Address
Neighborhood: Soho
The go-to district for a good time in London, Soho hosts a wealth of world-class theatres and a compelling lineup of cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs. At Soho's core is London's original Red Light District and the epicenter of the LGBT scene – and thus the city's hottest nightlife. For shopping enthusiasts, Soho is not only the home of London's greatest concentration of boutique shops, but also the most strategic place to set off on a tour of the world's most celebrated department stores. In the southern part of the neighborhood lies Chinatown, with its multitude of delicious and affordable restaurants. Closer to the Thames, Chinatown's narrow and teeming lantern-lit lanes spill onto the expansive hub of glitzy Leicester Square.

Interesting place

Nice little gallery, usually has interesting exhibitions and a low entry fee £5 (£.2.50 concessions) covers the whole gallery, not per exhibition. Shop and small cafe on site.

Not for foreigners

When we visited the gallery was closed for non-UK and we did only find out after paying entrance fee to the gallery. Although the gallery itself is beautiful we were very disappointed not to see this part of the gallery just because we are non-UK

Didn't work for me this time....

It's easy to get to, just around the corner from Oxford Circus. There is a lot of exhibition space although I have to say that none of the exhibitions on when we visited particularly resonated. There is a small charge (£5) so would be worth returning at some future point. Suggest that you look up the exhibitions before you visit

Always Worth A Visit

I just love coming here any time I am in London. There’s a small charge if £5 admission to the galleries but it’s always worth every penny. I really enjoyed the current exhibitions - Feast for the Eyes & Shot in Soho . The cafe and bookshop are also worth visiting in their own right if you don’t have time for the exhibitions or just want to escape the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street for a while.

The photographers' Gallery
Jan 2020
My experience of The Photographers' Gallery was great, i found it very interesting and it was very helpful. The exhibition i saw was the Feast for the Eyes: The Story of Food in Photography which was captivating and included exceptional photography. There were lots of images to see and every image was unique and had a meaning behind it. The gallery gave lots of information about every image (including the story behind each image) and what the exhibition was about.

The exhibition has helped me improve my photography and shown me lots of different ways in which food (and other objects) can be viewed. One of my favourite images fro the exhibition was one by JR-ART.net, which was a picture of the American and Mexican border.

Treasure trove of great photography
Dec 2019 • Solo
This is a mecca for photography fans, with exhibition space on three floors, another one dedicated to training and education, plus a nice cafe on the ground floor. The two exhibitions on when I visited, Feast for the Eyes and Shot in Soho cover very different topics, but you could happily spend a couple of hours absorbing the work on display and the information about it.

Nice cafe, quick visit to Gallery
Dec 2019
I went here to meet a group of friends for coffee - good coffee! Relaxed atmosphere.
We went in the Gallery itself for a short trip - didn't have time to stay long as we had a restaurant booking. But what we saw, we enjoyed. The 5th floor is an exhibition about Soho in its heyday. The fourth floor is about food in the past. We didn't get to see the rest but I will definitely go back. As Art Fund pass holders, we got in half price (£2.50) so good value for money.

A hidden resource off the main strip - for photography enthusiasts
Dec 2019
The Photographers' Gallery is located in Ramillies Street just off Oxford Circus - it's easy to miss the narrow laneway but it is worth making the visit. The Gallery sits on the corner of the block and visible once you are in the correct street. The site has a number of exhibition spaces over three to four floors. It's part gallery, part workshop space and part education resource centre with a nice cafe on the ground floor. Entry price is around five pounds or two pounds fifty pence (discount). The exhibitions currently on show are 'Feast for the Eyes - The Story of Food in Photography' , 'Shot in Soho' and 'Data/Set/Match'. This is a gallery for those who appreciate photography as a medium in various forms - social documentary, photojournalism, abstract art etc.
