We took a City Cruises' cruise for a refreshing break from the crowded city streets and the rather warm day. It was wonderful! The views from the river are unbeatable and the captain was entertaining in his dialogue. We rode from Waterloo to the Tower of London in about 40 minutes with a short break (and turn of the boat)... Excellent value for money- booked through Wowcher, so a cheap trip! Running commentary from the only female boat crew, which was knowledgable and entertaining. Helpful, cheerful staff on board... Which over came the grumpy greeting from the Pontoon staff before you boarded!

A tourist was dragged out of water appreantly slipped from an open boat as we were cruising in a larger vessel. Stay inside if windy and choppy water ways. Bring your own food and drink as they can cost a fair bit more on the cruise.

I went on a city cruise today and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Took my 3year old age expected it to be a boring 50 minute boat trip looking at the buildings . Which it was, however the amateur tour guide was funny and informative and made the 50 minutes fly by. I didn't pay full... More

This was a fabulous treat for my birthday. We had a superb lunch and the whole event was fantastic. Great food, great staff, & very humorous but informative commentary throughout. I would definitely recommend this and we will be going again. Maybe afternoon tea next time for something different x

Staying in Westminster

Neighborhood Profile
Westminster
If you only had an afternoon to experience London on a grand scale, Westminster would be a wise place to start. The ornate Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey sit adjacent at a corner of Parliament Square, and a short stroll along The Mall leads to Buckingham Palace. Trafalgar Square and Nelson's Column are just up the road as well. As captivating as the architecture is, the wonders of Mother Nature are highlights of the area too. St James's Park (arguably London's loveliest), the expansive Green Park, and pedestrian friendly tree lined paths along the river showcase the exquisite manicure provided by English gardeners. Just beyond the landmarks and the gorgeous outdoor spaces, quiet residential squares and age old local pubs offer a more subdued take on this global seat of power in the heart of London.
