Stunning Views

The children love this park especially on a windy day when they can fly their kites. It offers some fantastic views of across London as well.

Very large park
Feb 2019
This park is very large and there are not a lot of people so you can take advantage of greater peace.
When I visited the park it was not the right time because there were several puddles because of the rain of the previous days.

Lovely views over London. Really nice playground with plenty for children to play on but was very busy when we went.

Throughly recommendable place to pass away a couple of hours on a weekend or just take a quick walk up Parliament Hill
Mar 2019 • Solo
I know people laugh at me but I don’t care, on this trip I was determined to tick off loads of places on my hit list, places I’d seen perhaps in films or TV or heard about and this was one of them. I headed there first thing on a beautiful but crisp Sunday morning. Parked up at the Lido car park and then thanks to google maps guidance headed off to the viewpoint at Parliament Hill which is only a ten minute walk. * Beware you need to pay for parking there. True to my sense of direction, meaning I have none, it was a real surprise as I headed up the hill excepting to see the view over the crest that when I turned around there was the city laid out in front of me. It’s just a super cool thing to see from a great spot and wonderful to see the whole area being used to the full, families with kids, people just reading etc, a real sense of conviviality. In Richmond Park there is King Henry’s mound which is a real hidden gem but I found Parliament Hill refreshing and I can imagine a great place for a walk or a picnic plus a bonus afterwards driving through Hampstead and other places that I had heard of but had never crossed my path before. I very much felt like a local and found the whole experience quite magical. I would throughly recommend passing away a couple of hours on a weekend here or just taking a quick walk up Parliament Hill to take in the view as I did.

Take a shot walk to a stunning view
Apr 2019 • Couples
You will not have seen London until you see it from Parliament Hill on Hampstead Heath. Chose a nice day, preferably an hour or so before sunset, and walk up to Parliament Hill.

A lot of London’s prominent landmarks can be seen from there: The Shard, the London Eye, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Post Office Tower and of course the Houses of Parliament (all more than 10 kilometers away).

Dawn and dusk will create special spectacles for photographic enthusiasts.

Views Across London...
Feb 2019 • Couples
We walked here from Hampstead Heath station, following the map at the entrance to Parliament Hill. Make sure you take the route between ponds 2 and 3 and not the first crossing which takes you out of the park.

As stated many times the views over London are excellent although it isn’t always the sunniest days that provide the best views. We came in the middle of the wonderful record breaking February weather with beautiful blue skies but there was a slight haze which limited the view.

We nevertheless enjoyed the Shard, the landmarks in the city of London including the Gherkin and even Canary Wharf to the left. There are a few benches but you have to be lucky to get one on such a lovely afternoon - we took some pictures and sat on the grass briefly before moving on. Worth going out of your way to see, Gospel Oak and Hampstead Heath (not Hampstead tube) are the nearest stations.

Great views a must see if you’re on Hampstead Heath…
Feb 2019 • Couples
We were having a wander around Hampstead Heath and after entering the park at the far end somehow managed to miss this as we headed up hill. Having had a wander around the Heath for a couple of hours and seen the views out across the London skyline from various other vantage points this does stand out as memorable as it’s closer than the others so the buildings, particularly if there’s trees or people in front of you to give perspective, do appear a lot larger.

Not very good for fireworks viewing at New Year, but must be great for day-time vistas
Dec 2018 • Friends
I have only visited at night once to see the 2018/2019 New Year fireworks. It was a great atmosphere, multi-national and convivial but the view of the London fireworks was pretty poor.

The display was largely concealed by buildings and it was a long way off so that what fireworks could be seen were quite small on the horizon at the edges of a big tower block and unimpressive.

The East London horizon had fireworks (again small and in the distance) that went off at about 7 minutes before midnight. Not just one location but over the whole East London horizon. The deliberations and amusement that East London must be in a different time zone was very entertaining.

I must go back to see the views during the day as I am sure they will be great.
