Love tennis? Go to Wimbledon, even if the Grand Slam tournament is not going on. The 90-minute tour flew by because the guide covered so much history and took our group to Court 1, Court 18 (where the sports longest tennis match was played—more than 11 hours), gave an inside look at some of the facilities available to the players, and finally to Centre Court. The guides are knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to help take pictures. The tour ticket (£27) includes admission to the museum that is jam-packing with interest displays, video presentations, and, yes, lots of trophies. Wimbledon is easy to get to on the District underground train line and then it is an easy 15-minute walk to the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. There is a bus available if that walk is not possible.

We caught the train from Waterloo station to Wimbledon (20 minute trip), we walked for around 15 minutes to cute Wimbledon village, looked around and then another 10 minute walk to the tennis. We pre-booked the 90 minute tour, we had time to explore the gift shop beforehand. Our guide Sarah then took us all around the grounds, we visited several courts, broadcast area and Henman Hill. Was quite in depth and definitely value for money. After the tour we did the audio guide in the museum, as tennis fans we really enjoyed the experience but non-tennis fans would too, easily allow half a day.

Although we were shown Centre Court, Court No.1 and the newly opened Media Centre, I was really hoping to see more of the ‘behind the scenes’ areas - ‘facilities used by the players’, as stated on the Wimbledon website.
The tour guide and his assistant were excellent though - providing lots of information, friendly, prepared to take photos of the group and answer any questions. I thought at 90 minutes it was good value - the tour also includes museum entry with a personal audio guide - allow at least 30 minutes for the museum. Close to the museum and shop is the Wingfield Cafe, which has a large shady patio and is open to all visitors.
Good site security. Despite the disappointment of not seeing more player areas, I would recommend.

The Wimbledon tour and museum is a very informal and interesting tour. It’s a must have for tennis fans, because you can visit the famous courts and there’s loads of tennis history, especially in the museum. But even for someone who doesn’t watch tennis often, it’s a nice experience. The museum is good, because it’s very interactive. For example, there’s a big screen where you can watch all the finals of the Wimbledon Cup. And there are many other games and tricks, so you don’t have to worry it will be boring. The best thing is, that you can visit the museum for free if you have a ticket for the tour. The tour guides are very friendly and educated, so they have much knowledge about the grounds and they can answer every question. All in all, everyone who visits London should also visit Wimbledon, to explore a bit of the tennis history and see what the future will bring.

We took the tube to Southfields Station and walked the 15mins to Wimbledon. Our 90min tour included Center Court, Court #1, Court #18 (to see the grass up close), the press area, restaurants, Murray Mound/Henman Hill, and in general the beautiful grounds. We visited on May 28, 2023 and the courts had not been lined, but ohhhh the grass looked so smooth. Our group included 30 people, which I felt was too big. It was difficult for some to keep up, and the guide didn’t really have time to answer questions…other than that, it was a great informative experience. We also visited the museum, used head sets to explore at our own pace- very well done and we loved the history. Finished our day with lunch in the cafe- delicious sandwiches and dessert.

This has been on my bucket list for a long time!my friend booked the tour and we went on a rainy Saturday.
The tour was very good,we saw the show courts, the press centre, the smaller courts, the champions balcony and interesting things, the guide was very knowlegable.
The museum was excellent,so much to see and read, you need about 3 hours there!
1 dissapointment was the cafe, very poor selection of food considering there is no where else to eat.
At lunch time I want more choice like soup, jacket potato, better vegetarian choices, you can get cheese and ham, cheese and tuna but not cheese on its own!
There were enough staff there to be able to make an individual choice but the cafe mananger was very rude and told us we had to eat what was there, not very professional,he even told us to go elewhere which is a bit difficult, when you have come along way to be at the museum!
In the end I settled for an over priced cream tea,£11.45,outragious!
Next time,I will bring my own food(but I probably wont be allowed to eat it!).
And finally, the gift shop is very over priced!£9 for a fridge magnet!

The grounds were gorgeous and the tour was very informative. We spent a lot of time in the new players lounge and seeing some of the hill and Court 2. I think we were lucky to be able to see the area a buzz with setup for the upcoming tournament.
If this were any other time of year, I could see this tour not being worth it.
It is about 90 minutes long and it is a hike to get here from central London. It took me about 1 hour 20 on the District Line and then an additional 20 minute walk from the station to the front gate.
You check in quickly at the front security gate and then into the gift shop/museum to check in for your tour. I was late due to rail disruptions, but they quickly welcomed me and took me to my tour group. I hadn't missed anything at all.
You can take as many photos as you want, just not of anyone in all white as they are members and do not want to be photographed.
After the tour, you are able to spend time in the museum/shop/restaurant. The shop has great, high quality items at surprisingly reasonable prices! I was very pleased with the selection and they had ample staff to check people out. MLB London was in town and there were a lot of them in the shop so the extra staff was definitely needed.
I had coffee and lunch in the restaurant. It was good and decently priced. The staff were also very nice. The one comment I have here is that they do not offer the strawberries and cream that is such a staple of Wimbledon. I do wish they had that available as it is such a summer icon.
After you finish, you walk the 15-20 minutes back to the tube and you are all set. It is a great option for a morning activity and leaves your evening open for some fun time in the City.

I went on the tour today (10/8/22) with my 16 year old son. I was concerned that a 90 minute tour would be too much. I was wrong! We were both incredibly impressed. I am not an avid tennis fan but this tour made me want to watch more & go see some matches live. The guide was extremely knowledgeable, thorough & pleasant. We learned so much & both really enjoyed ourselves!

Excellent visit. We opted for the tour as well as the museum.
Would recommend a weekday as quieter.
The tour itself lasted around an hour and a half and we visited no 1 court and centre court as well as behind the scenes - definitely worth doing.
The museum is excellent. It uses a headset based system, so you can listen to as much or as little as you want, If you just walk straight through the museum and do a couple of the interactions you will probably be hour plus, but if you listen to the stories and have a go at the games, watch the videos etc. you will probably need two to two half hours (adult)
There is a cafe on site which had a nice choice of cakes - we were the only people in there - not sure why no one was using it as it was lovely.
If you are a tennis fan, or are interested in how Wimbledon works then this is a good thing to do.
Nearest tube station is Southfields and there is around a 15 minute walk from there, or get a taxi.

I went to visit the museum and shop tour Sept 7th I am an avid tennis coach and player and had always wanted to visit Wimbledon. I arrived and security was very strict upon entry. Once inside we visited the shop and looked at all the items which was nice. Buy your items before your tour because the shop closes while the tour is going. We had a little time and visited the cafe and it was priced fair and had a large selection. The tour was limited to just center court which was very nice to visit and take photos. the guide was very nice and had worked there may years. The visit was worth the money.

It is not necessary to pre-book, but it is advisable, particularly in the morning as the tours get very busy.
Il n'est pas nécessaire de réserver à l'avance, mais c'est conseillé, surtout le matin, car les visites sont très chargées.

The tour is about 2 hours - you see centre court and some behind the scenes.. but remember it is a PRIVATE MEMBERS CLUB, and much is quite rightly out of bounds, you stay with the guide .The museum after the tour and included you do on your own. NOTE - tour not available when the championships are on .I thought the tour very informative. We took the tube to Wimbledon and walked up the hill then down to the aeltc, nicer than from ' southfields ' . good cafes in wimb village !!!
