A diabolical place. They look lovely, they seem to be such lovely people at first but, if truth be known its all a front. These people are just shrewd business owners. There is no love or care for the aninals. They couldnt care less for the owners. If you consider renting a stable, or field from them, let it be known they will be fantastic at first. Then, as soon as you know it, they will up the fees & lower the standards, making your life as miserable as they can.

Im so glad to see the back of this place. No doubt my bank account will be too.
Terrible place to be. Please dont be fooled into anything they say. Dont waste your money to ride there, or to stable your horse there.
There are many other better/happier/friendlier more importantly cheaper places for you and your horse.

RUDE PHONE STAFF AND COWARDLY MANAGERS
Oct 2021 • Family
Booked a three hour pony experience for half term as I’ve always had a wonderful experience here at Mount Mascal Stables. Unfortunately my daughter developed a cold and cough and as a responsible parent, I of course didn’t want to send her in. When I phoned reception, I was so shocked by the rude staff and lack of customer service. I explained my daughter wasn’t well and that I wasn’t asking for my money back, I would just like them to be understanding and help me move my booking to another day. This was a bday present from my child’s grandparent and she was very much looking forward to it. I was met with an obnoxious reply where the woman TALKED OVER ME whilst I was trying to explain the situation, she then said I won’t be getting a refund or rebooking so I calmly asked for the manager to call me back and before I could even ask if they had my phone number to ring me the phone was slammed shut. I waited all day but of course, the manager did not ring (something I have noticed other people complain about) so when I did eventually ring again, the lady who I had spoken to earlier said ‘if you were sick and missed the cinema, you wouldn’t get your money back would you?’ Now, firstly I did not ask for the money back (clearly was too busy talking over me to hear that) and secondly I’ve actually rebooked a cinema when my kids had symptoms so that’s not even accurate or relevant considering they are supposed to be a LOCAL BUSINESS not a multinational cinema! In the end the woman offered a place for the following day and although my daughter still wasn’t feeling 100% I felt I had to take her or lose the experience. I obviously did a PCR test beforehand and got the all clear but that’s not the point. They never asked me to do that, I did it because it’s the right thing to do but surely people’s safety should be prioritised first?! All they cared about was taking the money with or without the pony experience. They also made me fill out a Covid form knowing my daughter hadn't been been well. Hadn’t bothered to explain she needed gloves (so I resentfully bought the cheap pair made in China from reception for a rip off £5!!!!) the only reason I’m not giving a 1 star to this review is because I think the riding staff are actually lovely and a credit to this place. My daughter said her teacher was very kind to her and overall she had a great time. Unfortunately the rude phone staff and cowardly managers means I will not be returning to Mount Mascals again. If you want some advice, BE KIND!!! After everything the world has been through, you’d think that would be a lesson learned wouldn’t you?

Rude staff

Overall the children had a nice experience. However the lady who took the session was unfriendly with an abrupt tone. I won’t be paying to have my children spoken to rudely again!

Me and my husband visited today for the first time. We booked a private session however due to traffic we was 30 mins late. We was still welcomed nicely and still managed to go ahead with our session. The staff are all very kind and welcoming. Horses are beautiful and very well trained. I wore the wrong footwear as my husband surprised me and I did not know we was heading out for horse riding .. they accommodated me with some boots kindly ! Amazing experience from beginning to end. We look forward to visiting again! Definitely recommend to anyone who is reading this :)

Excellent riding school
Sep 2020
My two daughters (aged 11 and 8) have had riding Lessons at Mount Mascal for a number of years. They have both private lessons and take part in group pony club lessons. Over the years they have taken part in many holiday activities and always thoroughly enjoyed them and learned a lot. We have also taken part in activities as a family - parents and grandparents! In April we bought a pony and he is a field livery. The staff at MM have looked after us very well. From guiding us around stabling options, devising a plan to get us riding, to encouraging us to take part in all the activities available including the shows, at the right time for us. The teachers and yard staff are excellent! My daughters’ confidence and enjoyment is growing daily and I have been inspired to take up riding too! We would recommend MM as a riding school and livery yard. They truly live their motto of horsemanship for all!

I’m a senior bloke of 15 stone and this is the ONLY place in east london Essex north Kent to get a large enough horse to learn in
The horse I’ve used was excellent and the tuition was fun and I will continue to use this excellent facility as I do week rides every year and thus ensures I am safe and competent wherever I ride

Excellent riding school
Mar 2020 • Family
Having tried several riding schools when my daughter started learning, we discovered Mount Mascal stables and have not looked back since. The ponies and horses are loved and well cared for and enjoy their work. There are high quality covered and indoor arenas, making riding a pleasure all year round. The instructors are knowledgable and confidence building and the school is welcoming to everyone from the beginner to the experienced rider - my husband, 8 year old daughter and I all ride there. I highly recommend this riding school to all ages and abilities.
