Great beer at a great price in a great pub.
Jul 2021
It's hard to beat a Sam Smiths pub for value but in central London the prices stand out even more so. Great beer at a great price in a great pub in an architectural gem. Its all mirrors and snugs. Wonderful.
The young lady serving was very friendly and worked so hard to keep peoples glasses filled. On this night she would have certainly done with some help. It was a bit surprising to see her working alone in such a busy place, but I guess that's down to managers.

Great traditional but stylish pub

Just entering the pub is an adventure of style. Lots of small rooms each with its own character. Good selection of drinks including its own label versions of popular ones. Food upstairs is good with friendly service and everything at very reasonable prices.

A gem

We were looking for somewhere to get a pre theatre meal but on a wet Friday Valentines night, all of the bars around the Shaftesbury Theatre were absolutely packed, we came across this place as we were about to give up. The downstairs area was packed, but upstairs there is a lovely restaurant area! There was hardly anyone in there, so we ordered food & drinks which were spot on! We only had fish finger sandwiches , which came with chips & they were hot & delicious- and a huge bonus for me was that the tartare sauce came on the side! There was a range of meals, which all looked lovely - if I’m in the area again, I’d definitely return. It was just perfect!

Traditional London Pub...
Jan 2020
This is a prime example of a traditional London pub, ornate bar with glass and decorative wood panelling partitions, gives an area for small to medium groups to have some semi-privacy.
The ale needs a little more looking after, but the establishment has character...

Avoid at all costs

Poor customer service, the management really need a course in customer service. Rude, arrogant, flippant and an attitude - incapable of ‘ managing’.
Our local (to work), my colleague was served a flat pint after work at 6pm and asked for it to be replaced. In my 40 years of pubs this does happen occasionally and generally it’s met with an apology and a freshly pulled replacement.
Not in this pub. Neanderthal with the customer skills of a bookend refused. Asked for the manager - initially told he didn’t know where she was. 10 mins later she arrives for a round 2 argument ( one way as by this point it just became laughable at how they created something out of nothing)
We left and won’t ever go there after work again.

Lovely-Quiet!

Stopped here for lite lunch & G&T....Silent Pool Gin. Lovely iconic pub....sat under portrait of Princess Louise. Lunch was a cold beef pie with brown sauce. Much better than I anticipated. Loved the decor & ‘oh so quiet’ atmosphere.

Disappointed
Aug 2019 • Couples
Lovely Sam Smith pub. As always we have a dog so we asked if they took dogs, they said yes. We bought our drinks and asked for a bowl of water for the dog. "unfortunately we don't allow dogs"! But we had just been told that they accepted dogs. We were told that last week they accepted dogs but this week we don't! And staff were very confused about all the mixed rules. All the other Sam Smith pubs were fine with dogs.
