The area
Address
Neighborhood: Notting Hill
As West London's friskiest corner, Notting Hill more than manages to retain plenty of the same appeal that's brought the affluent area so much worldwide attention. In this attractive cobblestoned neighborhood, a delectable variety of eateries, independent shops, galleries and street vendors offer a delightful window into how to live the good life in London, with each presenting visitors with an experience that's a little more idiosyncratic and endearing than the last. Travelers looking to forage for antiques should be sure to visit the Portobello Road Market on Saturdays, the largest antiques market in the United Kingdom.

Good value spa
Nov 2021
Traditional spa with large (and very hot!) sauna and steam room. Also has a cold plunge pool and tepidarium with loungers.

Didn’t feel overly crowded when I went, but it was a weekday. Might be busier at weekends. Not a luxury spa but a good value place to go alone or with friends.

Only four showers so you may have a wait when busy.

Relaxing experience spoilt by the behaviour of staff
Jul 2021 • Solo
This place has a lot of potential but the staff members (one in particular) spoil the experience, the receptionist is friendly. They are confrontational and quite aggressive. My advice to management is to hire people more suited to a customer facing role and maybe I would consider returning.

Sort the hours out or reduce entry cost
Jul 2021
Nice sauna & steam rooms to enjoy a good old fashion steam / sauna .
Main complaint, on a weekend your limit to 3 hours only .
No reduction in entry fee .
Out of those 3 hours . Your kick out a full 30 minutes early to get changed back into clothes .
Who takes 30 minutes to get dressed
Plus if you go for the first session of the day .
The 3 hot rooms & sauna is still warming up .
So for first hour .
Technically you only have the 2 steam rooms to use .
Actually nice you can wander around in just a towel .
No sitting in sauna / steam in wet swimwear .
You used your towel to sit on

A calm oasis, excellent massages, un-pretentious and good value.
Jul 2021
I'm a complete spa and massage novice, but a 3 hour session at Porchester Spa, including excellent massages from Sandie and Vanessa, gave me just my partner and I were looking for to unwind for a birthday treat: wide range of facilities, an incredible massage, clean facilities, relatively good value (compared to hotel spas), friendly customer service and a friendly bunch of other users milling about - some chatty, some keeping themselves to themselves, all un-pretentious. We went on a Sunday (mixed day) and it felt nice and quiet. My only criticisms are that the staff ask you to shower and change a full 30 minutes before the end of the session time, and that they didn't ask someone who was playing their music in the relaxation area to turn it off. Otherwise, a great experience.

Value for money

Lovely facility for a fraction of the price that luxury spas are charging. Great pool, good customer service, can not fault it.

Nice relaxing afternoon
Jun 2021 • Couples
Nice environment to relax.
Kind staff, generally clean. Not too full on a Saturday.
Hairdryer and water (bottle refill) are free.
You need 20 cents for the locker and your own towel.
You can go around naked or not, about 50/50proportion. Nobody was funny about nudity.
They do not accept cash I think.

It is like an old fashioned turkish spa in central London, very big, lots of heated rooms to enjoy!

It is like a big old fashioned Turkish Spa in Central london. lots of different heated rooms to choose ranging from steam and saunas and large Turkish rooms. It also has a cold pool to cool off. Do not go at weekends as twice as busy but when you go during the week it is quiet and you can even bag your own space to relax in as it so huge. On single sex sessions you can go naked. lovely for the nudists out there or full swimsuit.

Massage by Sandy
Feb 2020
I am really happy that this gem has been given a loving refurbishment. Massage therapist Sandy has returned and I highly recommend the Time Out package that includes a steam, scrub and massage - bliss!

Proper Old Fashioned Turkish Baths
Dec 2019
Porchester Spa is the only one of London's old bathhouses that hasn't been ruined by a money-grubbing redevelopment. It still has spacious steam rooms (not plastic cabins), hot rooms, relaxation areas, and a proper plunge pool. The Art Deco decor is intact. It's recently been repainted and repaired and feels fresh and pleasnt.

Refurbished and clean
Jan 2020 • Solo
I had my first visit since the refurbishment and the establishment is now much cleaner and brighter. The hot rooms are vastly improved with a rebuilt boiler- decent temperatures and all the recliners working properly.
Positives: Much improved hot rooms. Aesthetically better plunge pool area. Ceilings no longer have dripping pipes and extraction is good. Sauna as hot as ever. Rebuilt shower blocks and plenty of hot water.
Negatives: nothing terrible but a little disappointing - no cold shower now; steam rooms not as efficient as before - but still ok. No masseurs/therapists around unless previously booked.

Please note that this is not a homophobic establishment- people are only asked to leave if they are inappropriate. I’m a gay man myself. Porchester is much like the German and Dutch Spas where being naked is quite normal, as being clothed in swimsuits or shorts means you miss out on the full effect of the treatments. Also no-one bothers about how you look so it’s a great place to relax and recover from the pressures of London. If you’re looking for a bit of ‘frisson’ there’s other places you can go.
