Neighborhood: Belgravia
Home to the vast majority of embassies and diplomatic residences in London, sophisticated and upscale Belgravia also boasts a wealth of luxury hotels, fine dining restaurants, and some of the city’s most stroll worthy lanes. While the prices here are high, taking a leisurely stroll through the streets of picturesque and elegant white stucco houses is free. Hyde Park and the Buckingham Palace Gardens are only a stone's throw away to the north, and some of Europe’s best shopping is nearby as well.
How to get there

A place to visit if you want to get in contact with Italian heritage as far as culture, food and language are concerned.
Try the cafeteria or attend one of its many free events, attend a language class, meet Italian people and overcome the usual stereotypes.
The builing itself it's worth seeing!

i spent a day here volunteering for a charity. The building is beautiful, the library outstanding and the staff absolutely charming. I am sure that everyone would be made to feel welcome here.

39, Belgrave Square is a fabulous building , offering a range of events, often free with email registration. Charming staff and ambience. Do visit their website for more ideas. Having just had a holiday in Venice, I was delighted to attend an evening talk about Gardens in Venice. There was an opportunity to speak to staff and other guests, with a glass of wine and Italian nibbles to hand. I will be going again!

Having booked 6 months in advance for a two week intensive 'Introduction to Italian' class, we were pleased to receive confirmation two weeks in advance that the course would proceed. However, the class was subsequently cancelled at 4.30pm on the Friday before it was due to commence on the following Monday. There were no apologies, and the explanation made no sense (apparently they no longer had sufficient students despite having already confirmed 2 weeks' prior). To make matters worse they then tried to upsell us to 1:1 lessons at a market-inflated price.

It is incredibly disappointing that an Institute run by the Italian state operates with such poor customer service. Apparently this is not the first time that such a thing has happened (see previous review). They clearly have no respect for the time of their customers.

There are many other respectable language school out there in London who run in a customer-oriented way. I would strongly suggest to avoid the Italian Institute.

After pre-planning time off for a course, moving many professional and personal events to suit, the course was cancelled on a Friday evening before a Monday start. The mess that this has caused is compounded by the disappointment. I would never recommend such an organisation.

The Italian Cultural Institute is an official Italian Government body promoting Italian language and culture in England and Wales. It is situated at 33 Belgrave Square in a building dating from 1825. It is home to an ambitious series of exhibitions, lectures and concerts. It currently has two exhibitions one of dresses the other of jewellery both based on the theme of white or whiteness. There is also a programme feature and documentary films this month.

Very much enjoyed the free film screening I attended here. It would have been nice to have been able to see more of the building and I would have liked the opportunity to purchase a glass of Italian wine.

Beautiful building with an AMAZING library. They organise a lot of events, movie screening etc. Plus they hold Italian lessons, which are absolutely amazing. Teacher Feruccio absolutely rocks!
