Since 1984 Les Senteurs has been a haven of fragrance tranquillity, away from the bustling crowds and fast pace of the department store. London’s oldest independent perfumery has become a destination for those in the know, looking for their dream fragrance, or a delightful discovery for the unaware passerby. Here visitors can browse, smell and explore in their own time and with the support of our welcoming and knowledgeable team. As journalist and Co-Founder of The Perfume Society, Jo Fairley once said, we are champions of the ‘slow-scent movement’. Finding ‘the one’ should never be rushed. Les Senteurs is the place to fall in love with perfume, if you haven’t already, as each visitor is taken on a personal journey of discovery to find their perfect scent.

Popped into the store on my lunch break and was welcomed with a smile. The Salesperson was very knowledgeable and introduced me to the scents that we had discussed where my interests. He also showed me a brand that were not known to me, which I enjoyed! I tried three scents on his advice and felt as though I was walking through a forest. Always nice trying new scents and feeling new emotions associated with them!
He talked through each thoroughly and although i did not buy this time, I did leave with a perfume on my wrist to see how it developed over the afternoon.
I'll be back to purchase for sure.

We have had a lovely day at Les Senteurs. Lily was so lovely with my daughter and her best friend. They sampled several perfumes and on her recommendation, we then went for a walk to see how the perfume changed. On one of the girls it virtually disappeared within minutes. She advised it was not the right one for her and so we tried some more. Both girls found ones they liked. Thank you for your kindness and patience.

Good range of some hard to find fragrances, very good online service with free samples thrown in.

I went to the branch on Elizabeth Street. The staff person was on the edge of rude. She reluctantly let me sniff a few perfumes but she didn't tell me anything about them (for example, the notes). I had the feeling that she had written me off as a waste of time the moment I stepped in the door. Needless to say, I bought nothing and was glad to get out of there. The next day I visited the branch on Seymour Place. The staff person there was terrific: very knowledgeable and helpful without being at all pushy. She introduced me to a perfume house that I didn't know and also left me free to roam about the shop and sniff. Needless to say, that is the branch where I made a purchase and I plan to return there today. I will not return to the Elizabeth Street branch. I would give a zero rating to Elizabeth Street and a 5/5 rating to Seymour Place.

This was a beautiful shop but our welcome was offhand and dismissive. We obviously did not look or sound the part, either that or someone was in a bad mood. We were also checked out for budget, immediately off putting.
Shame, I would never revisit and as in pretty woman we did have a considerable budget to spend had we felt welcomed and valued.

I visited this Shop in Elizabeth Street yesterday. The door was locked and I had to ring the bell - why? I was on the point of abandoning my visit when eventually someone unlocked the door and let me in. I didn't find the staff member at all helpful especially when asked "what's your budget?" which I thought was a bit odd. I did say the perfume notes that I like but was left unattended and I stood, a bit nonplussed. Eventually the staff member said "do you want some help?" and I was shown a couple of items with no explanation of the brand or the notes of the scents. At this point I decided that no matter what was shown, I would rather have my fingernails pulled than buy anything from this shop.
I am sure some people have had a much better experience but it did smack a bit of "Pretty Woman" if you know what I mean.

I took my best friend to buy a fragrance for her birthday & we had the most fabulous time. Les Senteurs is a delightful escape from the city, a luxurious bubble of beautiful smells and attentive service.
The staff - James and Clare - are hugely knowledgeable and have a true passion for fragrance. They talked us through and encouraged us to try almost everything they sell! We were treated to fresh coffee & mineral water as we chatted with them (and a very comfortable seat as I was rather hot after a speedy walk to the shop). Their customer service is generous and thoughtful and you can tell they genuinely like their customers and want to help them find what's right for them. You rarely get customer service like it these days I find.
Such attentive service and wonderful products. We bought a neroli perfume in the end which smells fantastically elegant.

My daughter Melanie bought this experience for my birthday. We visited last Saturday afternoon - had lovely cakes and bubbles, with a good group of other ladies. Odette was so interesting - telling us details of famous perfumes from the decade before the First World War. We were given samples to smell and the stories behind some of these iconic perfumes. It lasted two and half hours, just right. We plan to book in for the next decade experience covering the Roaring Twenties. Really looking forward to this. I would thoroughly recommend this for a wonderful afternoon out, and a special treat!

If you are VERY very interested in perfume amd have a lot of money, it'd be worth going

I absolutely love this store. It really is the most wonderful
place to visit if you are addicted to fine fragrance. Heaven on earth! Mention must be made of the ever so helpful and informative staff who are eager and enthusiastic when sharing their knowledge. I get to visit London approximately three times a year and can honestly say no visit would be complete without my dropping by this wonderful little gem of a place. Their mail order / sample service is also second to none. Bravo Les Senteurs!
