Top ways to experience Hay's Galleria and nearby attractions

The area

Address
Neighborhood: Southwark
Even before the arrival of the instantly iconic Shard, the riverside scene in Southwark had moved well beyond any up-and-coming phase of development. For quite some time, locals and out-of-towners alike have loved browsing the boutiques of Bermondsey High Street, foraging through the bounteous stalls at centuries old foodie haven Borough Market, and flocking to the banks of the Thames to enjoy some of Britain's biggest attractions such as Tate Modern and Shakespeare's Globe. Despite Southwark's many popular draws, instant calm can be achieved easily by turning down almost any side street. For more urban buzz, a quick stroll across famed bridges like the pedestrianized Millennium Bridge or the ever photogenic Tower Bridge yields access to the very core of Central London. And with London Bridge Station as this neighborhood's main transportation hub, getting across town (or to anywhere in England for that matter) is a relative breeze.

    Impressive fountain
Very impressive, huge central court on the ground floor, with a beautiful modern sculpture of an air ship in a water fountain. Several restaurants and food stands surround the central area, including Costa coffee. While the service there was fine and the hot chocolate was delicious, the one restroom available for customers, and maybe staff?? was absolutely filthy. The location of the Galleria is outstanding, very close to the enormous London Bridge station, several famous landmarks and is at this time surrounded by Gillie and Marc animal sculptures.

    Ok
We were walking past and decided to have a walk through here. There are some cafes and a couple of small shops inside. There is a water feature of a ship which is nice to have a look at. The architecture is nice to have a look at. It was quiet when we visited but is can get busy more later in the day when more of the places inside open.

Wharf turned gallery and commercial space on the Thames
This is the old Hay's Wharf which was redeveloped and repurposed into a commercial and retail venue after the wharf closed down in the 1970s. It has always felt a bit underutilised to me for some reason, yet I have enjoyed walking through the galleria for decades now. There are some restaurants on the ground floor, a peculiar sculpture called The Navigators designed by David Kemp (1987) that is fun to look at. Perhaps best is simply popping out of Hays Galleria and seeing the Thames, The HMS Belfast, Tower's of London across the river and the iconic Towers Bridge to your right. This view is great during the day and spectacular after dark.

Another London area for walking and taking photos.
Hay's Galleria provides shopping and dining experiences at the typical overpriced London costs. It regularly has stalls for traders offering unique gifts and an annual Christmas market. The Christmas market is great for photo opportunities and enjoying festive treats at a cost. Hay's Galleria provides plenty of photo opportunities. It is good for walking and seeing if you are lucky enough to find a bargain for shopping or dining.

Just a short walk from London Bridge railway station is Hays Galleria. I visited around lunchtime and the area was buzzing with people getting lunch and enjoying the area.

Stepping out of the mall you have a glorious view of the River Thames, Tower Bridge and the City of London.

It's a nice place to go to get some lunch and relax.

I went to this shopping arcade with my girlfriend during a holiday in London. The covered structure is located in the southern part of the English capital between the River Thames and London Bridge railway station. Inside there are various commercial activities and numerous refreshment points. In the center there is a statue of a steampunk sailing ship inside a fountain. During the Christmas season there are numerous stands that create a beautiful Tyrolean-style market.

I did not visit to shop or dine, (but there are nice places to do both), at Hays Galleria but to simply take in the beautiful history and architecture of what was once the bustling Hay's Wharf from the 1850's with ships from all over the world bringing in up to 80% of all dry produce imported into London at the end of the 19th Century. The old warehouses have been beautifully restored and tastefully repurposed to their uses in the Galleria. The high arched canopy is worth a long gaze skywards and the 'steampunk' ship sculpture called 'The Navigators' by artist David Kemp (1987) will attract your attention and that of every kid that visits the Galleria. Worth a visit as you walk along the Thames from Tower Bridge to London Bridge just past the HMS Belfast.

Went to the bar in the Hays Galleria and was attracted by the nice surroundings. Was told to scan the barcode on the table and order drinks through the app. When I paid for the drinks on my phone they automatically took a 12.5% service charge. They didn’t give an option to opt out of this. I asked a staff member to refund the charge. They said they would check with the manager and after some waiting they agreed to pay back the charge.
When they brought the drinks over they pretty much slammed the drinks into us without making eye contact and walked away. They left cork in the bottle of Prosecco which I had to take back to the bar and ask them to remove which they were most unhappy to do. £50 worth of drinks to treat my sister and her husband which turned out to be an awkward and hostile experience.

This is an interesting food centre based in what was an old dock surrounded by warehousing. There is an unusual modern ship sculpture and at the moment a pop up bar which wasn't open at lunchtime. The Italian cafe is good for a light lunch. We tried the Horniman pub which served nice food if a bit expensive.

Not interested in shops - especially expensive ones but the developers have done so well in preserving this impressive structure. It runs off the Thames bank walk and is a former warehouse. It would have been nice to have kept the water inlet but I can understand why they chose not too. The attractive mellow yellow bricks are so distinctive. It will only take you a moment to walk through (unless you wish to visit the shops too) but the display boards explain its history so are worth a read.

The Galleria is a great example of preserving the old warehouses that ran along this part of the river and giving it a new modern identity with a new covered public space - which mirrors the old dock - at its heart.

It is always enjoyable to walk through the Galleria between the river and London Bridge station and, at the north end, it provides great views of the river and HMS Belfast.

The Galleria has been asleep for the past few months, but you can see that preparations are being made for its awakening.

The Galleria provides a good range of shops, bars and restaurants in a modern conversion of of historic massive 19th century brick warehouses around the old Hay's Wharf, which has been filled in and given a soaring new roof.

The Wharf was one of London's busiest in its heyday and a link back is provided by the 'Navigators' sculpture in its centre.

In addition to the main shops, there are small craft stalls which have interesting things worth looking at.

Always a joy to visit when exploring this part of London, and now opposite a new entrance to London Bridge Station.

I've walked past the building countless times without having any idea what is in it - and I was not disappointed. What a beautiful building which is great for groups of friends to have a drink, or for a date spot. Can't wait to go back in the summer.
