The area

Address
Neighborhood: Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.

We Love Shopping at Thomas Goode

My wife had visited Thomas Goode on Audley Street, on her first visit to London, almost 20 years ago, and took me there, the first time I visited London with her. It is an amazing store, in the heart of Mayfair, and while we do not visit every time we are in London, we do rather make it a bit of a habit.

In September, we were back, and staying in Mayfair, as per usual, so we headed over to Thomas Goode, especially as we had not stopped in on the previous 2-3 trips. The windows were done in Autumn themes, and on this weekday, we seemed to have the store to ourselves. We wandered through most, but our focus is always on their contemporary sections - the other areas, just contain merchandise, which is a bit too ornate for our tastes, and needs, but we still enjoy looking in those, as it is almost like a great museum exhibit. One can appreciate the beauty of items, which are not likely to fit into their homes.

There were helpful sales people, who inquired of our needs, and offered directions, but basically they just let us wander, and wander we did. On this visit, my wife found two lovely, tiered serving pieces, which complemented similar items, that we had purchased at Thomas Goode before. We vacillated on a few more things, including a piece of contemporary glass art, but only purchased those serving items.

Purchases made, and shipping to the USA arranged, we headed out to find some wine.

In this case, even with the Duty aspect, our purchases were waiting for us, when we returned to the States, in great shape - we have never had a single issue, with any shipped item from Thomas Goode. We will definitely return.

On a recent trip to London with my mother, we took a very enjoyable three days to visit interior decorating shops that would bore my husband. Mum has wanted to visited Thomas Goode's since literally last century and was on her bucket list. This absolute jewel box of a store has cutlery, crockery, glasses, dining ware and decor that has to be seen to be believed. We were gnashing our teeth it was at the end of our holiday where we had no space left in our suitcases nor much money left on our credit cards. I bought a pretty little crystal purple posy vase as a keepsake but I'lll return one day.

Simply An old school fab shop that's moved with the times and now boasts a really fantastic shopping experience. This place makes you want to look , to desire to own and most definitely to make a purchase .... of anything ..... You will find yourself contemplating crockery like you never thought of crockery. .... And you'll enjoy it :-)

This is, without a doubt, the finest china and glass stockist in the UK. Until pretty recently, Britain had makers to match the very best in the world. Sadly, most have now either closed, or been absorbed into large multi-national concerns and it has become harder and harder to find the quality that was once the benchmark.

At Thomas Goode, you will find it all, from the relatively minimalist, through to the most elaborate hand painted works of art. They can also supply brands that you will struggle to find elsewhere, eg Lobmeyr.

Excellent team of very helpful professionals that have been working in the industry for years. The salesperson that has spent less time in the company, has been working for Thomas Goode for 17 years - so all professionals with vast experience in the sector.

Offering from off the shelf products, branded goods, to custom-made items; Thomas Goode has no limits in terms of bespoke; if you have an idea in mind please present it to them, as they'll most likely find a solution for you.

Thomas Goode has their own silver smiths so they can offer competitive prices.

If your idea of fine tableware is Tiffany's, forget it. Thomas Goode is altogether on another level. Maybe another planet. This must be the finest tableware in the world. My cooking isn't up to it. Neither is my caterer's.

Go just to browse. Just browsing is educational. Service is said to be excellent, and in that vein, the assistants won't bother you. You might end up buying something. I did.

Not only the best collections of tableware but housed in an exquisite building. The store is huge and includes spectacular rooms with glass roofs and a paneled dining room akin to something out of a stately home. There are surprises in here too such as The Plateaux Gallery which has a jaw-dropping collection of contemporary glass and objets d'arts, a florist and a Thomas Goode museum where you can see the royal warrants and the plate Gianni Versace had made from them. An absolute MUST if you want to experience a quintessentially British store that bridges the gap between traditional and contemporary tableware, art, flowers and giftware.
