. Beer was good.
Apr 2019 • Couples
Hoping to enter a place that could revive the great days of Food For Thought, we went for a dinner for 2. Warm place, friendly staff, great beer. But...
Food was somewhat disappointing. The Tofush needed some flavour since it lacked it. You can't just get a block of tofu, wrap it in seaweed, dip it in a batter, fry it, and expect to taste like something. You need to help the tofu with a marinade or some kind of condiment that can actually lift the otherwise nonexistent flavour of tofu. Same as with the peas. No oil, no herbs, no nothing? Why?
On the other hand, the sunday roast was saved by the gravy which we rarely use in Italy but i have to admit that it's been a life saver for the whole dish.
I'm sorry that Fuller did not renew the lease, but at least go out with a bang. Give customers some memories about you food. Good memories.

CAT LOVERS welcome..
Feb 2019 • Couples
There are 2 adult black cats in this pub and if you do'nt like cats just ignore them. We love cats so we petted both of them. They are not always there and we only met one on our second visit. We had beer and Baileys on ice and when it's busy you have to stand. The staff are good and Soho is a very crowded and busy area so we are pleased with our experiences. PURR ! !

Unusual quirky spot!
Feb 2019 • Friends
I couldn’t be less vegetarian myself but a vegetarian friend was visiting me and we needed somewhere to eat before going to the theatre nearby. I googled to try and find good vegetarian options but didn’t expect to find an old-fashioned, vegetarian pub- how exciting!! I called them to book a couple of days beforehand as I’d read the reviews saying it might be hard to get a table.
So first things first when you arrive- if you’re going for food, look for the opening in the bar (underneath the dead heads- see pic!!) that goes to some stairs. You’ll feel like you’re going behind the bar where customers shouldn’t go but ignore that. When you get upstairs, you’ll find yourself in an old fashioned, quirky looking tearoom!! (The cakes actually looked good but we were there for dinner so I didn’t sample them). We were seated quickly and although the waitress was a bit offhand so it wasn’t that easy to place our order, the food came quickly too which we appreciated as we didn’t have much time. We both had tofush and chips- as a ‘real’ fish lover I certainly wasn’t converted but it wasn’t bad I must admit!!! For a portion of tofush and chips, a large glass of wine each and service the bill came to £40 so £20 each- not bad at all for this part of London. I’ll return when I next have veggie friends visiting!!
