We visited in October to see The Breath. Door entry was a very peculiar experience and carried out by what I will call an aggressive man to the people waiting to enter the Chapel and who then had a personality change and become very polite and friendly to the staff passing him to enter. I put this down to him maybe having to deal with a number of difficult people in the past and therefore having to take this approach to try to control the people he deals with when queuing. The concert by The Breath was enjoyable, although late in starting. The chapel is a little cold and seating hard (As to be expected). We also ate on site before the concert and on offer was a one vegetarian dish and chicken dish. Drinks are also available to purchase, but can not be taken into the main chapel seating area.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 4, 2023
- MzRz2018Cotswolds, United Kingdom48 contributionsStunning venue, working church.Absolutely gorgeous venue. We showed up almost an hour early for the stand-up comedian we came to see, but there was already quite a long line at the door… seating is unassigned but most seats seem really good, including the balcony. It’s a working church, so be prepared for sitting on wooden pews and/or bring a cushion. Acoustics are great, venue is quite intimate. I’d love to come back for a musical act. Very close to Highbury and Islington Tube station.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 11, 2024

Okiem was inspiring, he manages to mix classic piano with other instruments and synthesizers. This venue suited the music, it was a marriage made in heaven, packed with emotion and artistic somersaults. Amazing concert.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 27, 2024
- Alex ELondon, United Kingdom165 contributionsArguably the most special venue in the UKI took my dad to see Izo Fitzroy here a few weeks ago. She is one of my favourite artists of all time as her voice is electric. When I first saw her 2 years ago, she blew the lid off of Ronnie’s. This acoustic masterpiece what more fitting of her. All seating, with no reservations. Pews, with little pillows dotted around. There is no bad seat. You look up and the beautiful ceiling, lit up, with a beautiful stained glass and you get it. You can see why someone who believe in god. The bar is cheap, very busy, and atmospheric. The toilet situation isn’t great and you can’t bring drinks into the venue itself. But this can be overlooked. It is perfect and probably the most amazing venue in London.Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 2, 2024

Great show iconic venue. 7.30 start would have been preferable, with 15 min support rather than 30 mins, this was followed by 30 mins break for merchandise sales. Chapel staff were on hand to assist/steward, they were excellent. Probably due to covid restrictions, no food and drink sales available on site although ample fresh water was supplied and you were advised before entry that you could go to the shop across the road. Toilets available - 2 steps up to them - but staff on hand to assist..
Graham and his band are consummate performers, great show, brilliant acoustics, fantastic live music. Highly recommended, would go again.

I booked a ticket to see Richard Marx for last year, this was cancelled due to COVID. These were expensive tickets and I have heard nothing from them since this was cancelled. I heard that the show was now happening in October of this year, despite trying to get in touch with them many times they seem to mostly just be ignoring the emails. At this point it seems they have just taken the money and decided to keep ot.

We came here to see the magnificent Sara Evans, what a fabulous setting with outstanding acoustics which must be a dream for the artists playing. Obviously its a working church and the pews are a little uncomfortable but its a small price to pay for the all over ambience of this location. If you have the opportunity to see an artist you really admire I would say this is a great place to see them!

I was excited to meet friends for the Bella Mackie but event which was fabulous!
It is a beautiful venue however, as soon as you arrive you are told to dump or empty your water bottle and you can refill it in side. I just dumped mine which was clearly see through disposable and you can tell it only contained water!
Before this happened I was asked to walk around the side of the silver cordon by one of the black male door men. I can understand their “rules” but I was the only one on the queue so it felt like “bully boy” behaviour and unnecessary.
There are plenty of washrooms and it was lovely and warm. It was a bit chaotic when it came to the book signing at the end as everyone started to make their way to the back of the chapel where we originally collected the pre purchased book only to have to rejoin a queue as they decided Bella would sign from a table at the stage.
Again really aggressive “move along” behaviour by the same security guard. There was as one male security guard with tight red hair/bald who tried to compensate for the poor behaviour he got to witness.
The event was circa £40 so not cheap but worth it as I love Bella/Greg and Barney but would I come to another event at this venue, probably not!
They do amazing working in the local community serving dinner there is etc and giving advice and I did toy with making a monetary donation but not after the way I was treated.
The guys at the bar were lovely and kind and efficient it just needs an overhaul of security and a bit more organisation!

We arrived at Union Chapel just as Kim Wilde started her set. We were asked to go upstairs. There were no seats available so we joined other audience members and stood at the back of the pews for the first half of the show.
After the interval we went back to this space and once the second half had started a member of the front of house team approached us and rudely told us we were standing in a fire exit and were not allowed to do so.
Not a problem for us to move but the rude member of the team was unable to tell us where we should go as there were no seats available.
I think this venue needs to review its safety procedures. Why were we allowed to stand for the whole first half ‘blocking’ an emergency exit. It is potentially very dangerous for us and other audience members.
The front of house staff struggled to find seating for us. It felt quite chaotic. You certainly got the feeling that the venue had oversold the tickets and were over capacity which in itself is dangerous if an emergency occurred.
Some basic customer service training would be useful as we were made to feel it was our fault that there were no seats available and nowhere for us to move to.
5 stars for Kim Wilde and sadly 1 star for Union Chapel.

This absolutely one of the best small music venues in London. The acoustics are wonderful. Such a beautiful setting too. There has been one small change since I went last, as there is a bar, but no alcohol in the chapel itself.
It has got wooden pews of course, so if this bothers you....

Hi, can anyone tell me what they consider the best seats to aim for? I was thinking downstairs in the middle section looking straight at the stage, but maybe not first few rows as I wasn’t sure if you’d need to crook your neck back if the stage is higher than the seating? Thankyou
Written February 27, 2023
It's purely personal choice, as a church layout you know what to expect. I personally don't near the sound desk, but that is just down you curiousity on my part .

Tends to be about 30 minutes. The seating is unreserved, to be honest, having been there many times I find if you go reasonably early and go UPSTAIRS the view is great, from the middle and less hassle.
Ps take a cushion as the seats are hard so numb bum territory

Hi, I bought VIP tickets including early access for a concert at Union Chapel. Is there a special queue for that or where do I need to go?
Written September 1, 2019
Hi I'm guessing the same main entrance, they will probably send you up to the bar area, which I think you access via the Union Chapel
