Went along to see this show at Hackney Empire, which we had never visited before. The venue is amazing stuck in the middle of Mare Street. The show was a real feel good experience, with a great act singing all of David Bowies classics.
Visited a reasonably priced comedy night Seats were on second tier but had a great view of the stage and sound systems good. Old Victorian theatre has had a refurb at some point but has all its own Victorian charm. Trivia fact of the day...More
The Hackney Empire is a beautiful building, lovingly restored to its former glory, which has an eclectic repertoire.
We went to see Rossini's opera Elizabeth I, performed by the English Touring Opera. Seats in the stalls cost £27.50, a fraction of the cost of comparable...More
We saw the comedy show "Live at the Empire" here in January 2019. The show itself was fine, although the sound wasn't great so I didn't hear it all. However I was particularly unimpressed with the Empire as a venue. We'd booked late and had...More
Visited the panto here for the first time in many years. The building is stunning and has been beautifully restored to Music Hall perfection. The bar served excellent mulled wine and the snacks were pretty good too.
This year's panto, Aladdin, was very professional and...More
Went to see the panto here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The performance was excellent although a little loud in places at the expense of clarity. The venue is excellent, being a beautifully restored music-hall. Drinks and refreshments were reasonably priced.

First time watching a panto here and it was fun. Lots of current gags - Brexit, Windrush etc. Theatre is comfortable and staff helpful. Wasn't a packed house as finishes soon but the audience participation was excellent. Loved it.
It’s always a fabulous panto at the Empire – that’s why I drive all the way from Leicester to see it each year.
This year it’s full of energy, thigh slapping and jolly japes – but IMHO could do with a few quieter moments to...More
Part of our Christmas Eve ritual. Great acting, sets, effects, atmosphere, view (even in Cat 3 seats) and transport links.
Pricey drinks but all proceeds go to Hackney Empire (charity).
Looking forward to watching A Thousand Splendid suns in May 2019.

The tesco car park is very small and you can only park there for 2 or 3 hours . It's is unlikely that it will be enough time for you as the show is around 3 hours long and you will need time to queue and find your seats etc your best option is to use the overground hackney central station as it is just 2 or 3 mins walk from the theatre . If you are local there are buses that you can use to , but we decided that parking was not an option unless uou want to run the risk of clamping or a ticket at tesco
