- LonePineKathNottingham, United Kingdom227 contributionsWell worth a visit!Absolutely brilliant. My teenage daughter was in instagram heaven and I was pleasantly surprised by how fascinating it all was and I spent around an hour just soaking up all of the neon art. A beautiful, unique place. I would highly suggest to plan your day around coming here for a drink (either alcoholic or coffee) as the prices are very fair and it's a great place to sit and chat together, amongst the neon. Staff are lovely and you don't feel rushed at all. They serve everything from coffee to beers to cocktails and there are plenty of tables and seating areas to enjoy it in. It's a bit of a trek from Walthamstow tube but well worth it.Written August 13, 2022
- Brian TLondon, United Kingdom6,401 contributionsMy FAVOURITE hidden gem in London! This place, in a nondescript industrial estate in the back blocks of Walthamstow, is a treat. It’s a kaleidoscope of colour, eccentricity, quirkiness and charm. A cafe and bar area is surrounded by a psychedelic wonderland of neon lights, vintage signs, old film props, religious statues, disco balls and retro signs. There are thousands of items here, adorning every inch of walls and ceilings, crammed in without rhyme or reason. It’s occasionally irreverent, occasionally confrontational, occasionally cheesy, but completely fabulous. God's Own Junkyard is a museum and workshop devoted to neon signs. It was created by Chris Bracey, who in the 1970s joined his father's firm, based in Walthamstow, which made illuminated signs for circuses and fairgrounds. In the 1980s he was specialising in making neon signs for film sets. Today the museum holds over 700 flashing tubes of colour and other weird and wonderful objects d’art! I just visited the museum, without eating or drinking at the cafe / bar area. You’re free to wander and enjoy it for as long as you want, but can only use mobile phones for photography. I loved the museum and think it’s a little hidden gem in London. It’s about a 15 minute walk from Walthamstow Central underground and bus station. The venue’s website has clear visual directions you can follow. Check the website for opening times and to make sure it’s open on the day of your visit, as it’s sometimes closed for private functions. It’s in the Ravenswood Industrial Estate, in an unassuming building.Written September 21, 2021
- GCELondon, United Kingdom12 contributionsA magical experience!I’ve visited this beautiful, quirky, fascinating gallery / museum and eaten in The Rolling Scones café and bar with my young children and friends and couldn’t recommend visiting highly enough! Being in the warm and colourful glow of the stunning neon signs is so uplifting, cosy and fun and this welcoming warmth is reflected in the wonderful people that run God’s Own Junkyard! The team there are so friendly and the service is excellent and highly professional. The neon sign collection is extensive, diverse and very cleverly curated. It really is a feast for the eyes! Delicious food, homemade cakes, hot drinks and a great variety of cocktails and mocktails are served at the café, with comfortable seating and tables. I would highly recommend their scrumptious afternoon tea too! I love the music that’s played there (mainly 80s and 90s indie rock) just the right volume to nod and toe-tap to, while being able to chat very comfortably, it perfectly enhances the vibrant, but relaxed atmosphere. Visiting God’s Own Junkyard is a truly special and unique experience. It really feels like the heart and soul of Walthamstow. 💗🌈 ✨Traveled with friendsWritten March 11, 2020

An amazing place to visit if you are looking for something quirky and fun. Nice walk from Walthamstow Central station.
The Junkyard is located on an industrial area estate, with local brewers and street food stalls in the area. There is also an excellent cafe in the junkyard doing food and drinks.

What an amazing find… We were totally blown away with the creativity here. No charge to have a look around but we did buy some drinks which were good and average price. This seriously is a must do, staff were friendly and it was a totally chilled out place

A surprisingly obscure place to find, but worth every second of the time spent.
With food and licensed bar available, with awesome cake this place is a must see hidden gem. The most fantastic display of neon signs, historic signage and memorabilia. A great experience for all.

A wonderful, one of a kind experience. The staff are friendly, the cafe is interesting if basic and the nachos and coffee were good. The neon signs are wonderful and fun and unusual. There are souvenirs as well at reasonable prices. It is a little way out of the centre of London, but well worth the journey.

Stumbled across this place online whilst looking for places to take my teenagers in London and it didn’t disappoint. It was just amazing! So quirky, cosy, cool and with a great vibe. The signs are amazing, the music playing was perfect and it was a lovely place to sit and have a drink. Definitely try their own brand lager as it’s delicious! It’s not a massive place so didn’t take long to look round but it’s just something different to do and we loved it.

Great eclectic explosion of Neon in a compact unit, but they have crammed a lot in here. Free entrance. Toilets. Cafe if you want to stop & eat. Bear in mind if visiting with younger children not all of the neon signs may be age appropriate ;)

Very unique and hidden away, some great art pieces for sale and good value. A lovely place to visit, very relaxing and a good vibe. Sadly, has become super touristy and it's a small place meaning not enough space. Very sad as I loved visiting here.

Ciao a tutti! Considerando il fatto di non poterci stare molto per mancanza di tempo, secondo voi (escludendo il tempo del viaggio per raggiungere Il God's Own Junkyard) un'ora all'interno di questo affascinante posto può bastare?
Grazie mille

Is it a safe area to walk from the Walthamstow tube station to the junkyard?

It’s a lovely walk through Walthamstow village which is near the station and very safe particularly during the day. Everyone will smile and probably say hello to you!
Is there anything halal food

They had cakes, coffee, and light bites. I had a toasted cheese sandwich. I'm not sure if the meat is halal.
Does it cost to enter, if so, how much?

The entry is free. There’s a cafe inside for snacks too. Hope that helps.

Anyone visited on a Friday, is there plenty of parking? Lots of reviews say plenty of parking but just wonder as it’s an industrial estate if that’s Saturday/Sunday.
Thanks in advance 😃

The parking spaces are clearly signalled as only for residents and there are many enforcement cameras, be cautious. Is better to park on the streets close to the entrance and go walking.
Olá,
Gostaria de saber se se paga para entrar ?

Renata, God's Own Junkyard is definitely worth it, if you have to be in the neighbourhood. I wouldn't go all the way to Walthamstow just for this but if you're there anyway, don't hesitate to stop by!
