We had a fantastic time on this tour! It's both boags of fun and an excellent way to learn about Orwell and his times. David is the perfect guide: brimming with knowledge while also being a very patient and funny host. I would recommend this to anyone.

Went on the walking tour with 4 friends. Our tour guide David was witty and personable, and the tour was very informative. Saw some beautiful parts of London, Orwell’s old digs, his drinking haunts (still open), and the inspiration for some of his novels, among many other things. We had some interesting discussions with David about Orwell and his work, and got a sense for the man behind the author. I particularly enjoyed the readings, too. Could not recommend highly enough!

I was really luck to take a private tour with David with my girlfriend. I’ve worked in London for nearly 10 years and learned things about places I must have walked past 100s of times. David is a really nice guy with interesting experience from the work he’s done and knows loads about Orwell beyond that basics of Animal Farm and 1984. An afternoon well spent with meandering walking and conversation. Would recommend for anyone looking for something away from regular tours in London.

The tour was a perfect pace of walking, listening, and learning about Orwell and his life in London. Diarmaid pointed out little known facts about Orwell and took us to a wide variety of places around central London. He related each piece of the tour to something Orwell had written, which was fascinating. The tour was about 2.5 hours (maybe a little shorter) and worth every penny. He was open to taking any kind of questions and was very knowledgeable about Orwell and his life.

I'm not one for participating in organised events with people I don't know, so I was slightly dragged along to this guided walk by my more enthusiastic wife and daughter - it was just the three of us plus our guide, David. However, as soon as David approach us at the rendezvous, I had a good feeling and the next two hours were a pure delight. The tour was informal, but well-prepared and informative, with lots of opportunity for conversation and discussion about and around George Orwell. I was sorry it had to come to an end and left David with a reignited faith in society and optimism for a better collective future.
