I've been swimming at the Oasis every now and then for 40 years and I've never seen it look quite as grotty and depressing as it does now. There's some kind of refurb going on with the main entrance and I hope the female changing rooms, corridors and outdoor pool are on the list too. The pool tiles and fixtures are chipped, stained and dirty ( I don't know why they didn't at least get the grout-clean out over the lockdown ) The pool steps are loose like cheap taps in a station toilet and the same tacky posters are still up five years since I last saw them. The female changing room is large and draughty, with 3 communal showers ( very close together ) and just three showers in cubicles. Nobody tells you the lockers need 20p ( or to take your own padlock ) and reception are not allowed to give change . Not the fault of the staff, but GRIM.

For those who like an outdoor swim and are in Central London, THIS is your oasis. Situated in Covent Garden, this is this secret destination with an outdoor pool (27.5 metres) and an indoor pool (25 metres). There is a sundeck and a cafe, with towels to hire and a spinner to dry your swimsuit and hairdryers. Although this sport centre (gym, classes, squash courts) is a slightly older building, it is to be treasured. If the developers get hold of it, they would just smash it up and toss away the charm. Reasonable prices, very quiet and civilised. The staff are friendly and inviting too.

Over the past few weeks I’ve swam in a number of London’s lidos and can say without any hesitation that the wonderfully located Oasis lido the filthiest, grubby pool I have EVER swam in. I felt so uncomfortable swimming my normal 50 lengths that I had to cut it short in fear of being ill.
With sticky sides, walls and end bars along with the most grotesque view under the water I’m amazed it’s part of the Better Grp., as it does not compare to the other beautiful lidos in the group - particularly London Fields.
Please sort out your pool or close it down before someone gets seriously ill.

Lovely swim in a fantastic quirky throwback. Affordable prices,.clean, friendly staff. Great to swim in the open air after a day of travelling. Yeah its old but I can't think of another pool with the same charms.

Lovely pool, but an absolute nightmare that the lockers take a non-refundable 20p. If you forget something in your locker and run out of coins, it's a complete pain. Or if you want to collect something from your locker. I already paid entry. It's complete theft - when will Oasis sports centre get rid of the non-refundable lockers?

It was a pleasant surprise to find that a sauna has been added to the swimming pool facilities. This is quite a significant addition and now means that finally Oasis is genuinely an Oasis. The compactness of the sauna means that people are likely to converse with each other. Private conversations become eavesdropped and a nice sense of community begins to ensue.
Alone, among London Swimming pools the lockers retain the 20p coin and I can only assume that the revenue generated from this has subsided the sauna.

The outdoor pool is small but a nice experience for adults who can swim. For learners however, there is only a few metres of one lane reserved, and learners are unable to go beyond the shallow end, so this is a maximum 4metre by 4metre space available in total. I went recently with my son, who is learning and who can swim a few metres, and who wanted to practice his swimming. There were 19 other people - adults and kids - within this very small area, approx 4metres x 4 metres. In other words, if you are with kids, and they can't swim, don't expect to be in anything other than an upright bath. It was impossible to move. The pool should clarify on their website that access in the outdoor pool is very restricted for learner swimmers, so that visitors are not disappointed. I asked Oasis to amend their website, but they refused to do so, so this is why I am posting this on Tripadvisor, as a warning to others.

Much better experience to go to a lido in London eg Parliament Hill, where there is ample space for everyone in the massive pool, even at full capacity on a hot day, including a huge area in the shallow end which is suitable for learners.

For a gym in central London they have no idea that lunches as their busiest times and have hordes of 20+ personal training students using all the equipment and sitting on all the apparatus chatting. Not a friendly environment to train in due to this.

Would be 5* if this wasn't the case.

Of all the central London pools this is ultimately the most characterful. The (heated!)outdoor pool is a great experience, especially on a chilly evening when you can see the steam rising off the water. A recent refurbishment of the changing rooms is a major asset, and the slightly homoerotic slant (more pronounced here, than any other pool in London)adds a welcome frisson to the whole place.
